SOUNDGARDEN: Entire New Album Available For Streaming - Nov. 6, 2012
"King Animal", the first collection of all-new material in 16 years, and first since the group reunited in 2010, from reunited grunge legends SOUNDGARDEN, is available for streaming in its entirety on iTunes. The CD will be released on November 13 via Tom Whalley's new record label, a partnership between his Seven Four Entertainment and Republic Records.

Deluxe versions of "King Animal" include a box set, a deluxe CD, iTunes deluxe and 180-gram double vinyl. Many of the deluxe editions include album track demos recorded in singer Chris Cornell's home studio.

For details of the "King Animal" deluxe versions, visit SoundgardenWorld.com.

"King Animal" track listing:

01. Been Away Too Long
02. Non-State Actor
03. By Crooked Steps
04. A Thousand Days Before
05. Blood On The Valley Floor
06. Bones Of Birds
07. Taree
08. Attrition
09. Black Saturday
10. Halfway There
11. Worse Dreams
12. Eyelid's Mouth
13. Rowing

Drummer Matt Cameron told The Pulse Of Radio two things that he thinks made SOUNDGARDEN special then and now: "In our scene up here in the Northwest in the '80s and '90s, we were sometimes considered to be the RUSH of Seattle, just because we could sort of play our instruments maybe better than most bands. [laughs] We never really tried to flaunt any musical chops, but we always had pretty diverse tastes. We had a lot of really cool influences amongst ourselves that we tried to infuse in the music."

The first single from the disc is called "Been Away Too Long".

Cornell told OnstageWeb that the track is literally about the band's reunion, explaining, "It means that a group, in this case personified by SOUNDGARDEN, has been away and the length of that away time has suddenly become maybe overextended. So been away too long, like thank God we're back now. It seems like it might have been a little bit too long for us to be gone."

The vocalist added that he was surprised that SOUNDGARDEN seems poised to once again fill a void for "real" rock music, saying, "I always expected that after we broke up or even maybe before we broke up that there should be or would be some very vital scene, numerous interesting rock bands that are kind of taking the history of rock music and making it their own."

Its streaming on NME as well:
http://www.nme.com/blog/index.php?blog=1&title=soundgarden_king_animal_album_stream

Ofcourse there are some great moments, but its the weakest SG release.
Halfway There is a disgrace to the whole SG legacy, in my opinion.

I was not expecting the album to be THIS good!

This is pure Soundgarden, reminds me of Superunkown era. Crazy Thayil solos and Chris Cornell actually sounds like himself on this one. Blood On The Valley Floor, Bones Of Birds and A Thousand Days are instant classics.

Unnecessary. Overproduced. Straight forward and boring.

Down On The Upside was diverse and psychadelic, this is a collection of rock songs with no heavy riffs, no dark atmosphere, no psychadelic moments, nothing.

It's good to hear Thayil and Cameron again doing what they do best, but other than that is boring to me.

Like others they ruined the perfect legacy they left in 1997.

Sorry.

Down On The Upside is Soundgarden's No Prayer For The Dying. It was boring and second rate.

Badmotorfinger is what classic SG is, and it was straightforward. Just like this new album.

Than I was expecting. I didn't really dig the first few songs that much but the later songs on the album are fantastic. Its like they never left. This is what the album would have sounded like right after Down on the Upside if they would have put it out in 98'

I don't know if people are listening to the same album as me, but if you think this is a masterpiece or epic you better take a new listen to superunknown, down on the upside or badmotorfinger

This sounds exactly like what I figured it would. Older guys just more or less jamming. The young energy and power of soundgarden is for history on disc in the early 90's.

This of course the result of Chris Cornels miserable solo attempts ( the worst bunch of self righteous crapola) the break will occur again when they realize it's never gonna be like it was and they will disappear again

Like Chris Cornell said, He finds it weird people tell him that which ever Soundgarden album isn't what they were expecting! His answer was brilliant, "How do you know what it is going to sound like? I don't even know until we record it!"
My 2nd listen thru I am liking it much more than my first. 1st listen was on headphones at work, 2nd listen is at home with the volume turned up to 11!! 3rd listen will be in "HIGH" definition! Growing on me each time!

I got "Down On The Upside" a couple months (few years late) and thought that was a drawn out and boring. No energy, just predictable, melodic dribble.

"Badmotorfinger" is my favorite. Insane lyrics, progressive melodies, and Cornell's voice was exorcising demons.

This is what I look for in Soundgarden and I think I got some of it in this new record. This is closer to what the band is about.

Sounds like Soundgarden! who would have thought! You can come up with criticisms but they aren't really valid when trying to pin anything on such a shape shifting band. Also it is something to be digested. The fact that there are those who say it sucks and those who say it is a masterpiece shows that they are right on track. It certainly has a lot of peaks and valleys and places to explore which all I can ask from a band like Soundgarden...it like sounds like a garden of different sounds dude.
