DEF LEPPARD Members Remember JIMI HENDRIX (Video) - Nov. 9, 2012
DEF LEPPARD's Joe Elliott (vocals) and Phil Collen (guitar) recently spoke to CBS Local about Jimi Hendrix, the man who changed electric guitar and rock and roll forever.

To mark what would have been Hendrix's 70th birthday, CBS Local is remembering the legendary musician's life and career throughout November.

In the interview, which can be seen below, Collen called Hendrix "the ultimate rock guitar player, the most amazing guitar player of all time." Elliott, meanwhile, marveled at Hendrix's abilities not only through the amp, but also on the mic.

Elliott and Collen covered Hendrix's "Manic Depression" on the 2001 EP from their side project CYBERANUTS. Collen has also recorded and performed Hendrix's "Fire" with his other band, MANRAZE.

Life is contradictory, there are so many bands you wonder, "why they didnt carry on?" , in other hand there are other bands that you wonder, "why are they still around?" , Def Leppard falls in the second question

Hendrix was fucking amazing, those 3 albums are just an amazing listen. Not to mention all the other material released after, like the newer album Valley of Neptune. Def Leppard is a good band, but their material is getting a little tired. I mean they basically haven't done any great original material since Euphoria.

It still goes all the way back to Hendrix. Basically electric blues, but brilliantly done. His lyrics and vocals are often not mentioned. He was the entire package. Great musician, singer/songwriter. His clean rhythm playing was so spacious. My favorite solo is in Wind Cries Mary. Those first 3 records & the live Band of Gypsies record released in '70 are pure magic.
The posthumously released music by Alan Douglas in the 70's are sad and sub par.
