KISS: 'Jornal Da Globo' TV Report On Porto Alegre Concert - Nov. 15, 2012
A two-and-a-half-minute "Jornal da Globo" TV report on KISS' November 14 concert in Porto Alegre, Brazil can be seen below.

"Monster", the 20th studio album from KISS, sold 56,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 3 on The Billboard 200 chart.

KISS' previous CD, "Sonic Boom", opened with 108,000 units back in October 2009 to enter the chart at No. 2. This marked the band's highest-charting LP ever.

KISS has notched nine Top 10 albums, according to Billboard.com. Its previous highest-charting set was 1998's "Psycho Circus", which debuted and peaked at No. 3 with 110,000 copies in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan. The group's other high-charting sets include 1975's "Alive!" (No. 9), 1977's "Love Gun" (No. 4) and 1992's "Revenge" (No. 6).

I'd say David Bowie, N.Y. Dolls, Alice Cooper and others had a lot more influence on the Glam scene than Kiss.

Most bands interviewed who mention Kiss as influence tend to lean more toward the heavy metal side of music including Darrell Abbot.

Kiss, specifically Ace, gave much more to the heavy side of music than to the glam side.

You people seem to forget, but Ace was the one that walked away, Kiss with make up is what people want to see. So why not, they shouldnt throw it all away just because was incapable of being the Space man. Tommy is doing a great job.

Tommy's a loser. He just looks sad. So does Eric. All for the money (I'd do the same if I was a struggling musican... but wouldn't make it right). The suck in the make-up and the act!! If you disagree, YOU SUCK. Now, if they had their own make-up or didn't have any at all (Carr, Vincent, St. John, Kulick, and Singer pre-make-up), I have all the respect in the world for those guys and those line-ups.

There are also a few on here that always will say how bad Kiss is and how bad they suck. They just came out with a good heavy rocking cd, The S Boom tour, The Tour, and the 35 alive tour all killed it with attendance - and the Monster tour will also do good. They might suck to you, but they dont to an average of 16,000 in every town they play at.

Just because people attend their concerts mean they don't suck?
How many people watch Jersey Shore?
How many watched Morey or Jerry Spring - because of the freak show?
These shows SUCK and so does Scab KISS.

some of the clips this tv station is using is from a show with the original four members and another of the current line-up. the majority of the hardcore fans can tell but the one's who can't tell the difference is what paulie and gene are banking on... literally!

God, but Thayer looks like a doof'us in Ace's get up. It's been almost 10 years and he still looks weird. Interesting how interspersed throughout the video there's footage from the Reunion and Farewell shows. Kiss just fucking sucks now, if for their attitudes towards the originals alone. You guys can continue drinking the koolaid all u want I will continue my campaign.

it isn't Spaceman never has been its Space Ace always has been always will be. Tommy and Eric are a disgrace, how much salary buys your self respect and integrity? How dare you sing their signature songs, wear their make-up and pretend you're a KISS legend.
It's clear that 75% of KISS fans have never seen them in their prime or even in the 80s sans make-up if they rate this abhoration. Genes a big fat armoured wiggy walrus with bananas sticking out of his costume, Paul's like an old uncle at a wedding dancing on the edge of the dance floor wishin he still had it and Tommy and Eric are like pale imitations of two legends.
Utter junk, too old, too slow, in the name of God go quietly into the night for us old school fans. Those mugs in the crowd these days aren't fans they played to 500,000 on the Tour and subsequently sold 56,000 CDs says it all...

It's fans like you that allow, nay encourage the besmirching of Ace and Peter. Most real fans have voted with their feet/cash so I guess all that's left is an army of kiddies and a few thousand mindless fools who'd suck up any old crap Gene spews. 56,000 to be exact, that's the problem 5 yr old can't afford 12 bucks got a new KISS record when there is new hello kitty stuff to buy. You got that yet blud??

MAN , I have been a die hard hardcore fan since 75 , I love the Gene Ace Paul and Peter era , by far my favorite . I happen to just like all era's some better than others of course . Loved Eric Carr , and yes it was tough seeing Tommy in Ace's make up the 1st time , but again it was his choice and Peter's to , threw them away like they didn't care , now I would have rather seen them do the Reunion tour and then go back to the non make up days , but Gene being Gene ( and I've known how he's been for years ) he saw the dollar signs of the big stage and exploding fire bombs and it does go better with the make up . I do see the marketing behind keeping it the same and 2 new personas wouldn't work , what Dogman or Giraff boy come on .

I can respect and do respect everybody's opinions and I do understand where you are coming from , but I'm just defending the band I grew up just about my whole life with and I have chosen to ride it out . And my personal opinion I like Monster a whole lot , but I've always have liked new Kiss music . I do appologize for my hater coments.

And I choose what I want to buy and what I don't , the hello kitty stuff , isn't for me , but it doesn't bother me that they do it . My best friends daughter is a big kiss fan and her mom has bought her some of it . The $4000 book , which I probably will never be able to afford , it also doesn't bother me . I did pick up a pez tin at walmart , just because it caught my eye and it was only $10.00 .

I'm glad you respect my opinion for not liking the new line-up, knowing $immon$ and $tanley are in it for the money, etc.
I respected all line-ups, except this one. Of course the album is going to be ok... and even a great rocker at times, until you think of the price you pay to like it... what it takes away from the legacy.

I don't respect your opinion jlowery. While well spoken, you are wrong and lost. Go ahead and support this line-up, but that doesn't make you a true Kiss fan - it make you a LOSER.

KISS 2012 are an embarrassment. A parody of the awesome rock n roll band that used to rule the world. AC/DC aren't playing cruise ships, peddling kiddies toys and churning out junk CDs. They are playing 3 nights at River Plate ( not one half full one ) they did sell 784,000 copies of their last cd in the first week ( not 56,000 ) and they are demonstrating how to grow old with grace and class. I love that, KISS are finally coming to an end but I guess until they've wrung the last drop of dignity out of themselves it'll lumber on. I pray Ace and Peter don't take the last pay-check Gene is inevitably going to try and offer them. Not even the return of the real KISS could fix what Simmons and Stanley have done to the KISS name. Fools.

Hey maximus anus! AC/DC has made Back In Black over and over again even Angus admits that. AC/DC growning old with grace and class? they have a soon 60 year old on stage in a school boy uniform? AC/DC are peddling kiddies toys and wines, monopolys e.t.c. these days. If AC/DC would release new cd today it wont sell sell 784,000 copies.

I like AC/DC i will go and see them and if they release a new album I buy it.

You need a reality check maximus anus all the classic hardrock/metal bands like motorhead,AC/DC,Iron Maiden,Judas Priest are flooding the market with merhandise and peddling kiddies toys, wines, beers, monopolys e.t.c.
and none of the bands sells albums like the used to check your facts.

To Gene and Paul it has always been about a 'self generated reality'. Their ego's have been inflated for so many years that they simply do not know how to be any other way. Humility? Never heard of it. Kindness and generosity of spirit? Bah! Humbug. According to these 2 scabs of their former selves this version of Kiss trumps ALL other versions of Kiss. They said it therefore it MUST be so! They made the claim that Gene and Paul carried Kiss and provided 80% of the impetus that kept it going in the first incarnation. There, they said it - it must be so.
They said that Kiss was always about doing what was best for the group and not about furthering your self or getting songs on a record you didn't deserve. Never mind the fact that back then, when a new Kiss album was coming out you looked forward very much and hoped Ace got one or 2 songs of his on there. To me, those stood out more than any others. But, hey... they said it so it must be true. Self generated reality.

Look , I'm not on here to berate Ace or Peter , back in the day when the solo's were put out ,I was sick and out of school but I still made my mom drive me to the record store to get them. Paul's sounded like a kiss disc ,Gene's was off the wall , Peter's , well I knew something was wrong then, and Ace's , man that album smokes , not much of a fan of Back In NY Groove but Snowblind ,Rip It Out , Ozone , Fractured Mirror , Speedin Back To My Baby !! All great stuff , Eddie Kramer could always bring the best out in Ace !

The end is near but not for a few more years and a couple more disc's , and of course everyone stays healthy.

And as far as the hall of shit , I could care less if Kiss gets in that shit hole . It should be called the all music hall of fame , not R & R hall . Kiss should have been in years ago ! I hope Gene and Paul turn them down , IF they ever make it , and at this point , I hope not.

Just one fans opinion .

Sure everybody does KISS just take it to the stratosphere of classless, clueless junk. The more I read this KISS v Kiss stuff the more I realise there is no correlation or connection between those first three eras make-up, non make-up, reunion and this 70s tribute act fools still worship. That isn't KISS you're seeing its a poor version. Man you should have seen them in their prime I guess that fundamentally is the issue. We did, so this is hard to take, you didn't so this seems fantastic. Nobody who stood at the Forum or Anaheim Stadium with me back in the day could possibly stomach this junk and these stupid fans. I'm done because I loved those four guys I even loved the 80s but I can't abide this Tommy and Eric hijacking my heroes legacy. It's not lost on us that Peter and Aces books have both made the Top 10 and Peters outsold Genes 3 to 1 the old fans are still there they just don't care about this abhorration anymore.

Maximus , I've seen them 18 times ,1st in 75 and just last in 2012 , the only show that let me down even a little was the 82 Creatures tour with Vinnie , other than that they've all been killer shows . I totally agree that the magic they had back in the day and even the 1st reunion tour will NEVER be matched !

I guess I'm into the popculture and rock and roll both , I do like collecting certain things , I have the Mego dolls from the 70's the Dunruss collector sets of cards . But I am very selective on what I buy .

jlowery, quit trying to play on both sides of the fence. If you support the new line-up - you'er a LOSER. yes, you did enjoy them back in the day - but now you can't see what fake-ace and singer are doing to the bad we loved. You choose to just be happy they are still around. Not enough. They asked us to stick with them, we did. Now it's wrong... and so are YOU. No make-up or different make-up would be ok. Not this crap.

You can't ruin my day.
But your dumb ass opinions about Kiss contribute to them dying a long, drawn out, agonizing, greedy, tasteless death. Kiss is now a tribute band. You supporting it only adds fuel to the fire - which won't stop.
