W.A.S.P.'s '30 Years Of Thunder' Tour Hits Sweden; Video Available - Oct. 9, 2012
Fan-filmed video footage of W.A.S.P.'s October 6 concert at Sparbankshallen in Varberg, Sweden can be seen below.

30 years ago— on September 21, 1982 — W.A.S.P. played its first show at the Troubadour in Los Angeles. On September 21, 2012, W.A.S.P. embarked on the "30 Years Of Thunder" anniversary tour starting in the United Kingdom and continuing worldwide. This world tour is the biggest spectacle W.A.S.P. has ever created. The two-hour show consists of three parts: a one-hour set containing songs from the first four albums; a 25-minute shortened version of "The Crimson Idol" complete with the movie accompaniment; and a set of material from the new W.A.S.P. studio album, older material and everything in between. This performance includes multiple video screens, pyrotechnics, and elements from the early W.A.S.P. shows and Blackie Lawless' moving microphone stand "Elvis."

W.A.S.P.'s latest album, "Babylon", was released in Europe on October 12, 2009 through Global Music (via Demolition Records) and was made available in the U.S. on November 17, 2009.

I already know those songs. They are old as fuck.

WASP doesn't really fit in with other bands that survived the 80's. They don't really get help from radio or MTV for the past 20 years, but they're still around. Europe is a bigger market, but the band still plays decent size venues in the US as well. Not bad...

They still kick ass but I would love to see the original line-up together just one more time.

Surprised how good they still sound. Just get Chris to come back and it would be complete.

I love wasp since 1984 and have seen two shows so far (Linkoping and Uppsala). This is my reflections:

"The two-hour show": Linkoping was 80min and Uppsala 70min.

"Multiple video screens": Three in Linkoping but only one in Uppsala.

"Pyrotechnics": No pyrotechnics.

"Blackie Lawless' moving microphone stand "Elvis.": Neither in Linkoping or Uppsala.

All in all, the shows were good fun but not at all "a big spectacle".

Blackie still can belt it out. Awesome!
This was one of my favorite bands when I was a kid and I still love them. Always will.

From what I've heard of people who went to the UK shows this 'biggest spectacle / 2 hour' thing was a load of horse shit. They only played for just over an hour at Bristol, standard greatest hits set with no spectacle of any note. This seemed to be the case all over the country.

'30 Years of Thunder'...

Otherwise known as the sound Blackie's bloated, fat ass makes with each hoof-step as he waddles onstage.

Hardee Har dude. Dammit, I like you Aces but you're awfully concerned with the appearence of another man aren't you? How's your waisteline look these days, Adonis? Better yet how's it going to look when you're in your 50's? Gut or not, Lawless is a legend. You're not and likely never will be.

...Blackie is playing/singing to a backing track... This is just a shame, for a band of this caliber, with so much experience along the road.
Plus, it seems that Blackie got the Vince Neil syndrome, to let the crowd sing the parts more than himself.
Anyway, still a great studio band, but clearly lost the power alive.

The bassist and guitarist are singing backups out of the camera frame, dummy... and nothing's wrong with audience participation on choruses as long as when he sings the verses, he delivers...which he does. Nice try, homey.

I saw a bootleg from one of the shows on Dimeadozen, and the taper described the show as a huge letdown, don't believe any of the hype. They played barely an 80 minute set, as always. Most of the songs were incomplete and part of medleys, and backing tracks galore.

Fuck ya'll, I've seen W.A.S.P. close to 10 times and they've never disappointed. Didn't know you had to have6 pack abs to be considered good. OMG, Blackie plays his greatest hits during his concert, oh the horror of it all. Morons.....

wasn't there issues on the motorhead tour where lemmy talked about Blackie using backing tapes to hide or boost his live vocals?

It's a shame, because the last album Babylon is a masterpiece. The best WASP album in 20 plus years.

Blackie could of been relevant for a brief moment somewhere around 1985 (Wild Child), but sadly in 2012 is merely a tribute act unto himself.

Great Artist Blackie. Too bad he comes off as such a prick in interviews and cancels so many shows. My favorites are Idol, KFD, Headless, Dying for the World..... Keep 'em coming Blackie, Good Work!
