SOUNDGARDEN: Footage Of Intimate New York City Show - Nov. 15, 2012
According to The Pulse Of Radio, SOUNDGARDEN blasted through 23 songs in front of 1,000 people at New York City's Irving Plaza nightclub on Tuesday night (November 13), in the first of three such shows to celebrate the arrival of the band's first album in 16 years, "King Animal". The show included a healthy amount of new material, eight songs in all, and drummer Matt Cameron told The Pulse Of Radio that the band wants to showcase the tracks from the new album as much as possible. "I think the more we play that, the better it's sounding, so every opportunity we get now to do that, we're certainly trying to do more and more."

The band's next two "intimate shows" will take place on Friday (November 16) in Toronto and November 27 in Los Angeles, with the group launching a full North American trek in January.

In addition to the eight new songs aired, the Irving Plaza show catered to hardcore SOUNDGARDEN fans with more obscure older tracks like "Incessant Mace" and "Gun" replacing radio hits such as "Black Hole Sun", which was not performed.

"King Animal" is SOUNDGARDEN's first all-new album since 1996's "Down On The Upside" and is projected by Hits Daily Double to sell between 70,000 and 75,000 copies in its first week out. The band reunited in 2010 and has done one tour since, in addition to releasing a hits compilation and a live album.

Kim's guitar sounds thick as fuck on 'Outshined'.

Though I'm pretty sure the recent show they did in London was the official 'launch' of King Animal. Chris pretty much says so on stage in one of the clips from that posted on youtube.

In any case, it's awesome that the new album is finally here. Fantastic, timeless band.

Love Soundgarden but this new cd is lacking the darkness of alll their other releases. Maybe it was the era that brought that out in their music. I've listened to this cd several times and not one song really stands out. There are elements of their old sound but they really can't hold up to anything they did before. I would welcome hearing the old stuff in concert.

Started with a heavy, slow tune named "Incessant Mace" instead of blasting the place down with a 'hit'. The whole set was well-balanced, from slow to fast paced, old and new. Hot spots included: Slaves and Bulldozers, Outshined, Blow Up The Outside World.

Cornell's voice was booming throughout. Seems like he's well rested and has no problems. Minor mistakes remembering certain parts, but it was cool. The band was on point.

Sweaty, stinky, pot-smoke filled, NYC. Next to fat guys who insist on dancing and bumping into me and lil' girls who were pissed they couldn't see over everyone. Don't know why the smell of pure shit kept creeping in and out. No way one person could produce that stench!! The band had me forget that my parked car might get a ticket since the inspection sticker is expired!

I'll see them next time as well..

Soundgarden album is great for several reasons

including the fact that they aren't trying to be 20 years younger than they are...they were always an honest band....the album still has the element that has made them Soundgarden....yet the material has progressed....as always

Especially the trippy ending where the girl drops the camera and tries to pick it up

Oh god everything comes in cycles like every 20 years so now it's probably time for all those horrible early 90's anti-metal bands will be coming back together. Remember "grunge". The media gave it a new name but there was nothing new under the sun. God we already had to suffer through this crap once before.
