DOKKEN: LYNCH Will Go Down In History As Once Being A Great Guitarist, But His Day Is Over
- Oct. 28, 2012
In a brand new interview with the Melodic Rock fanzine, DOKKEN mainman Don Dokken was asked about the possibility of a reunion of the band's classic lineup, "I would love to do one more DOKKEN record some day with the original members," he said.
"Jeff [Pilson, bass], Mick [Brown, drums] and I get along great, but George [Lynch, guitar] continues to talk negative about me. I have no desire to play with someone that is emotionally unstable and full of hate."
He added, "Jon [Levin, current DOKKEN guitarist] and I are best friends and we both understand the DOKKEN sound. George always wanted to change it.
"George continues to say he believes that I was the weakest member of the band. He forgot who wrote a large part of our music and hits.
"Narcissism is a disease of the mind, and I think it's too late for him to change and find spiritual peace in this lifetime.
"The band is called DOKKEN, not LYNCH.
"Jon Levin was always a fan of George's playing. He has always spoken of him with respect, because Jon has class.
"You can listen to [the new DOKKEN album] 'Broken Bones', T&N, and LYNCH MOB and let the fans make their own decision.
"George will go down in history as once being a great guitarist, but his day is over."
Regarding "Broken Bones", Don said, "The CD title is about everybody that has had troubles in there life, love, health, lost love, heartbreak, death — nobody goes through life without a few broken bones, metaphorically. Most of us learn from our past mistakes, but some people do not, what does not kill you makes you stronger. The pain in our lives inspires us to make music, and the happiness as well inspires to write. We are all damaged."

T&N To Guest On 'Rockline'
- Oct. 28, 2012
T&N (formerly TOOTH AND NAIL), the new project featuring current and former members of DOKKEN: George Lynch, Jeff Pilson (bass) and Mick Brown (drums), will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Wednesday, December 12 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with T&N by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). The show will be streamed on the "Rockline" web site for two weeks beginning the afternoon after the live broadcast.
Rat Pak Records has set an October 31 release date for "Slave To The Empire", the debut album from T&N.
"Slave To The Empire" contains eight new original songs and four re-recorded classic DOKKEN songs that feature sensational vocal performances by Tim "Ripper" Owens (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, JUDAS PRIEST, ICED EARTH, DIO DISCIPLES), Doug Pinnick (KING'S X), Sebastian Bach (SKID ROW) and Robert Mason (WARRANT, LYNCH MOB). The drum tracks on the new, original compositions were laid down by Brian Tichy (WHITESNAKE, FOREIGNER).
"Slave To The Empire" track listing:
01. Slave To The Empire 02. Sweet Unknown 03. Tooth And Nail (feat. Doug Pinnick) 04. It's Not Love (feat. Robert Mason) 05. Rhythm Of The Soul 06. When Eagles Die 07. Into The Fire (Jeff Pilson) 08. Alone Again (feat. Sebastian Bach) 09. Mind Control 10. Kiss Of Death (feat. Tim "Ripper" Owens) 11. Jesus Train 12. Access Denied
The song "It's Not Love" is now available for streaming below.
In a recent interview with Guitar International, Lynch stated about T&N, "We actually did two records. The first one, which will be released in September, and then the band will go out on the road at the beginning of October. We'll do a short West Coast tour, then play Loud Park festival in Japan as well as visit a few other Asian cities before heading to Europe for a couple weeks. Then it's back to the States and we will finish up before Christmas."
Earlier in the year, T&N was forced to shorten its name from TOOTH AND NAIL for legal reasons. The band stated, "We cannot keep [the name] as TOOTH AND NAIL as there is a label that has it trademarked. [Fans] can still call us TO$%H AND NA$L... We can't."
Regarding how T&N came together, Pilson said in an August 2011 interview, "The DOKKEN [original lineup] reunion has been scrapped, and I take a lot of the initial responsibility for that because of my schedule and commitment to FOREIGNER. . . Then George asked me about working with him on the next LYNCH MOB record — and I jumped at the chance. He and I started writing, got into a groove and wrote an album's worth of stuff, all with the intention of Oni [Logan, LYNCH MOB singer] writing lyrics and it being their next record. Brian Tichy laid down some incredible drums at his studio (and co-wrote some music on one track) and we had an incredibly strong start. Then Oni just wasn't feeling the music as being LYNCH MOB, so it was shelved. We figured it'd be the start of another LYNCH/PILSON record some day. Then, actually, it was Brian who had the idea that Mick, George and I should do a band, similar to what HEAVEN & HELL was to BLACK SABBATH, and call it TOOTH AND NAIL. Because of everything else we have going, it'll be just a recording project at first, but sure sounds fun. We'd record the classics keeping true to the originals but make them fresh and organic. Then the idea of doing new songs came up, and it grew from there."
He added, "I have absolute belief that the music George and I make together (along with Brian Tichy in this case) is real and inspired, and that's what it's really all about. So out of a mess of a reunion attempt, I think we'll end up with a really fabulous record, and what could be better than that?"
When asked if T&N is basically DOKKEN without Don, Pilson said, "Don is, and will always be, the singer of DOKKEN and an invaluable part of the DOKKEN chemistry. No one ever wants to take that away or dispute it one iota. But the three of us do have time tested amazing chemistry, and because we were writers on these songs, I feel we have a lot to express. If anything I think this will be a show of respect for Don, not some kind of competition. I only hope people enjoy it in the spirit for which it's intended . . . Don't think of this as DOKKEN without Don... that's misleading. Think of it as a band with great chemistry coming up with new music that excites them, and also paying tribute to DOKKEN — music which the members all are heavily invested in emotionally."

TRIVIUM: New Audio Interview With COREY BEAULIEU
- Oct. 28, 2012
Dead Press! conducted an interview with guitarist Corey Beaulieu of Florida metallers TRIVIUM prior to the band's October 15 concert at HMV Ritz in Manchester, England. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.
Speaking to PureGrainAudio's Mitch Lafon at this year's edition of the Heavy MTL festival, Beaulieu was asked if the band is planning to return to the studio soon to begin recording the follow-up to last year's "In Waves". "We've got a few things [coming up], like South America and a European headlining tour. That wraps up November 20 — [that] is the last show — but then the rest of the year is gonna be, I guess, recharging; we're taking a break. And as soon as January hits, we're pumping out a new album that will hopefully be out maybe August or September next year; that's kind of the goal."
According to the guitarist, TRIVIUM has been amassing new ideas for the past few months while touring the world in support of the band's latest CD.
"The whole time we're on tour, we're always writing," he said. "So we're always coming up with ideas and we've been demoing, just on a laptop, in the back of the bus — very do-it-yourself-type stuff. But it sounds great. We're really getting the ideas worked out and we're just trying as much done on tour that we can possibly do and get the songs as best as they can be, so once we get off tour, we don't have to sit around for a couple of months trying to figure out what the fuck we're doing. We just wanna get in the studio and get this stuff recorded."
TRIVIUM's latest album, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career.

HELSTAR: New Audio Interview With JAMES RIVERA
- Oct. 28, 2012
On October 17, Brian Rademacher of RockEyez conducted an interview with vocalist James Rivera of Texas-based metal veterans HELSTAR. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.
HELSTAR has commenced the songwriting process for its new CD. The band states, "We can promise you one thing: HELSTAR will write and deliver the best album we can produce within our power. We hope to begin recording in the spring of 2013."
HELSTAR released "30 Years Of Hel", a DVD containing footage of the band's March 24, 2012 30-year-anniversary hometown show at Warehouse Live in Houston, on October 2 in North America (August 31 in Europe) via AFM Records. The DVD+2CD set includes footage of the band performing songs spanning its entire career, including material from the often-overlooked "Multiples Of Black" release. The package also features interviews with each bandmember, as well as with the entire group, conducted by "Robb's MetalWorks" and focusing specifically on this milestone.
The "Toward The Unknown" performance from the "30 Years Of Hel" DVD can be seen below.
HELSTAR released its latest album, "Glory Of Chaos", in November 2010 via Germany's AFM Records.
Formed in Houston in the early '80s, HELSTAR cut its teeth playing backyard parties and small club gigs. It soon became apparent that HELSTAR had much more to offer then its contemporaries. Combat Records snapped up the band and released HELSTAR's debut, "Burning Star", in 1984. Next came "Remnants of War", followed by HELSTAR's breakthrough album, "A Distant Thunder", in 1988. The success of "A Distant Thunder" ultimately set up HELSTAR's most critically acclaimed album, 1989's "Nosferatu".

SOULFLY's MAX CAVALERA And His Stepson Interviewed In Vienna (Video)
- Oct. 28, 2012
Austria's Stormbringer.at webzine conducted an interview with Max Cavalera (SOULFLY, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, SEPULTURA) and his stepson Richie Cavalera (INCITE) on October 15 in Vienna, Austria. You can now watch the chat below.
SOULFLY's eighth album, "Enslaved", sold 5,900 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 82 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Omen", opened with 6,000 units in June 2010 to land at No. 73.
"Enslaved" was released on March 13 via Roadrunner Records. The CD was recorded at TallCat Studios in Phoenix, Arizona and was produced by Chris "Zeuss" Harris, the seasoned knob twiddler behind some of the most notable bands in metal today, such as SHADOWS FALL, HATEBREED, THE RED CHORD and more.
SOULFLY's current lineup features mainman Max Cavalera and guitar dynamo Marc Rizzo, with STATIC-X's Tony Campos taking up the bass. Drummer David Kinkade (BORKNAGAR, ARSIS, MALEVOLENT CREATION), who played on "Enslaved", left the band earlier this month in order to focus on his personal life.

CRADLE OF FILTH: New Audio Interview With PAUL ALLENDER
- Oct. 28, 2012
On October 24, Rustyn Rose of Metalholic.com conducted an interview with guitarist Paul Allender of British extreme metallers CRADLE OF FILTH. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.
CRADLE OF FILTH's tenth studio album, "The Manticore And Other Horrors", will be released in North America on October 30 via Nuclear Blast Records.
The track listing for the CD is as follows:
01. The Unveiling Of O 02. The Abhorrent 03. For Your Vulgar Delectation 04. Illicitus 05. Manticore 06. Frost On Her Pillow 07. Huge Onyx Wings Behind Despair 08. Pallid Reflection 09. Siding With The Titans 10. Succumb To This 11. Nightmares Of An Ether Drinker 12. Death, The Great Adventure (deluxe edition digipak) 13. Sinfonia (deluxe edition digipak)
A mini-site for "The Manticore And Other Horrors"has been launched, featuring album audio, information, gallery, desktop downloads, plus a chance to download the track "For Your Vulgar Delectation" for free.
Recorded in eight weeks at both Springvale and Grindstone studios (where it was also mixed by Scott Atkins), Suffolk, "The Manticore And Other Horrors" is a testament to the longevity of the 'FILTH, as not only does it reek of CRADLE's (feared or revered) brand of delicious metal vamperotica, but this thoroughly modern album places the band firmly in fresh killing fields anew.
"The Manticore And Other Horrors" itself possesses an altogether new atmosphere for the band, incorporating a heavier, faster NWOBBM punk vibe that is both current and cruel, blended with ornate orchestration and the quirky immediateness of 2000's "Midian" opus.
The album's title can be likened to a bestiary, a collection of stories on monsters - personal demons, Chimeras, literary fiends and world-enslaving entities to blame but a few. "Manticore", the ravening title track, is a song about a beautiful mythological horror that comes to be feared as the disfigurehead of foreign occupation in the Indian provinces.
The songs "Illicitus" and "Pallid Reflection" bear the sweet ingredients of vampirism and lycanthropy; the wicked "For Your Vulgar Delectation" and "Frost On Her Pillow" are woven perversely into grim fairy tales, whilst classic, monumental tracks like "The Abhorrent And Siding With The Titans" both extol tentacular Lovecraftian values.

TOMAHAWK: Video Footage Of Entire Nashville Concert
- Oct. 28, 2012
Fan-filmed video footage of TOMAHAWK's entire October 27 performance at Exit/In in Nashville, Tennessee can be seen at this location. A couple of the clips are available below.
TOMAHAWK is the alt-rock supergroup featuring Duane Denison (THE JESUS LIZARD, UNSEMBLE), Mike Patton (FAITH NO MORE, FANTÔMAS), John Stanier (BATTLES, HELMET) and Trevor Dunn (MELVINS LITE, MR. BUNGLE).
The band's new album, "Oddfellows", is scheduled for release on January 29, 2013 via Ipecac.
In a brand new interview with Nashville Scene, Denison stated about the new CD, "Some of this album is, to me, fairly straightforward hard rock, and then some of it is ... I don't know what you'd call it — avant-pop or something? If anything, I think the album is a bit hookier and has bigger choruses than anything we've done. There's a lot of group vocals from song to song, almost these Greek choruses showing up. To me, it's kind of depressing when I go see a band or hear a record where the songs all have a similar rhythmic feel or the vocals always start on the downbeat. At the same time, you don't want things to be so different that it doesn't even sound like it's the same band. You want it to sound like it's the same people with the same point of view — you're just expressing it in a different way."
"Stone Letter", the new single from TOMAHAWK, is available for streaming at Spin.com.
"Stone Letter" will be released as a limited-edition seven-inch single on Record Store Day's Black Friday event on November 23. The track will also be made available digitally on December 4. The B-side will be an original etching by famed cartoonist and comics scholar Ivan Brunetti.
TOMAHAWK has been dormant for the past five years after releasing a trio of albums: "Tomahawk" in 2001, "Mit Gas" in 2003 and "Anonymous" in 2007.

Video footage of John Corabi and his solo band performing the song "If I Had A Dime" from his "Unplugged" CD on August 18 at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston, Michigan can be seen below. The clip was shot and edited by Scott Nolen.
Corabi originally joined CRÜE in 1992 as the replacement for the group's original singer, Vince Neil, who was fired due to personal differences. With Corabi on vocals, MÖTLEY CRÜE released one critically acclaimed full-length CD, which ended up being a commercial failure in the wake of grunge despite a Top-Ten placing on the album chart. When Neil returned to the fold in 1997, Corabi was left on his own and formed the band UNION with ex-KISS guitarist Bruce Kulick.

"Blackoustic", the first-ever acoustic album by Finnish heavy metal singer Timo Kotipelto (STRATOVARIUS, CAIN'S OFFERING, KOTIPELTO) and guitarist Jani Liimatainen (CAIN'S OFFERING, ex-SONATA ARCTICA), has entered the official chart in their home country at position No. 13. The CD will be released on October 19 via earMUSIC.
The duo has been working together and playing acoustic shows for a while, and the idea of recording an acoustic album came from the fans.
Comments Kotipelto: "The fans were recording our shows with their cell phones and the've been telling us that we should make an album, so they could have better quality recordings of the songs to listen at home. At first, we were just joking about it, but after a while we thought, 'Why not? As far as we know, not many people have done it before, at least not within the heavier music genre. Our initial idea was to make a self-financed album with a relatively small pressing and then just maybe sell them at our shows."
But instead of making it a "fan-club release," the duo has opted to work with the label earMUSIC/Edel, which also releases STRATOVARIUS's work since the album "Polaris".
Most of the songs were chosen from the duo's live setlist, including familiar STRATOVARIUS covers like "Black Diamond" and "Hunting High and Low", but also songs like "Serenity" and "Sleep Well" from Kotipelto's solo albums have been given the new acoustic treatment; proving that behind great heavy metal song, there's very often a stunning melody "screaming" to come out. Furthermore, the album includes beautiful cover versions of PETE TOWNSHEND's "Behind Blue Eyes" and DEEP PURPLE's classic "Perfect Strangers".
"Blackoustic" also features a brand new composition, "Where My Rainbow Ends", written by Jani Liimatainen, who says: "I remembered a song I wrote last winter. Originally it was an instrumental track, but after listening back to it I thought that the melody would work very well with vocals. We re-arranged the song into our acoustic format and — as a slave of habit — I wrote the lyrics for it the night before our last day of recording. It turned out surprisingly beautiful and delicate." "Jani's new song is a beautiful ballad," adds Kotipelto. "We have quite a few ballads on this album, as even the more rock oriented songs tend to sound more ballad-esque when performed by a duo."
"Blackoustic" was recorded at Kotipelto's cottage at Lappajärvi and mixed and mastered by the STRATOVARIUS guitarist / studio wizard Matias Kupiainen.
The duo will also hit the road in Finland in support of the album, although the first show was on the sea, performing at the Radio Rock cruise on the Baltic Princess on September 8.
"Blackoustic" track listing:
01. Sleep Well 02. Out In The Fields 03. Black Diamond 04. My Selene 05. Behind Blue Eyes 06. Hunting High And Low 07. Where My Rainbow Ends 08. Speed Of Light 09. Perfect Strangers 10. Coming Home 11. Serenity 12. Rainbow Eyes 13. Karjalan Kunnailla

HATRIOT: Quality Oakland Footage Available
- Oct. 28, 2012
Quality video footage of HATRIOT, the new San Francisco Bay Area thrash metal band led by former EXODUS and LEGACY (pre-TESTAMENT) frontman Steve "Zetro" Souza, performing the song "Murder American Style" on October 25 at The New Parish in Oakland, California can be seen below (courtesy of Capital Chaos TV).
HATRIOT will release its debut album, "Heroes Of Origin", on January 25, 2013 via Germany's Massacre Records. The CD was recorded with producer Juan Urteaga (MACHINE HEAD, EXODUS, TESTAMENT) and features guest appearances BY TESTAMENT 's Chuck Billy and MACHINE HEAD 's Phil Demmel . The cover artwork is being created by Mark Devito, who has previously worked with MOTÖRHEAD and ANVIL CHORUS, among others.
HATRIOT's new drummer is none other than Steve's 18-year-old son, Nicholas Souza. Nicholas auditioned for the band after the recent departure of Alex Bent and "proved himself to be the best choice," according to Steve.
HATRIOT's lineup also includes Zetro's 21-year-old son Cody, who got his first bass as a present from his father after Zetro bought it off current EXODUS bassist Jack Gibson. "I told him," Zetro said in a recent interview with Metalholic.com, "'You have to try out [for the bassist position in HATRIOT if you want to be in the band]. There's no nepotism here, boy. If you can hang, you're on.' So he actually tried out, and he got the gig."
Regarding HATRIOT's musical direction, Zetro said, "It's in the vein of typical Bay Area thrash, but these guys are a lot younger, so there's gonna be some blast-beats in there. There's gonna be some kind of death [metal] approach to it, a little bit. 'Cause these guys are new. They're raw, and they're fast, young, heavy, hard and aggressive, and I'm trying to convey that along as well."
He added, "These new kids seem to understand what we did in the '80s, but still bring a little bit of a new essence to it. We put that together with what I write vocally and it's turned out to be really, really killer. It's good stuff."
Asked why he thinks thrash metal has enjoyed something of a revival in more recent years, Zetro told Über Röck, "You know, I get asked this a lot, and I think it is because the first wave of thrash came and went so fast. I mean, it started in the mid-'80s and was gone by 1991 or so. The older bands still have something to say, and I feel that's why they are still able to put out great music so many years later. Now the fans that were young kids back then have bands of their own, so these new bands are naturally influenced by the old sound and it has come full circle. Of course, with technology and things like they are today, it is a totally different ballgame when it comes to marketing the music. I don't know that there will ever be another band as big as the 'Big Four' or anything, because the business structure just isn't there anymore, but it is really cool to see these new bands carrying the torch of what we helped invent back in the old scene."
HATRIOT's "Blood Stained Wings" video can be seen below.

The track comes off the group's debut album, "Between Here & Lost", which will be released on November 20 via Tooth & Nail Records. Recorded in Nashville with producer Jasen Rauch (RED, BREAKING BENJAMIN) and mixed by Paul Pavao, Ben Grosse (MARILYN MANSON, DISTURBED) and Jim Monti (KORN), the CD consists of 11 tracks, ranging from songs about personal struggle and triumph ("Chemicals", "My Disaster", "Paralyzed") to emotionally charged anthems ("Fading Away", "Watching The Bottom Fall") to a riff-heavy rendition of DEVO's 1980 hit "Whip It".
LOVE & DEATH is comprised of Welch, lead guitarist JR Bareis, bassist Michael Valentine, and drummer Dan Johnson.
Like the album title suggests, "Between Here & Lost" captures the honesty of light and darkness, beauty and tragedy, good and evil, delivered by a band with intense passion and commitment to the message of its music.
"This record was birthed from trials, tribulations, pain, suffering, anxiety, depression, and drama," states Welch. "However, we came out on top and the end result is a very real, raw and honest record. We are so stoked for people to hear it! From our opening song, 'The Abandoning', to our cover of DEVO's 'Whip it', to our collaboration with Mattie Montgomery from FOR TODAY on 'I W8 4 U', It's an exciting piece of art and the listener will feel the different range of emotions with the lyrics and melodies of each song."
"Between Here & Lost" track listing:
01. The Abandoning 02. Whip It 03. Watching The Bottom Fall 04. By The Way... 05. Meltdown 06. My Disaster 07. I W8 4 U (featuring Mattie Montgomery) 08. Fading Away 09. Paralyzed 10. Chemicals 11. Bruises
LOVE & DEATH formed when Welch decided to have open auditions on YouTube in 2009. "I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix," says Welch. "Over the last couple of years, there have been a few lineup changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of LOVE & DEATH."
LOVE & DEATH will be touring extensively in 2013 to support the effort.

TRAPT's 'Reborn' Pushed Back To January
- Oct. 28, 2012
The release date of "Reborn", the brand new album from California rockers TRAPT, has been pushed back to January 22, 2013 from the previously announced November 20. No reason was given for the delay.
"Reborn" (Epochal Artist Records) will be made available in a standard version as well as a deluxe edition which will feature five acoustic songs from "Reborn" as well as the never-before-released fan favorite "Avelyn". The CD was produced by TRAPT vocalist Chris Taylor Brown and Matt Thorne, known for his work with THE EELS, THE DONNAS and BONNIE MCKEE.
"This record is really a new sound for TRAPT," states Brown. "With 'Reborn', we really wanted to use new sounds and textures as well as experiment with delays, reverbs, synths and many other techniques we have learned over the years or have heard in our influences. Lyrically, this album is as deep and thoughtful as any album that TRAPT has done in the past."
From the opening note of the first single, "Bring It", to the album closer, "You're No Angel", it is clear TRAPT is back to pick up where previous hits such as "Headstrong", "Echo" and "Who's Going Home With You Tonight?" left off.
"Bring It" impacts radio the week of October 1 and was also just released to iTunes in double single format bundled alongside "Love Hate Relationship". A video for the first single was recently shot in Las Vegas and will be released in the next few weeks.
TRAPT will be heading out on tour in support of "Reborn". The trek kicks off October 24 in Las Vegas and runs through November 29, wrapping up in Chico, California.

TRAPT is Chris Taylor Brown on vocals, Robb Torres on guitar, Pete Charell on bass and Dylan Thomas Howard on drums.

Video: METALLICA Guitarist Signs Copies Of 'Too Much Horror Business' Book In Los Angeles
- Oct. 28, 2012
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett signed copies of his book, "Too Much Horror Business - The Kirk Hammett Collection", this past Thursday, October 25 at Barnes & Noble at The Grove in Los Angeles. You can watch fan-filmed video footage of the event below.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, Hammett, who has been collecting items and watching horror movies since he was a child, told Loudwire why he thinks the genre is so popular. He explained, "They're just fun. They're a fun experience. It's not unlike a roller coaster ride, you know? A good horror movie should have peaks and valleys, a good horror movie should move you emotionally, a good horror movie should be exciting to watch and energizing in a weird kind of way . . . horror movies deliver that."
Hammett added, "I've always been attracted to the darker things in life. I was never one to go for light, airy stuff, even as a child. My whole aesthetic has always been one of the darker side. That rings true also in my tastes in music."
Asked to name his favorite horror films, Hammett mentioned movies like 1932's "The Mummy" and a '70s low-budget cheesefest called "Dracula Vs. Frankenstein" before saying, "To me, it's just endless. I think about certain movies and I think, 'Oh, that's my favorite.' Then I think about others and I say, 'No, that's my favorite.' It's so difficult for me."
The book's title is taken from a song by punk legends the MISFITS and Hammett was asked if he spoke with any members of the band about using it. He replied, "I told Glenn [Danzig, singer] that I was making this book when I saw him last December. He seemed all right with it. I think by now if he wasn't all right with it I would've heard something."

MACHINE HEAD's DEMMEL, DUCE Interviewed On 'Metal Zone' (Video)
- Oct. 28, 2012
On October 19, "Metal Zone" host Nikki Blakk of the San Francisco, California radio station 107.7 The Bone conducted an interview with guitarist Phil Demmel and bassist Adam Duce of San Francisco Bay Area metallers MACHINE HEAD. You can now watch the chat below.
MACHINE HEAD will release a new live album, "Machine Fucking Head Live", on November 13 via Roadrunner Records. It's the band's second live effort — "Hellalive" was released in 2003 — but in the nine years that have passed, the group has only gained in power; MACHINE HEAD still slay and administer a beating in the live realm.
"Machine Fucking Head Live" was recorded at various tour stops across the globe last year. It features songs from throughout the band's expansive catalog, including crowd favorites like "Imperium", "Aesthetics of Hate", "Locust", "Ten Ton Hammer", "This is the End" and "Halo".
"The Head Cases [MACHINE HEAD's nickname for the band's fans] have been so intense on this tour cycle that we had to start capturing the shows, especially with technology making it so much easier to record," said frontman Robb Flynn. "We culled some of the best nights where the band and crowd were on fire and made a badass, nearly two-hour, double live album, which is a great documentation of where the band is at, 18 years deep."
"Machine Fucking Head Live" track listing:
01. I Am Hell (Sonata in C#) 02. Be Still And Know 03. Imperium 04. Beautiful Mourning 05. The Blood, The Sweat, The Tears 06. Locust 07. This Is The End 08. Aesthetics Of Hate 09. Old 10. Darkness Within 11. Bulldozer 12. Ten Ton Hammer 13. Who We Are 14. Halo 15. Davidian
A performance clip of the song "Imperium", taken from "Machine Fucking Head Live", can be seen below.
"Machine Fucking Head Live" was mixed and mastered at Trident Studios in Pacheco, California by Juan Urteaga and Robb Flynn.
MACHINE HEAD will hit the road in North America with DETHKLOK, ALL THAT REMAINS and THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER beginning October 30.

AEROSMITH's TYLER, PERRY To Guest On 'The View'
- Oct. 28, 2012
According to Interbridge.com's "The Late Night TV Page", AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler and guitarist Joe Perry will guest on the November 2 edition of the ABC daytime talk show "The View".. Check your local listings for details.
AEROSMITH will complete their contract with Columbia Records on November 6 with the release of the band's new album, "Music From Another Dimension", and the group may join the ranks of acts like RADIOHEAD, NINE INCH NAILS and PEARL JAM who have left the major label world behind.
According to The Pulse Of Radio, AEROSMITH singer Steven Tyler told reporters on a conference call earlier in the month that "if the band stays together, yeah, we'll definitely go that route, something somewhere over there. We've been keeping record companies stocked with millions of shekels for years, been making a lot of people rich — not that we haven't, but every now and then you get into arguments with labels (and) you think, 'Where is all this money going?' We've definitely thought of putting stuff out."
Guitarist Joe Perry was more cautious about the idea, however, saying, "We've talked about every idea you can think of out there, and we really don't know. There's so many different directions we can go."
"Music From Another Dimension" is AEROSMITH's first album of all-new material in 11 years, although three singles released so far from the disc — "Legendary Child", "What Could Have Been Love" and "Lover Alot" — have failed to catch fire at radio stations.
The band will begin a new leg of touring on November 8 in Oklahoma City, and plans to follow that with a world tour in 2013.

It's about my life. It's not about just… Of course, it's about drugs, sex and rock and roll. But it's about my parents, my growing up, getting through Brooklyn, going through gangs, getting into drugs, getting out of them, getting through cancer. I'm four years free of cancer now, so that's why I've got my pink shoelaces on. I'm doing great."
In a press release issued last year, Criss said, "I am so blessed that I am finally going to write my autobiography, and I hope you enjoy the ride. The best of all is I get to share my true feelings of my love for God, family, friends and fame. It's been a wonderful life."

DEF LEPPARD Singer Interviewed On 'Nights With Alice Cooper' (Audio)
- Oct. 28, 2012
DEF LEPPARD frontman Joe Elliott was interviewed on a recent edition of Alice Cooper's radio show, "Nights With Alice Cooper". You can now stream the chat using the SoundCloud player below.
"Nights With Alice Cooper" is produced and distributed by the United Stations Radio Networks. It is broadcast on over 100 radio stations in the U.S., seven in Canada, and is also available in the U.K., Germany, Ireland, Australia, Denmark, Sweden and New Zealand. In addition, dozens of affiliate stations stream the show.
DEF LEPPARD recently joined the long list of rockers who have re-recorded their biggest hits in note-perfect renditions. Elliott shed some light on the new "2012" versions of "Pour Some Sugar On Me" and "Rock Of Ages", now available at various digital retailers. Elliott told MTV, "How can I put this politely? We were having a major disagreement with our ex-record label about the digital rights for our back catalog. We couldn't come to a mutual understanding that seemed fair for both sides. So we finally just decided to re-record all our hits. We started with 'Sugar' and 'Rock Of Ages', and I think we did a pretty good job. It's hard work trying to recreate something you did 30 years ago."
When pressed on the fact that despite all the care taken, re-recordings never seems to sound identical to the original release, Elliott said: "We got the same sounds, the same key, the same tempo. It was a 100 percent forgery. That was the idea, anyway. . . [We were] very conscious of the fact that when people download our songs from iTunes, they want it to sound like they remember it."

FEAR FACTORY: New Video Interview With BURTON C. BELL
- Oct. 28, 2012
Metal Storm conducted an interview with singer Burton C. Bell of Los Angeles cyber metallers FEAR FACTORY on October 27 in Nottingham, England. You can now watch the chat below.
FEAR FACTORY's video for the title track of their new album, "The Industrialist", was directed and edited by James Zahn. The clip utilizes live footage of the band from this past June's Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium against a visual backdrop that pulls topical subjects from the story written by vocalist Burton C. Bell that served as inspiration for the group's latest CD.
A part of "The Industrialist" video was revealed earlier this year leading up to the release of the album. Over half a million views of the excerpt has been logged to date. Now with the full video, the visual door to the concepts presented on the album are available for music fans to experience. Bell says, "We allowed James to take his time to create the video so that he could match his expertise with the conceptual imagery that was written in 'The Industrialist'. Being that he has been a long-time fan of FEAR FACTORY, he understood the nature of the FF machine; the concepts, imagery, and history. I believe he achieved a new era for FEAR FACTORY video concepts."
As a longtime fan of FEAR FACTORY, Zahn knew his work on "The Industrialist" would be enhanced by his extensive knowledge of the band.
"Growing up listening to FEAR FACTORY and being captivated with the heavy industrial scene of the 1990s, the one thing that always stuck with me was the accompanying visual aspect," he says. "Those videos that featured stock footage intercut with live performance clips were such a staple of the time and helped in editing 'The Industrialist'. Broken technology working alongside machinery in the midst of social change served as inspiration."
FEAR FACTORY has been touring non-stop, with only 16 shows on U.S. soil since the release of "The Industrialist". Making stops in Venezuela, Brazil, New Zealand, Australia, Japan, and next week set to embark on their second European trek (a 41-city endeavor with support from DEVIN TOWNSEND PROJECT), Bell with guitarist Dino Cazares, bassist Matt DeVries and drummer Mike Heller are one well-tuned performance machine. Their set currently consists of selections from "The Industrialist", 2010's "Mechanize" and classics from the FEAR FACTORY vault. Cazares notes, "We are beyond pumped to bring this new leg of the 'World Industrialist' tour cycle overseas with a mighty package. We have added a few classics which have not been in our set list for some time. We are ready to unleash the new Machines Of Hate unto all."
FEAR FACTORY has confirmed the first of many shows expected for 2013; a hometown show at Key Club in West Hollywood, California on January 26. PRONG, THROWN INTO EXILE and SCRAP METAL will open the concert. It will be the band's first performance in Los Angeles in over two years.
"The Industrialist" sold 9,300 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 38 on The Billboard 200 chart. The band's previous CD, "Mechanize", opened with 10,000 units back in February 2010 to land at No. 72.
TESLA Singer's Country EP Due Next Month
- Oct. 28, 2012
TESLA frontman Jeff Keith will release a country-music EP, "Jeff Keith And Country Music Friends", on November 9. The six-song effort is now available for pre-order at Jeff's newly launched web site, JeffKeithCountry.com, with the first 500 copies being personally autographed by Keith.
Says Jeff: "Once upon a time, I was playing a TESLA show in Canada when Kent Goodson and Pat Boone from the George Jones band came to see us. The next thing you know, us three were on a pontoon boat in Nashville fulfilling a dream I've always had writing country music songs."
He continues, "I've wanted to do a country project since my early days of growing up in Oklahoma, and with the help of a couple of buddies of mine, it's now reality.
"Kent played with George Jones for 28 years, and Pat still runs sound for George now for over nine years, and I have been the lead singer for TESLA for over 25 years now.
"We hope that this EP will allow us to record a full-length studio album, recorded in Nashville, Tennessee!
"Put on your cowboy hat and chime on in. There is a lot more yet to come."
"Jeff Keith And Country Music Friends" track listing:

Video: DEVIN TOWNSEND Performs STRAPPING YOUNG LAD Material For First Time In Years
- Oct. 28, 2012
Renowned multi-instrumentalist, singer, songwriter, producer and now ringleader Devin Townsend performed a couple of songs from his STRAPPING YOUNG LAD project for the first time in years last night (Saturday, October 27) at the Roundhouse venue in London, England as part of a one-night-only event that was recorded for both DVD and Blu-ray, likely to be released sometime in the second quarter of 2013 via InsideOut Music. Devin was joined on stage for the STRAPPING YOUNG LAD tracks by the band's former guitarist Jed Simon, who wrote on his Facebook page after the concert, "Well, all done and the cat is out of the bag. It was an awesome experience and my heart feels that much better because of it. You are my brother and my friend, Dev. Thank you." He added, "Byron [Stroud, SYL bassist] and Gene [Hoglan, SYL drummer]...you were on my sleeve, my brothers. I love you."
Devin described The Retinal Circus as "a retrospective of my career in music to date, with the central theme being a metaphor of how life and the adventures therein are a 'circus' of sorts. The show involves a cast of characters and guests that support this theme through carnival type performances. A story about how a troubled young man dreams of fantastic scenarios, (illustrated through the music of my back catalogue), which ultimately crests in the characters realization that life is all about the relationships we have with each other. This is the first opportunity I have been given to make theatrical representations of my music."
This three-hour-plus performance included:
* A retrospective of Devin Townsend's entire career * Full choir and theatrical cast * Visual and aural enhancements unlike any show Devin has done to date * Several special guests * Circus and carnival performances and cast * Art exhibit of Devin's albums, including explanations of each album
In a January 2012 interview, Devin stated about his decision to put STRAPPING YOUNG LAD to rest, "I don't miss the environment; the environment was really bad for me — it wasn't a healthy place for me to live emotionally or chemically." He added, "You have to make a choice to be happy in your life, because it's very easy to be paid to be miserable and that whole situation, although Byron, Jed and Gene are all good friends, everything that surrounded that band became very negative and I don't miss that shit at all, man … Without making that life change, [I'd] have been stuck where I was and the writing was on the wall and I say that and again I can say that until I'm blue in the face and people still wouldn't get that, but staying there would have stunted me emotionally for the rest of my life, so I chose not to. It's nothing against the music. I'm very proud of the music, I think it's awesome, but it's not me anymore."

Video: Conductor PAUL MANN Talks About JON LORD's 'Concerto For Group And Orchestra'
- Oct. 28, 2012
In the 45-minute documentary interview below, conductor Paul Mann talks about the history of Jon Lord's Concerto For Group And Orchestra and recording it in 2011-2012 with the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra and guests.
The expanded edition of late DEEP PURPLE keyboardist Jon Lord's Concerto For Group And Orchestra will be released on December 7. The book also contains Marco de Goeij's essay on how he struggled with his recreation of the Concerto and his initial meeting with Jon while he was on tour with DEEP PURPLE. Marco de Goeij caught him outside his hotel in Rotterdam and remembers the crucial moment, when Jon first heard about the reconstructed score: "Jon decided to have a look at my work right away. For the next two hours we sat in the lobby of the hotel discussing the score. With every turn of a page new thoughts and memories surfaced and at some points Jon could see his own handwriting coming through the printed score, remembering what the manuscript had looked like when he wrote it, complete with the stains caused by erasing mistakes. As he studied the work, it slowly dawned on him that it would now be possible to play the piece again. He grabbed my arm, asking, 'Are you real? Am I dreaming?'"
The DVD contains "The Making Of Concerto for Group and Orchestra", complete with unseen footage from the recording sessions in Liverpool and at Abbey Road Studios, along with filmed interviews with Paul Mann and Marco de Goeij.
Lord assembled guest musicians such as IRON MAIDEN singer Bruce Dickinson, Joe Bonamassa (BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION) and DEEP PURPLE guitarist Steve Morse at the Abbey Road Studios to work with his trusted partner, director Paul Mann, on the 2012 version of the legendary concert.
"Over these last years since leaving DEEP PURPLE, I've played it over 30 times with different orchestras and conductors all over the world, and, of course, in 2000 I did it well over 30 times with PURPLE on the Concerto tour, so I've been honing the piece live on stage and I've had the opportunity to change things in the score that weren't sounding quite right," Lord said in a May 2011 interview. "It is therefore a marvelous and exciting prospect to have the definitive recording of the definitive version of the score."
He added, "I'm thrilled to have the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic on board. I have immensely enjoyed working with them on several occasions since recording Durham Concerto with them in 2007. They are a wonderful group of players, and with Paul Mann conducting — a dear friend and a man who knows the score inside out — there couldn't be a better conductor and orchestra for this studio recording of the Concerto."
On July 16, Lord passed away in London at the age of 71. This album is a joyful testament of a great musician and fantastic man.
"His dignity and graciousness touched us all," the surviving members of DEEP PURPLE said in a statement following Lord's passing. "His music was an inspiration and took us to places beyond our imagination… A truly great man. We humbly express our eternal love and great respect."
Jon Lord's Concerto For Group And Orchestra was released on September 25 via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
The track listing is as follows:
01. Movement One 02. Movement Two 03. Movement Three

DORO PESCH: Video Footage Of Q&A From Sweden's 'Rockmässan'
- Oct. 28, 2012
German metal queen Doro Pesch took part in a question-and-answer session at the Swedish metal convention Rockmässan on Saturday, October 27 in Malmö, Sweden. You can now watch video footage of her appearance in two parts below.
Doro's latest EP, "Raise Your Fist In The Air", was released on August 3. A full-length album, "Raise Your Fist", followed on October 19 via Nuclear Blast Records.
In a recent interview with Lords Of Metal, Doro stated about the the switch from her previous label home (AFM Records) to Nuclear Blast, "The record deal with AFM was up and I decided to check if some other options were available. My current guitar player, Bas Maas, who was in AFTER FOREVER, told me that he had good experiences with Nuclear Blast and that it was a great label to be on. Furthermore, there were several people that I've worked with in the past that moved from AFM to Nuclear Blast, like Sandra Eichner and Markus Wosgien, and they also told me that it would be a good label for me. Of course, Nuclear Blast is bigger than AFM and has worldwide distribution, which is also very important for us, as we play shows across the globe. I'm still very good friends with the people from AFM and I was also very much involved in the release of the compilation album 'Under My Skin' that was released by them a couple of weeks ago, as I wrote liner notes for all the songs that are on that album."
Regarding the departure of guitarist Joe Taylor and addition of Bas Maas, Doro said, "I don't think that it made a very big difference on the songwriting process, but Bas is a person that's full of life and very energetic. You can hear that on 'Revenge', which is a song that he wrote the riff for, which is a very high-energy and fast type of song. Furthermore, he's great as a live guitarist as well, as he really knows how to rock on stage and that's very important for a show. I'm still very good friends with Joe, who's been in the band for about sixteen years, and he joined us on stage during the show we did last October in New York. But the non-stop touring that we do is a hard lifestyle and he really wanted to take some time off from that."
On the topic of her expectations for "Raise Your Fist", Doro said, "I will be very happy when the fans say they love the record; that's the most important for me. I really don't keep up with numbers, which are, in my opinion, great to talk about afterwards. It's nice if we will be able to make the charts again, but to me, those kind of things don't really matter. Much more important is that the fans dig the songs in a live situation and, since we already played 'Raise Your Fist' several times live, the first signs are very positive."

SINNER To Re-Record Best Songs From Early Albums For 'Touch Of Sin 2'
- Oct. 28, 2012
German hard rock institution SINNER, which is fronted by PRIMAL FEAR bassist Mat Sinner, will enter the studio soon to begin work on an album of re-recorded versions of the best songs from the band's early years. The resulting collection, which is tentatively titled "Touch Of Sin 2" (in a nod to SINNER's 1985 album, "Touch Of Sin"), will be released on August 30, 2013 via AFM Records.
Commented Sinner: "When we were younger and new to the music business, we were proud to be part of the Noise Records family and to get the chance to sign a contract with them. Reading this contract so many years later, you can't but shake your head in disbelief and wonder what must have possessed us. The exclusive rights to the recordings have since been bought and sold numerous times with the effect that none of those who owned them has ever had any relation to either the production itself or to how it was created.
"Today, the older SINNER songs still enjoy great popularity within the scene. We continue to play them live, even though the CDs aren't available any longer. It is Universal who owns the albums at the moment — but does not distribute the CDs. Therefore, they're to be held responsible that CDs from this era can only be purchased at exorbitant prices. Unfortunately, the musicians and songwriters involved have no means of dealing with the matter — our hands are tied.
"When I offered to do a remix on several songs for a best-of album, I was told that the original tapes have mysteriously disappeared and were probably burned in an 'accidental' fire. That much about the pearls of our past.
"AFM Records and I — business partners for many years — came up with the idea to once again record the best songs from this era. The album was supposed to feature several guests and to come with a wicked fan package. Initially, I was sceptical. But recent shows have shown the amount of fun and energy the band would put into these songs. However, I will only put this plan into action under one condition: the whole band has to lock themselves into the studio and record the whole thing together. I'm fed up with the assumption that it works if everyone records their stuff at home or comes cheaper. That's bullshit — this challenge meets us at exactly the right time and we'll face it!"
SINNER's latest album, "One Bullet Left", was released in September 2011 via AFM Records, the CD was recorded in Stuttgart, Germany with Mat Sinner producing and Achim Köhler engineering.
SINNER's current lineup features Mat Sinner (bass, vocals) and guitarist Christof Leim (THE NEW BLACK) along with Alex Scholpp (TARJA, FARMER BOYS) on guitar, André Hilgers (RAGE) on drums and Alex Beyrodt (PRIMAL FEAR, VOODOO CIRCLE) on third guitar.

CHURCHBURN Announces Bassist
- Oct. 28, 2012
CHURCHBURN — the musical collaboration between two of the undergrounds masters of misery Dave Suzuki, best known for his mesmerizing guitar work and brutal drumming in VITAL REMAINS and Ray McCaffrey, who carved out sonic drum patterns for SIN OF ANGELS and GRIEF — has announced the addition of bassist Kevin Edwards (THRILLHOUSE) to group's ranks.
Commented McCaffrey: "Dave, Shawn [McCoy, guitar], and I know that Kevin brings a lot to the table and not only strengthens our band but shares our passion for the music. We are very happy to welcome Kevin into our ranks and look forward to working with him."
According to a press release, Suzuki and McCaffrey have set out to share with the world their love of the riff, not only the heaviest but also the most haunting. Each song is crafted with the most sinister of intent. CHURCHBURN wants the listener to feel a true sense of dread as the song progresses.
"CHURCHBURN is very different from VITAL REMAINS," said Suzuki. "Ray and I wanted to do something slow and heavy...just something pummeling to the listener."
CHURCHBURN is:
Dave Suzuki - Guitar, Vocals Ray Mccaffrey - Drums, Vocals Shawn McCoy - Guitar Kevin Edwards - Bass
The band is currently writing and demoing material for its debut album, tentatively due in early 2013 via an as-yet-undetermined record label.

METALLICA: Pro-Shot Footage Of 'Voodoo Music + Arts Experience' Performance
- Oct. 28, 2012
Professionally filmed video footage of METALLICA's October 27 performance at the Voodoo Music + Arts Experience at New Orleans City Park can be seen below. The band joined the festival billing as the replacement for GREEN DAY, which canceled its Voodoo appearance two weeks ago, presumably due to frontman Billie Joe Armstrong's onstage breakdown and subsequent rehab enrollment.
METALLICA's setlist was as follows:
01. Hit The Lights 02. Master Of Puppets 03. Holier Than Thou 04. Harvester Of Sorrow 05. Of Wolf And Man 06. Welcome Home (Sanitarium) 07. All Nightmare Long 08. Sad But True 09. Fade To Black 10. Orion 11. One 12. For Whom The Bell Tolls 13. Blackened 14. Nothing Else Matters 15. Enter Sandman 16. Creeping Death 17. Battery 18. Seek And Destroy
METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett spoke to Fuse about the band's addition to to the lineup for Voodoo Music + Arts Experience.
"We got a message about [in early October] asking us if we're able to fill in for GREEN DAY, because Billie Joe was having some issues. We discussed it between the four of us and we all said, 'Yeah, it would be great thing for us to do and it would also be great to help out Billie Joe, 'cause he's a friend of ours and we love GREEN DAY. If we can help them out in any way possible, we're always happy to do it, 'cause we love those guys. It's actually an honor for us that they approached us and asked if we can fill in. So we're doing it, and I'm really excited about it."
He added, "New Orleans is known for its legends of voodoo and also vampires and haunted houses and haunted cemetaries and alligators. I love New Orleans. I love any city that has that sort of folklore behind it. I'm really looking forward to going there and hanging out, especially during the whole Halloween season."
Asked if METALLICA had anything special in mind for the Voodoo set, like playing an album front to back like they did at at Orion Music + More in June, Hammett said, "We haven't really discussed it yet. It's still new and a pretty early development. When I see the guys next week, I'm sure we're going to discuss our plan of attack."

SASS JORDAN To Guest On JAKE E. LEE's New Album
- Oct. 28, 2012
Singer Sass Jordan, a Canadian icon and Juno Award winner, has recorded a guest appearance on the track "Redeem Me" from ex-OZZY OSBOURNE/BADLANDS guitarist Jake E. Lee.
A photo of Jordan and Lee taken this past week in Las Vegas can be seen below.
Lee is back after over a decade in seclusion. In great shape mentally, physically and spiritually, Jake is ready to return and bring his brand of unique playing and music to the world.
In the process of recording his new album at Las Vegas' The Hideout Studios — owned and operated by Kevin Churko (OZZY OSBOURNE, FIVE FINGER DEATH PUNCH, IN THIS MOMENT) — Lee's first new release will feature a combination of legendary rock artists and some of the biggest names of new metal. Already recorded are guest appearances by Robin Zander (CHEAP TRICK), Paul Di'Anno (IRON MAIDEN), Maria Brink (IN THIS MOMENT), with many other big names attached to the project.
Jake has launched search for a new vocalist who will sing at least one track on the new album and will join Lee on a world tour starting in late spring 2013.
Criteria: Must be capable of singing a couple of OZZY OSBOURNE and BADLANDS songs, plus tracks from Lee's new album while still having a strong enough identity to be able carry the band into the future, as Jake will head straight back into the studio after the touring to begin a new album with the new band.
What to do: Send an email to Ronnie@HideoutLV.com containing an MP3, or a link to an MP3 of yourself singing a OZZY OSBOURNE or BADLANDS songs. Then submit one other song or video of your choosing that you feel best represents who you are as an artist. Listen to BADLANDS' "High Wire" to see the range required for this gig. Only those vocalists that really fit what Lee is looking for will be contacted with further instructions.
Lee's new solo album is being recorded with the help of guitarist Ronnie Mancuso of BEGGARS & THIEVES, whose 2011 video, "We Come Undone", featured an appearance by Jake.
According to the All Music Guide, Lee helped Ozzy Osbourne score two of the most commercially successful releases of the singer's long and illustrious career — 1983's "Bark at the Moon" and 1986's "The Ultimate Sin". Lee eventually joined up with another former BLACK SABBATH singer (albeit briefly), Ray Gillen, and formed the LED ZEPPELIN/classic rock-esque outfit BADLANDS. Subsequently, Lee played briefly with a band called WICKED ALLIANCE before setting off on his own, issuing his solo debut, "A Fine Pink Mist", in August of 1996.
Jake E. Lee's "covers" album, "Retraced", was released in the U.S. in April 2005 via Shrapnel Records. All the songs were recorded in a "power trio" format ala BADLANDS and the tracks for the project were cover songs along that style (bluesy power rock).

DEATH ANGEL: Quality Sacramento Footage Available
- Oct. 28, 2012
Quality video footage of San Francisco Bay Area metallers DEATH ANGEL performing the song "Thrashers" on October 26 at Ace Of Spades in Sacramento, California can be seen below.
DEATH ANGEL's long-awaited DVD, "A Thrashumentary", will be released in early 2013. Guitarist Ted Aguilar recently stated about the set, "It's gonna cover the history of DEATH ANGEL from the very beginning all the way up to the current version of DEATH ANGEL now. It's gonna be jam-packed with a lot of old footage, stuff from early D.A., even their side projects after D.A., when D.A. broke up and THE ORGANIZATION formed, and the reformation of the band [for an appearance at] Thrash Of The Titans [festival in 2001]."
According to a press release, "A Thrashumentary" is a combination live video and documentary, all wrapped up in one thrashing DVD. The footage was directed by Tommy Jones (SOILWORK, KATAKLYSM) and mixed by Chris Clancy of The Studio. The film gives the viewer an in-depth look into one of the longest-running thrash acts out of the San Francisco Bay Area, a region known for turning out historic thrash bands such as METALLICA, TESTAMENT and EXODUS.
With the band surviving a span of 30 years of activity, and 25 years since the release of the classic album "The Ultra-Violence", now was the time to tell the story. Filmed on the "Relentless Retribution" world tour, the film shows the bands energetic live performance, cut with documentary-style interview footage. "Fly-on-the-wall" filming of the band talking about their career and footage of the band on the road give the viewer a personal connection to what is known as the mighty DEATH ANGEL.
