PAUL DI'ANNO: New Audio Interview Posted Online - Nov. 22, 2012
On October 30, Jason Saulnier of the MusicLegends.ca web site conducted an interview with former IRON MAIDEN singer Paul Di'Anno. You can now listen to the chat in the YouTube clip below.

Due to a number of health issues, including a knee problem which will require surgery soon, Di'Anno announced in July that he will stop touring next year.

In a message posted on his Facebook page, Paul stated about his impending retirement from performing, "To all of you who have been with me from the start, and many new friends who have given me the privilege of being able to play and meet so many of you through the years, I can't find the right words to tell you all how much I'll miss you. All of you have my love and respect forever, and anyone who knows me knows that ain't a load of bollocks you have kept me going through difficult times, happy times and a lot of heartbreak. I thank you all with all my heart and I'm glad you're not here right now watching me write this crying like a big Jessie (for you, mates, it means a wuss!). Thank you all again, I love you all and wish you all health, good fortune, and most of all, love and happiness. You will be with me always. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Timao Corinthians n again te amo simper. Love, Paul."

Michael Salenius, Di'Anno's Swedish booking manager and tour manager, told BLABBERMOUTH.NET that next year will be "a big, fantastic" last touring year for Paul, with a lot of solo shows, festival appearances and Di'Anno vs. Blaze Bayley concerts. You will also see various guest musicians joining Paul on stage.

Di'Anno recorded two classic albums with IRON MAIDEN before being fired and replaced by Bruce Dickinson. He went on to front a number of other bands, including KILLERS and BATTLEZONE, and released several solo records.

Di'Anno will embark on a U.S. tour in late December.

The singer completed his first North American tour in early 2010, 17 years after he was deported following a prison term for guns and drug offenses.

Fan-filmed video footage of < Di'Anno's entire November 3 performance at Liverpool in Donetsk, Ukraine can be seen in three parts below.

Interesting that they're using older photos of how they looked while in Maiden. I guess it makes sense because thats what you would associate with their time in Maiden.

But if you go to the show, and haven't followed Blaze and Di'Anno in awhile, you might wonder who the 2 bald guys on stage are.

Can't believe this is the same Di'Anno who sang on two of the greatest metal albums in the first two Maiden records.

...and was expecting a train wreck from Di'Anno after some recent youtube footage - especially the one in the Ukraine...

He was actually half decent and played nothing but the Maiden stuff which was awesome to hear again...

Was never a fan of the Blaze stuff (is anyone?) but the motherfucker can sing his arse off and may have changed my opinon of him...

all in all a great night of Maiden in an intimate setting and I didn't pay either...which was a bonus...Up the Ex Irons...

Di'Anno can lick my nuts. Arrogant, drunken, fat piece of trash. And those that say the first 2 maiden albums are their best are crazy. They are good albums but The Number of The Beast, Piece of Mind, Powerslave, 7th Son all are better.

I wonder what Paul is up to after his "retirement".
Cash in welfare checks again?

it does matter a lot.. early iron maiden was all about a fresh, new, higly energetic, powerfull experience. now you see an old fart who is less than an shadow of the past.

I love how he always mumbles and grumbles as if he hates playing old Maiden tunes, that they're a chore or something but if you look at his live sets and bootlegs over the years, he's milked the fuck out of those first two albums. Let's face it, no-one cares about his solo stuff.

Actually some of his stuff is pretty good, Battlezone, Killers and most recently (2001) that Dianno album.

Too bad he never really stick his guns to his own material, always falling back to the "maiden cover" thing...

Easier money I guess..

Yes, I am a PROUD Blaze Bayley fan and there's plenty of us.

Paul rocks and I hope he changes his mind, takes a couple of years off then starts touring again. A new album would be nice, "Nomad/The Living Dead" was KILLER.

trost: That stuff's good indeed. I wonder what happened of the punk cover album with Sepultura members, I hope that one comes out sooner or later.

Metalimpressiondotcom: Ever heard of TASTE? The first two Maiden album ARE their best my far, this is my and MILLIONS OF OTHER PEOPLE'S opinion, suck it up. Also Di 'Anno is a nice lad, hardly a piece of shit and far from arrogant, I'v met the guy and he was a pleasure to be around, signed everything the fans asked him to, took pics with everyone and even invited people to the restaurant to eat with him. Not many touring singers are like that. Sounds like you're the arrogant piece of trash, not him.

Paul DiAnno is great guy and perfect singer but he can be the beast too.
His solo works are one of the most underrated music out there. Battlezone, Killers, Almghty Inbredz, Dianno etc etc. Try "Feel My Pain". truly great song!
amen
