RITCHIE BLACKMORE Talks BLACKMORE'S NIGHT, RONNIE JAMES DIO In New Audio Interview - Oct. 27, 2012
Earlier today (Saturday, October 27), former DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW guitarist Ritchie Blackmore and his wife, Candice Night, spoke to 103.9 WRCN-FM, Long Island's classic rock radio station, about Ritchie's distinguished career and their medieval/renaissance group, BLACKMORE'S NIGHT. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

Blackmore and Candice welcomed their second child, Rory Dartanyan, on February 7. The couple have a two-year old daughter, Autumn Esmerelda.

Ritchie, 67, and Candice, 41, were married on October 5, 2008 at a small gathering of friends and family at Castle on the Hudson in Tarrytown, New York.

The third BLACKMORE'S NIGHT DVD release, "A Knight In York", was made available on DVD, Blu-ray, CD and 3-LP set (limited edtion) in July.

"A Knight In York" was filmed and recorded during BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's British tour at York Opera House on September 30, 2011.

BLACKMORE'S NIGHT's latest album, "Autumn Sky", came out in 2010.

I can't believe the guy who brought us "Smoke On The Water," "Highway Star," and even later gems like "Knockin' at your Back Door" is now prancing around in Ren Fair gear and yes, Adveser, a Medieval Fanny-Pack, and naming his children after Musketeers....REALLY????

Please, Ritchie, we beg you...it's time to end this Minstrel Cycle.

See what I did there? Yeh, that's right...Minstrel Cycle...;-)

Meh, what's wrong with the guy doing what makes him happy? A person's tates change as they get older. Are you still sporting the same hair style as you wore in the 80s?

And don't forget, Ritchie is 67 yeard old now. If he did decide that he still wanted to do blistering fast metal people would whine that he wasn't as fast as he was when he was in his 20s.

I should do so well in life. I really didn't think Ritchie would make it through all those years of drinking, but he's living his dream now and they are both apparently happy doing what they do. Now where are my tights and my 28 year old maiden???!

I agree... he's doing what makes him happy. That's a way to a long life. Look at the guy... He's 67 and his wife is 41! He just had a baby. He's playing the music that he loves and apparently there are enough fans who enjoy it as well. I've bought a few of his CDs and one of the DVD's. I like it, but I don't love it. I can't listen to it all the time. What I love, though, is that Ritchie Blackmore is still playing music and he's passionate about it.

Just when I thought this guy couldn't be any douch-ier, he dresses like an extra from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. He used to be a great player, but a massive asshole. I've heard multiple interviews where either Richie, or people who know Richie, admit he's a dickhead and he hates people, or more specifically his fans. That's why I have zero respect for the little fairy. He's never had issues with taking his fans money, he's never found a vocation where he wouldn't be surrounded by people (although that could be why he's playing the music he's playing now, no problem with too many fans at one of those shows). So to Richie...I blow my nose at you! I fart in your general direction!!!

A 67 year old having a child is just selfish....he'll by 80 when the kid becomes a teenager....people will think he's the kids grandfather (if he's still alive)!

Ritchie "doesn't like to fly domestically" so the (U.S.) tour is four dates, all within driving distance.

I put on this interview in the background. Some good stuff, though I'm surprised at how often Candice simply gives Ritchie's answers for him rather than him telling them directly.

The guy is musically gifted and I do appreciate his contributions to hard rock via Rainbow and Purple. At this point in his life, I believe medieval fair music is all we will hear from him. That's life. Glad he is apparently happy.

Love this guy (Blackmore), I could listen to him for days. I liked the interview, maybe Mrs. Night gets into a place where she isn't called for here and there but glad to hear the legend speaking and happy doing whatever he wants.

Blackmore doesn't like Roger Glover due to the fact that Glover changed his guitar parts around when Blackmore wasn't around. I heard Sting used to do that to Copeland in the Police.

I could've guessed he's not a Facebook user, but am surprised Ritchie doesn't carry a cell phone.

Cool of Ritchie to mention bands that have opened for DN towards the end of the interview, but I couldn't understand what he said.

Explaining how he left the hard rock world:
"I hit my head on stage and thought I must play medieval music for the rest of my life."

Can't believe bassist Greg Smith and vocalist, Doogie White would sabotage Rainbow this way...

"If you don't pay us double the money, we're not continuing the tour."

Candice spontaneously spilled out information that Ritchie was obviously not prepared to divulge. He didn't even care. He's in love. That's what his music is based on anyhow. Its all about his love for freedom of expression and the beautiful Candice.

I think that any "true fan" of Ritchie's would just be happy for him. He's a rock legend. He's given us so much music and inspiration and now he's focused on what HE wants. He's a tremendous talent with a fantastic legacy. I'd give both balls to be the founding guitarist of Purple AND Rainbow, one of the most influential rock players ever, a recent father of two (I know, they're are others), and married to a gorgeous woman named Candy with no worries of money or anything.....Ritchie, if you read this, you are a lucky man and I completely support you. Also, thank you for being a really approachable person. Met you at a Rainbow show years ago. I also met Gillan once and I can say that I know why you left Purple. Cheers and have a fucking great life Ritchie!!!!!!!!

I didn't realize Blackmore was 67, he's happy dressing up like Sir Lancelot and banging that hot wife, who can blame him. Yeah he's weird as hell, but rock and roll is a strange lifestyle that can cause you to go to extremes to get away from it. She's his spokesperson, I think it's entertaining how Blackmore continues with is middle finger towards the rock world. Bizarre as hell, but Blackmore still can play when he wants to, he a very good acoustic guitarist, even if he's playing minstrel scales.

Blackmore is too good to not play hard rock/metal. How can he avoid the style of music he put on the map? Every guitar player owes him a great debt especially Janick Gers of Iron Maiden..who copies Blackmore's style more than anybody, except maybe for Yngwie who's entire career is a "blackmore on speed" apporach. Thats last album from "rainbow stranger to us all" was awesome.

Well, he's happy doing what he's doing now. All the best to him he can sing it to the fairies for all I care. I don't think there's even a little chance of him going back to rock, and sadly for us rock fans, there's nothing we can do about it.
