ALICE COOPER's 'The Rock' Teen Center To Have Its Grand Opening Tomorrow - Oct. 5, 2012
According to ArizonaRepublic.com, Alice Cooper's The Rock teen center, which inspired him to launch his annual Christmas Pudding concerts in 2001, will have its grand opening festivities on Saturday, October 6 in the Rock at 32nd Street, on the southeastern corner of Thunderbird Road and 32nd Street, in Phoenix, Arizona. The 22,000-square-foot The Rock teen center was built in partnership with Genesis Church and Cooper's Solid Rock Foundation and is meant to offer teens an outlet for their creativity and get them off the streets. It's expected to expand to 60,000 square feet by the time it's finished.

"Right now," Cooper tells ArizonaRepublic.com, "it's great. There's a dance studio. There are all these rooms filled with drums and guitars and basses from Fender. And then, there's a whole area where they can just play video games or ping pong."

Asked if the center, which started offering programs in May, is what he envisioned, Cooper says, "It really is. It's amazing. There are 100 kids in here every night. They come in after school and do their homework here. They cannot wait to get down here and learn more guitar or more drums or more bass."

More music = fewer gangs.
Fewer gangs = fewer problems.

Alice is THE MAN for making this happen!

Unless the bands suck, in which case gangs would've been preferable.

I guess I turned out okay being 29 coming from your typical dysfunctional family. You know the kind the parents that shouldve been divorced but didn't. I would've LOVED to have something like this in my area when I was first picking up guitar. Alice's music isnt' really my cup of tea but he is one of the few artists that I hold the utmost respect for. Alice Cooper is an upstanding class act in my book.

...with Genesis church. Be careful, or the guitars won't be the only "instruments" getting played.
Too bad, Alice is a lot smarter than that. Im sure he will do his best, but Im just as sure that when you involve religion it all will turn to shit.
