MITCH LUCKER's Wife: I Begged Him Not To Leave The House (Video) - Nov. 2, 2012
Mitch Lucker's wife says that she begged the SUICIDE SILENCE frontman not to leave the house before he got on his motorcycle and lost his life in a Southern California road accident.

Lucker was riding his black 2013 Harley-Davidson south on Main Street in Huntington Beach about 8:55 p.m. Wednesday when he hit a light pole near the intersection of 13th Street. The motorcycle continued sliding south on Main Street and struck a northbound 2007 Nissan Titan pickup.

Lucker was seriously injured and was treated at the scene by paramedics. He died shortly after 6 a.m. on Thursday at UC Irvine Medical Center.

"He was an alcoholic, and it's a been a big battle," Jolie Carmadella said at last night's candlelight vigil at the crash site, which was attended by 300-400 fans, friends and family members (see video below). "I tried to stop him. I was in front of him begging him not to leave the house. Begging him. 'Just seriously, for us, don't leave.' And he did. And this is what happened.

"It's a wake-up call."

She continued, "He was an amazing man. He was a wonderful father and a great husband. And now he's gonna miss out on watching [his five-year-old daughter] Kenadee grow, because he decided to drink and ride.

"Just don't. Just think before you guys do something stupid. Please learn from this. Please."

The surviving members of SUICIDE SILENCE posted a statement on their Facebook page Thursday morning reading, "There's no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts."

SUICIDE SILENCE has released three albums — 2007's "The Cleansing", 2009's "No Time to Bleed" and last year's "The Black Crown".

Bad choices. It's a shame that his wife and daughter will have to live their lives alone because of his selfishness while drunk. Alcoholism is a disease. Being a dick is a choice.

As an ex-drunk it's hard to have much sympathy for this. I drove drunk all the time and got in two accidents and put some people in the hospital. I can tell you that even in the middle of active addiction I KNEW FULL WELL that drinking and driving was dangerous. Bad choice, pal.

It's a terrible lose for the family, friends and fans, but at this point, is there anyone who's not aware of the potential consequences from drinking and driving?

I agree with ZvartZaft's post - good thing he only killed himself then.

Can someone please explain to me why alcohol is legal and weed is illegal? It should be the other way around. If dude would have gotten stoned, he probably would have just chilled out at home.

Shouldn't be the other way around. But they should just not make any of it illegal. Probibition, regardless of the substance, does not work. History has proven that. people will drink alcohol if they want it. People will smoke weed if they want it. People will do harder drugs if they want it. No laws. Stop filling up the prison system. If someone is gonna abuse something, let them work themselves out and make their own choices.

More than likely it's just because you can get a contact buzz from being around people smoking weed, but you can't get contact drunk. I would guess that that's the reasoning... but who knows. It's an interesting argument, for sure.

and as for the damaged nissan, all the guy has to do is make an claim and let the insurance companies deal with it.

Not by me inparticular, but mitch is going to be missed by alot of people. my condolences go out to his family and loved ones.

Considering that the story on Yahoo! news said there were nearby trick-or-treaters, it's a miracle he didn't kill any children as well as himself. It's a damn shame things had to happen this way, but I find myself feeling a lot more sorry for his family and bandmates than I do for him.

If I saw someone drunk trying to ride or drive I'd fucking call the cops on them right then & there without hesitation, regardless of who they were, a friend, brother, sister, mother, father or even my wife. It sucks that those who cared about him now have to deal with the fallout but I have zero sympathy for any selfish cunt who drives drunk & wraps themselves around a pole. They need to start banning these fucking losers from driving for life, get caught driving drunk once then lose your license for a year, if you get caught a second time then you get banned for fucking life, get caught a third time you go to fucking prison. Maybe if there were some real consequences then these fuckstain drunk drivers might think twice before endangering the rest of us along with themselves.

These comments about his wife/girlfriend not being grief stricken; I'd say she feels angry more than anything at the moment. She told him not to go out on his bike and he ignored her. The grief will hit in a day or two when his death finally sinks in.

I remember Courtney Love being angry at Kurt Cobain at the vigil following his death. A needless death will always make the surviving partner angry before any of the other emotions hit.

The truth comes out. Of course, this was completely his fault; but she shouldn't of followed him (knowing he was drunk and going to rip away) with her daughter in the car as well. Call the police or forcefully take his keys...I don't thinking hauling ass after him was a brilliant idea.
With that being said, even though it was his fault; he paid the ultimate price with his life, and I won't provide any opinions of my disdain for their music and his life choices. Anyone who can watch this video and not feel sympathy for his mother, who clearly isn't handling it well; or his little daughter; is just completely coldblooded and heartless.
We ALL have made bad choices at some point; whether it be driving drunk, speeding, not wearing a seatbelt/helmet, or even reaching in the backseat of the car for something; we've all made them. It's a heartache when one dumb decision costs someone their freedom of life, and loved ones to deal with a tragic loss.
I own a supercharged GTP that I've been sinking money into for 5 years, trying to get every ounce of power I possibly can. I know the feeling of that adrenaline rush with over 500 horses at your command...it's just phenomenal. As I got older, I began to really understand how important it is to channel that desire, and keep it on the track; away from innocent bystanders coming home from work, or going to the grocery store. I also know how much alcohol intensifies that urge to tear it up. However, growing up means making the right decisions. No matter how much it seems "cool" or how awesome the rush may be; you need to start making decisions that's better for your entire family. Drinking, ok; fine. I understand the disease of addiction, and how people cope with things a different way. But everyone knows the dangers of drinking and driving, and most of the time it's the innocent who take the worst beating from it. Luckily, his life was the only one that was taken; and I don't mean that ignorantly at all...of course, it would have been better for this not to have happened at all; but it could have been much worse if his daughter would have been on the back, or the motorcycle would have killed someone else before sliding to a stop into that truck. One more tragic story to be heard as an example of why not to drink and drive. I hate hearing about this, when it was 100% avoidable. And this is coming from someone who couldn't stand their music. Just because we didn't like the music, doesn't mean we need to hate on the people who created it. Music is like acting, once they're off the stage, they can be totally different individuals; and by the stories given, he seemed like he was one hell of a nice guy. Shame he's going to be remembered forever for his bad choices. Deepest condolences to his family, friends, and fans who lost someone important in their lives. Hopefully, a few more people in the world learn from this tragic mistake.
And to the alcohol vs weed comments, I agree with the majority. If something as mind-numbing as alcohol can be legal to purchase for ANYONE over the age of 21, then you might as well legalize marijuana too. Pot doesn't do much to affect your ability to drive, but that doesn't make it right to drive around and smoke 4 blunts either. Reactions do slow down. Why not just use the recreational comfort aids safely and stay put? Or walk? Or call someone to pick ya up? Yeah, it could be a pain in the ass, but if that's what you're choosing to do, do it responsible so your family isn't dealing with the result of that once selfish action. : /
