Former TESTAMENT/FORBIDDEN Guitarist Launches PANTERA Tribute Band - Aug. 9, 2012
Guitarist Glen Alvelais (FORBIDDEN, TESTAMENT, LD/50, HATEFX) has joined forces with vocalist Derek Thompson (WEAPON STATUS RED), bassist Kimo Sanborn (FALLING TO PIECES) and drummer Nick Benigno (FALLING TO PIECES) in a PANTERA tribute band called HELLBOUND.

Commented Glen: "I am absolutely having a blast playing some of my favorite PANTERA songs with these guys. I am a very huge Dimebag fan; he was and will always be one of my heroes! I had the opportunity to meet and hang out with him while on the 'Demonic' tour with TESTAMENT back in 1998 and ever since then I've been rocking the Dean ML guitars in his honor."

He added, "The plan is to get HELLBOUND out and touring on a national level. One of our first shows will be October 20th in Livermore, California at Pine St. A nice little place where we can have friends and family come hang out and party with us."

Not bad players but that singer is just screaming incoherently. The difference between Phil and random death/black screamers is that he could modulate his voice and you could understand the lyrics too!

I didn't listen to Pantera in a long long time and probably won't again with all this drama and cover bands, Pantera is best kept where it belongs; in the past.

I think tribute bands suck! They never play the stuff like the real bands. Guitarists almost always butcher the solos and the drummers.... Don't even get me started! I always give tribute bands the benefit of the doubt and always walk away feeling disappointed

Agreed... lots of them care more about how they look than how they play.

For the money. Because being a guy who used to be in Testament and Forbidden won't pay the bills. However, having co-written the marvellous "Through Eyes of Glass", I'd like to hear some classic original old-school thrash out of the guy.

After seeing Glen numerous times with Testament hearing him nail Skolnicks solos to the T unlike the rest of the replacements im sure there is nothn to worry about!! Dimes solos will finally be played like they should, many have tried but i think everyone is in for a treat! Bring it on!!!

I was hoping this was a just-for-fun type thing but the whole "national level" mention seems to make it look more like an ongoing career move. Nothing against tribute acts or Pantera, and I realize how hard it is to make a living off music these days, but Glen Alvelais has taken part in some pretty respectable creative outings in his career, all in all this just seems kind of disappointing. Anyway, respect to the guy all the same.

Probably easier making a living playing covers for a lot of guys who can't make a cent with their originals.

Glen Alvelais never sticks to anything. Him and Paul Bostaph, are so alike in a fact that they never last anywhere. It's always on to the next thing. Have seen this guy starting so many things in the last 20 years. All in all, Demonic was Testament's weakest record, as it did not even sound like them.

You must be hard of hearing or just as hammered as Vinnie was that night! That guitarist was mediocre at best, and the vocals were horrible!! Watch and Learn fellas HellBound is on its way!!!!!!
