According to
The Pulse Of Radio,
Courtney Love has shot down rumors that a
NIRVANA musical is in the works. Reports surfaced recently that on-again, off-again
Britney Spears manager
Sam Lufti claimed that he was working with
Love on a Broadway show, which would focus on the life of her husband, late
NIRVANA frontman
Kurt Cobain, as well as their marriage and the band's career. But
Love told England's
Guardian, "There will be no musical. Sometimes it's best just to leave things alone."
Although
Love has been interested in making films about both her life and her husband's, she says she's been cautious about allowing
Cobain's songs to be used in other projects.
She explained, "I said yes once — to (director)
Baz Luhrmann to use eight seconds of
'Smells Like Teen Spirit' in
'Moulin Rouge'. But he wasn't allowed to use it in the marketing."
Love did sell half the rights to
Cobain's publishing several years ago for tens of millions of dollars, but said now, "I got so bullied into selling what I sold. I regret it so much. I'm never selling the rest of it."
Love added that she still controls the
Cobain estate despite rumors that she turned it over to her estranged daughter,
Frances Bean Cobain.
