MIKE PATTON On FAITH NO MORE's Future: 'Right Now, We Have No Plans Whatsoever' - Nov. 10, 2012
During a brand new interview with IHeartGuitarBlog.com, FAITH NO MORE singer Mike Patton was asked is there are any plans to release any live material from the band's reunion tours. "Right now, we have no plans whatsoever — live, recording or anything," he said. "We've done what we set out to do with the reunion, and it's all great, but it's just, 'Let's see what happens next.' And I think you need to take a pause to actually reflect on something like that, because otherwise we could just keep playing, and we're very conscious of overdoing it, y'know, milking material that's so old. You can only do that for so long, and I feel that we've done pretty well. The whole band's naturally came to this conclusion, so now we're just sitting tight."

According to Patton, one of the reasons the FAITH NO MORE reunion didn't happen sooner is the fact that they wanted to avoid making it feel like a nostalgia thing — like "Here's FAITH NO MORE again." "We wanted it to feel fresh and still somehow vital," he said. "It wasn't an money grab. It's funny to say, but we all kind of reconnected, and after quite a long time we all kinda looked at each other and were like, 'Man, we actually spent half of our lives together.' It's interesting to see it through that set of glasses as opposed to the ones you wore back then. I suppose, at least personally speaking, I've grown up a lot since then, and I think I approach the music differently, and I felt better about the music than I did then."

FAITH NO MORE made a comeback in June 2009 with a headlining performance at the Brixton Academy in London, England and has played sporadic shows for the past three years.

FAITH NO MORE's last LP, "Album Of The Year", came out in 1997.

Yeah, it's about fuckin' time they make something new. They should at least record either an EP or an album, it's been 15 years since the last time they released anything new.

I agree except I'm really not at all interested in a live album of 20 year old music. New material or nothing.

I've got an idea: write/record a new album and show all these terrible "new artists" what's up!

I would love to see them do another album. No other Patton project was good as FNM imo.

Had Angel Dust on the other day, Caffeine is such a good tune

FNM is one of my all time favorite band, but i don't see the need for a new album. why risk ruining the legacy?

however, i still have not been able to see them live on this reunion. a few more US shows would be nice. being in MN, i don't know if that would be worth it to them. but how about Chicago? i'd gladly make the trip.

I don't know, I guess they are the kind of band that if they go for it, considering the caliber of their components, there will be very little space for releasing something able to ruin their legacy. Patton and Bordin have been active all this time, and the rest too in an smaller extent but still, so, IMO, if they feel like working together again the result might be interesting to say the least.

last album was nothing special.

Unless they feel they can make a huge comeback, they shouldn't bother.

With the music industry as it is today, I'm startking to doubt there is any such thing as a huge comeback anymore, sadly.

The ability to refrain from overdoing things is a virtue other bands miss. Maybe it's for the best.

The only ones who can care about not over doing it are the ones that didn't piss all of their money away originally. In other words, not many.

I had no idea that Jim Martin had been in Black Sabbath. That explains a few things then, lol. Im sure it was a Freudian slip, lol. That aside, i don't understand how they can just don a bunch of European shows and do barely any North American shows. After all, we supported them all those years buying thier cd's and tapes and albums when internet downloading wasn't rampant. Don't we deserve the chance to see the band live again? Cash cow or not there are still fans hat love the music and listening to the music on cd or whichever media you prefer doesn't compare to seeing a band live.

Unfortunately much of the USA won't support metal shows anymore and artists need to go overseas to make any touring money. The USA is all about pop shit, country and boy bands now.

It seems like all of the metal heads of old unfortunately grew up and became soccer moms and dads.

I would pay a fortune to see fnm live in Canada. Pipe dream now.

I think they should do a new album soon, before they lose the vibe from those live shows. One of the best bands of the last 20 years needs something new and exciting. Fnm blows away Patton projects. Time to focus on the real thing. I'm sure they could outdo album of the year, which was average.

I'm feeling some new jams coming on
How long have they been touring again for?
No band plays together for an extended period of time without jamming and fucking about..
The way he talks about not wanting to milk old material..
What are they sitting tight on?
Get him back in the studio for a guest appearance
Those were the golden FNM days

How about a live album, that's all cover songs, but it's not really 100% live, because the vocals and guitars get tweaked in the studio?

Or even better, tweaked using Pro Tools..? In the back seat of a taxi!

Huh? Huh? I'm on to a fucking winner hey? Yeppers...

But who could they cover? Nickelback? Soundgarden? That dreadful band that Courtney Love fronted? (not FNM you dopes)

Feel the vibe.

Played with Mr Bungle and did some seriously strange BADASS shit! King for a day is my fav, but Angel Dust and The Real Thing also. Love the stuff with Jim but Trey fit the mold better. "The Gentle Art Of Making Enemies" is awesome. New album absolutely as there are no expectations or pressure on them because you never know what the next one will sound like! They barely toured here. Am in Detroit and would travel to see a show. Tomahawk has something new so I will check that out, like them also.

How can not one of the baddest bands ever keep touring, but not make new music? Patton has done a hunder albums since then. It's not like he can't come up with anything.

Please make new FNM!! PLEASE!!!
