LAMB OF GOD Management Says Case Against RANDY BLYTHE 'Is Only In The Investigation Stages' - June 29, 2012
Adrenaline PR, which handles publicity for Richmond, Virginia metallers LAMB OF GOD, has released the following statement regarding the reports that the band's vocalist Randy Blythe was arrested yesterday (Thursday, June 28) in the Czech Republic and charged with manslaughter over an incident that happened more than two years ago:

"LAMB OF GOD management will be issuing an official statement on Monday regarding the charges made against singer Randy Blythe. As no formal charges have yet been made and the case is only in the investigation stages, it would be premature to make an official statement filled with false truths or innuendos.

"Having said that, management wished to address today one false piece of information that has been included in many of the news stories released so far. Under no circumstances was there a fight of any kind involved. This incident deals with a fan that three times during the concert jumped the barricade and rushed Randy during the performance. It is alleged that the third time, security was not able to reach him and that Randy pushed him back into the audience where supposedly he fell and hit his head.

"Again, until the investigation is concluded this weekend, nothing more will be released, but clarity and the facts needed to be addressed on this one reported point which is totally inaccurate."

The incident in question took place during the band's show at the Prague club Abaton in May 2010.

When LAMB OF GOD arrived on Thursday to play a show at the Rock Café in Prague with SKELETONWITCH and ALL SHALL PERISH, the local police brought Blythe in for questioning. LAMB OF GOD's appearance at the venue was canceled later in the day.

Randy's brother, Mark Blythe, told CBS-6 that he's awaiting further details and said the charge is "bogus and outrageous and will be dropped immediately."

Shortly after 9 p.m. EST, the #freerandyblythe hash tag was posted on the @lambofgodband Twitter account (which is run by a fan and not the bandmembers themselves).

That footage was never supposed to be released. Two of my friends were at that show and were filming the concert, so they ended up capturing the entire tragedy. One of the two jumped on stage along with another fan and tried to help Dime. They covered him as human shields. My friend wrapped his t-shirt around Dime's head and he and the other fan held him in their arms and tried to keep him conscious by talking to him, in which Dime did respond. Sadly, he died in their arms.

That footage was confiscated for investigative purposes and they signed a waiver stating that it would not go to the public via the news or any other medium. Of course, they lied and aired their footage on the local news stations.

My two friends are still traumatized to this day of this, and can't even set foot at that venue anymore because of the events that happened eight years ago.

Spin it.

The whole band should be arrested and ordered to pay royalties to Pantera.

Why is this all happening now when that idiot kid died in 2010? Why does this matter almost three years later?

That being said, it's security's fault he was on stage in the first place. Fans do not belong on stage ever, especially after Dimebag's murder.

Reading this and having read some things from fans who were in attendance, it definitely doesn't seem as if Randy intended for this guy to die. Manslaughter would be the accurate charge, here, as it was unintentional.

But like many commented, after the Dimebag incident, it's entirely understandable if a band my get a bit "jumpy" if someone jumps on stage. Especially if they weren't asked to come up. I've seen plenty of people get up on stage and just as quickly get shoved off, often by the bands crew. And 99.9% of the time, it's no big deal, as they usually end up on top of the crowd. This incident just happened to have a tragic ending.

And those who are like "Good, no more LoG" or things of that nature. If you don't like a band, there's this novel idea out there along the lines of "don't listen to them." Works wonders. There is plenty of music to go around for everyone. It's the wonder of choice.

What bullshit. I hate this band but I hope the charges are dropped. Stay off the godamn stage if you don't want to be rudely tossed back into the crowd.

What I would do in that situation...If I was the singer and this dude came onstage - do you keep your hands off him or push him away? You push him away and he gets hurt then it's your ass. But you do nothing and maybe the dude attacks you. Crappy situation, which is why you stay the hell off the stage unless invited.

And yeah the Dimebag death footage at the end of that news report was a surprise.

WHO'S THE COWARDLY LITTLE TURD NOW!!!!!!!!!! GONNA TALK SHIT ABOUT BLABBERMOUTH NOW ARE YA!!!!!!

...had to get that out of my system.

Now back to being serious: it sounds like he's getting fucked over pretty hard here. I may not like Lamb of God that much and Randy Blythe may be a world class douche bag, but he's a good singer with a unique and very recognizable voice. He also doesn't deserve this. I hope the music community chips in if he needs to fund a legal defense. I know I'll throw a few bucks his way if he has trouble funding a talented defense team. Best of luck Randy!

I'm just not sure why this never made the media? The band sure kept quiet about it. Surely someone would have come out and said a fan died after falling at a lamb of god concert? Or even a message from the band?

...this #freerandyblythe-thing is a bit too much, as if he was a political prisoner or charged with a crime that was obviously fabricated.

All we know at this point is that there was some kind of physical confrontation on stage, resulting in the kid getting into a coma and eventually dying as a result. Most countries in the world would take it to court if given the chance, and this is what's happening here. The same thing would have been the case if a European band member returned to the US.

Also, a lot of the gut response from people seem to be of the "kid shouldn't have gotten on stage" variety and drawing parallells to the Dimebag situation. In the more hardcore oriented European clubs, it's normal for fans to get on stage, mosh for a while and then stagedive out. Reportedly, there were lots of people on stage when DevilDriver and Hatebreed played the same night, probably giving the impression that it'd be perfectly OK to stage dive on LOB's set too. This is a very different context than if a random dude suddenly rushed to a stage in what could only be interpreted as an attack. We weren't there when it happened, so we can just speculate.

In most countries, one can get convicted for manslaughter even if acting in self defence. It's all about the particular situation.

I'm a LOG fan, and I really hope for the best possible outcome, but I can't help being a bit alarmed by the knee-jerk response from most people. It seems clear that there at least was a correlation between what happened on stage and the kid's death, so any civilized legal system would want to take a look at it.

Security should have been all over the clown the first time he did the kamikaze maneuver. As people have stated above, it's a brave new world and idiots reign supreme these days. But...

The victim's family would probably like some resolve and death falls into a complicated arena of politics and law. Hopefully, this will iron out in his favor because you don't want to be doing time in Czech Republic.

nobody noticed the reporter called him dimebag darrell paul?

anyways, sucks for randy. hope everything works out for him. sure, the dude died, but you honestly think randy intentionally pushed him so that he would die? i think not. manslaughter is a bogus charge for something he did with zero intent to kill.

But, you have to protect yourself on stage. Obviously look at dimebag.
Watch Keith Richards nailed a guy with a guitar. That fan could have been trying to attack him.

What if when Randy pushed him he landed hand and feet first and took an unintentional boot to the head and that's what killed him? Finding proof that Randy's shove is what killed him would seem to redefine needle in the hay stack.

It would have to be a case of security seeing him visably hurt immediately after the fall, escorting him to the hospital and then him dying. Never mind the self defense aspect of the whole thing and the fact that it was 2 yeras ago.

This is a waste of time.
