Broadway Veteran RENA STROBER Brings A New Touch To OZZY OSBOURNE's 'Crazy Train' - Nov. 9, 2012
Broadway veteran Rena Strober has released the official video for her very unique cover version of OZZY OSBOURNE's classic 1980 song "Crazy Train", featuring electric cello by critically acclaimed cellist Tina Guo. Parts of the clip, which can be seen below, were filmed this past September on the New York City subway, an experience that Rena says "was absolutely crazy wonderful!" Extra footage shot by Complete Actors Place in Sherman Oaks, California.

Strober previously performed her rendition of "Crazy Train" at Alexandra Theodora Spurlock's variety show at M Bar in Hollywood, California. In his review of the performance, Elliot Zwiebach of Cabaret Scenes wrote that Strober was "very solid in a surprisingly tender version of 'Crazy Train', which turned into a nice ballad in pianist Tim Butterworth’s de-metalized arrangement."

Strober made her Broadway more than a decade ago in "Les Misérables" and went on to perform leading roles at Playwrights Horizons, Goodspeed Opera House and the Long Wharf Theatre. Strober also originated the role of Tonya in "Zhivago" at the LaJolla Playhouse directed by Des McNuff ("Jersey Boys") for which she won the Craig Noel Award for "Best Featured Actress In A Musical." She has sung at Lincoln Center, Town Hall and Westbury Music Fair, and has performed for such luminaries as Bill Clinton, Regis Philbin, Don Rickles, Nikki The Vest and Johnny Roastbeef. Rena also released her debut album, entitled "Finding Home", in 2008.

Bit weird... I remember when this music was considered evil and satanic. Now it is everywhere in every form.

cool cover twist but the autotune in the singing ruins it, but the cello solo at the end save´s it.

Music and lyrics by Ozzy Osbourne? What about a dude named Randy Rhoads that really wrote the music and a dude named Bob Daisley who really wtrote the lyrics??

And imo, this sucks. I'm sick of every band I grew up on being covered by the American Idol generation 'cuz they can't come up with a single original thing on they're own.

Sad, isn't it? The writers of the music and lyrics could not financially defend themselves from Sharon Osbourne, and have now lost their own writing credits.
