Three Quarters Of SEPULTURA's 'Morbid Visions' Lineup Reunites On Stage In Belo Horizonte - Nov. 16, 2012
Former SEPULTURA guitarist Jairo Guedz joined CAVALERA CONSPIRACY on stage earlier tonight (Friday, November 16) at Music Hall in Belo Horizonte, Brazil to perform the early SEPULTURA classic "Troops Of Doom", a song that he co-wrote. Video footage of his appearance can be seen below.

CAVALERA CONSPIRACY is the band led by brothers and founding SEPULTURA members Max (also of SOULFLY) and Igor Cavalera.

A couple of photos taken at the gig, as well as a couple of pre-concert shots of Max and Jairo being interviewed together, can be seen below.

SEPULTURA was formed in 1984 in Belo Horizonte, the capital city of Minas Gerais. Jairo joined the group the following year and played on the band's first two releases, 1985's "Beastial Devastation" EP and their 1986 full-length debut, "Morbid Visions".

In early 1987, Jairo quit SEPULTURA after losing interest in playing death metal and was replaced by São Paulo-based guitarist Andreas Kisser.

In 1996, Max exited SEPULTURA after the rest of the band fired Max's wife Gloria as their manager.

Igor left SEPULTURA in June 2006 due to "artistic differences." His departure from the band came five months after he announced that he was taking a break from SEPULTURA's touring activities to spend time with his second wife and their new son (who was born in January 2006).

After Max exited SEPULTURA, there was a rift between him and Igor, one that was eventually repaired through the redemptive power of music. Some time had passed and Max and Igor were unable to resist the musical pull in their magnetic fields and their musical collaboration was renewed. The duo are back for round two with CAVALERA CONSPIRACY, which released its debut album, "Inflikted", in March 2008 and follow-up effort, Blunt Force Trauma", in March 2011.

Max and Igor played together for the first time in 10 years at the 10th annual D-Low Memorial Festival on August 17, 2006 at the Marquee Theatre in Tempe, Arizona.

According to Max, Paulo is the one who is blocking the Roots lineup reunion, so I doubt he'd go for this.

mostly because Anders is an arrogant prick. But Derrick is also a fucking TERRIBLE singer. His voice is one of the worst in all of Metal.

THIS is the REAL Sepultura!!!

You have to laugh when a Metal/Extreme Metal fan is bashing someone as being a "TERRIBLE singer".... Oh, the irony.... You're essentially slamming one ugly, garbled, guttural voice in favor of another ugly, garbled, guttural voice. Your problem with Derrick probably has nothing to do with his voice.

It's just a one-off, everyone. I doubt this is going to go forward...

It would be fucking awesome though. Even if they wouldn't be able to use the Sepultura name, call it Morbid Devastation or Bestial Visions or something. Then write another album like any of the 80s albums.

Everyone seems to be forgetting that Morbid Visions is unlistenable dribble.

I don't like the current "Sepultura" either, but we should want the "Beneath the Remains" lineup. Not this one.

Wrong... Enslaved is one of the best metal albums in a long time. I thought Max was done when he released the Omen album. That was a stale ,boring stereotypical album. However Enslaved is pure brutal metal and got me back into Soulfly / Max.

If Sepultura re-united I sure hope they wouldn't play any Derrick era songs as there is not one single Derrick era song that could ever be considered a 'classic' Sepultura song

Derrick is a terrible vocalist for metal. He is goofy looking on stage and should have never been hired to be the singer for Sepultura.

I have no issues with Sepultura continuing on post-Max. I just can't stand the generic music they put out with horrible vocals.

I really enjoy about 1/2 of Soulfy's music and about 1/2 of Cavalera Consipiracy's music. Thats good enough. Thats about 20+ excellent songs to chose from.... I can't think of more than 2-3 songs from the current Sepultura line up that I would ever care to listen to again

Did Jairo not play on the last Sepultura dvd with Paulo Jnr and Igor Cavalera? It was only when Andreas joined that they took off.

Jairo T has jammed with the current Sepultura on stage very often. As a supporter of Sepultura (past, present and future), Soulfly (mostly from Prophecy to the the recent stuff) and Cavalera Conspiracy, all I can say is this is fucking great! Troops of Doom is one of my favourite tracks.

You're a fucking idiot. If you are implying I don't like Derrick because he is black, you're barking up the wrong tree. I could care less what color the guy is. I HATE his voice. Simple as that.

And if you think that all harsh metal vocals sound the same you are obviously a fucking noob. Derrick has a really dry sounding rasp, and I'm not the first nor will I be the last to complain about it. His singing voice is decent, but his harsher vocals are just plain terrible.

There is a BIG difference between different guttural vocals too, and only a jackass would make a comment like yours. If you can't tell the difference between Chris Barnes, David Vincent, and John Tardy, you can fuck off back to your Godsmack, Evanescence and Linkin Park albums. Fucking douche.

Let Max finally drop the guitar so he'll stop pretending to play and also stop "composing" the same three note riff in every song, let him just do his three word lyrics and wigger gestures. Instead get Jairo as a constant live and studio collaborator, call it whatever you like, Max is already like Cyco Miko anyway, different band names same people - just make and tour with some new music at least partially made of the oldschool raw dirty thrash/death metal roots. A new band where Jairo and Igor pound songs in the style of Necromancer is something I'd gladly see happening.

The blinding page you are a idiot and should keep stupid comments like yours to yourself. I have no idea how you could call Morbid Visions "unlistenable dribble". I don't even know what dribble is besides what you do to a basketball. I payed out the ass for a import copy of MV back in 87/88 and have loved that album ever since then. That is a death metal classic. Nothing Sepultura has done since Arise is anywhere near the brillance of Morbid Visions. You must not be much of a metal fan or are very young to make such a moronic comment.

Glad to see these guys back on stage playing a classic song though. Those old daze were the best! It is so depressing to see all of these guys fall so far over the past 20 years.

"And then, we looked at each other and said..." "Said, look, why not?" "...we might as well join up. You know?" "So, we became the Sepultura." "Right." "And, uh, we had to change our name, actually." "Well, there was another group, in the east end, called Sepultura and we had to rename ourselves." "The New Sepultura." "The New Sepultura." "Yeah." "And they became..." "...the Regulars. They changed their name back to the Regulars. And we thought we could go back to the Sepultua, but what's the point?"

have never been the same since the original lineups split. Max and Igor need to take the Sepultura name back legally and start playing with Jairo again, The other Sepultura can change their name like they should've done. Eric Green is a good singer but its a different band without max.

Jairo left Sepultura to play thrash, he started a band called The Mist (they kick arse) and released a few albums with them. The last band he was in is called Eminence and they play fucking brutal hardcore. If he rejoined the Cavaleras they would put out some killer music, rest assured.
