DISTURBED Frontman's DEVICE To Release First Single In February, Full-Length Debut In April - Nov. 18, 2012
DEVICE, the new industrial-style project featuring DISTURBED vocalist David Draiman and former FILTER guitarist Geno Lenardo, will release its first single, "Vilify", in early February. The band's full-length debut will follow in the beginning of April. Other songtitles set to appear on the CD include "You Think You Know", "Recover", "Hunted" and "War Of Lies".

Draiman revealed the existence of the project last March, saying it would be in the vein of industrial acts like NINE INCH NAILS and MINISTRY. He later announced that Lenardo was joining the group, although further members' identities have yet to be unveiled.

DISTURBED went on an open-ended hiatus last year, with Draiman saying at the time that all four members wanted some time to pursue other endeavors. "We've got other things that each of the band members wanted to pursue individually, outside of DISTURBED," he said. "There's other businesses we have, there's other interests. We've got futures hopefully to help cultivate for our families and our children, and they can't all revolve specifically around DISTURBED."

DISTURBED has not indicated when it plans to return, although all four members say they're likely to come back.

Aside from Draiman, DISTURBED bassist John Moyer has branched out recently by joining ADRENALINE MOB, a new group also featuring ex-DREAM THEATER and AVENGED SEVENFOLD drummer Mike Portnoy.

I guess it's better them Disturbed being a band. He should go to Isreal and fight with his army.

I see the point you're making as they are better than FFDP, but Disturbed is mainstream as shit too.

Although I'm not aboard the Disturbed hate-train, I can't picture Dave singing to Ministry sounding tunes. Let me predict the future with these guys. They're branching off now and starting some new endeavors, which will probably last a year/year and a half. They'll be unhappy with the public's lack of interest and reform Disturbed to cash in; whether they're feeling back into it or not. Maybe a break away from the band will do them good; they seem to have lost creativeness when their music blew up. Whether or not you like Disturbed, no one can argue the dramatic change they went through after "The Sickness". That album was just an all out, say-what-you-want kind of record, but then it spawned some radio play and that was it. He went from screaming at and killing his mother, to songs that were filling up playlists on pop radio. When bands stray away from what they set out to be, the tend to lose their way pretty quickly and fall into the 'generic sound' category, as Disturbed had done. And now, they're music just sounds forced. I say, take the break, get whatever the hell you need to get out of your system, and return with an empty head. Listen to your debut for a while and try to relive the person you once were to remind yourself what you really wanted to play, and just do it. Metallica changed their sound in the 90's, and now they've spent over 12 years trying to get their thrash back...Moral of the story; don't sell out your sound.

What the fuck is "industrial-style"?

Is that like a Fischer Price piano or something?

Yes, I know what "Industrial" is. I'd like to know why it doesn't say "his new industrial project". It says "industrial-style" like it's assumed that his version of industrial will be some second rate cheesy version. Kinda like a Fischer Price piano? I guess my reference was just a little too vague for 5 dumbfucks on a Disturbed thread.

I'm surprised Disturbed lasted as long as they did and garnered the success that they did - I haven't heard anything overly memorable from them in forever?

Exactly what I would expect from a disturbed fan. You're beyond hope, even advice from the likes of me won't help you, just keep heading down the narrow clueless dipshit road you're on. It shouldn't take a genius to realize that this is the bottom of the barrel.

i can imagine Draiman singing over industrial stuff, but more metal, less NIN.

I doubt they are expecting this to blow up. Just seems like one of those small projects.

who is releasing it? anyone know?

Disturbed have played 'The Game' perfectly. Worked their ass off for one decade, put out 5 records - all went platinum except the last one. Toured and only had to play 1 hour or 90 minute sets... Made a TON of money...

And then pulled the plug... for awhile.

This is how you build a legend. Very very few bands can continue on without taking a hiatus.

Whatever you think of Disturbed, that first album was game changing. It was a great record imo. 'Believe' wasn't too shabby either.

These guys are whip smart from a business perspective.

I look forward to Dave's Industrial band, there hasn't been much good Industrial in a long time.

but 1 good album out of five does not make a legend, it makes a career. If you can honestly see these guys standing next to sabbath, priest, Metallica or iron maiden, the Beatles...more power to you, I don't see it.

wild rover from hell, you didn't say we were comparing Disturbed to The Beatles or The Priest. Those 2 bands are in my top 5. I like power metal and Disturbed fits the bill. Nowhere near my favorites.
