METALLICA: 'Damage, Inc.' Performance Clip From 'Quebec Magnetic' DVD Available - Dec. 11, 2012
METALLICA has just released a live DVD called "Quebec Magnetic" through the band's newly launched Blackened Recordings label. The double DVD and single disc Blu-ray is available for a price a "very METALLICA fan-friendly" price — suggested retail is $15.98 for either format. Filmed by Wayne Isham during a two-night stand in October of 2009 in Quebec City, it is METALLICA's first self-released project. "We just played two really phenomenal shows. They were outrageously great and the audience was great and we had a bunch of people filming it," METALLICA guitarist Kirk Hammett told Billboard.com. "We felt like we're really doing a disservice just sitting on this great live footage, so we decided to put it out."

"Quebec Magnetic" track listing:

01. That Was Just Your Life
02. The End Of The Line
03. The Four Horsemen
04. The Shortest Straw
05. One
06. Broken, Beat & Scarred
07. My Apocalypse
08. Sad But True
09. Welcome Home (Sanitarium)
10. The Judas Kiss
11. The Day That Never Comes
12. Master Of Puppets
13. Battery
14. Nothing Else Matters
15. Enter Sandman
16. Killing Time
17. Whiplash
18. Seek & Destroy

Bonus songs:

19. For Whom The Bell Tolls
20. Holier Than Thou
21. Cyanide
22. Turn The Page
23. All Nightmare Long
24. Damage, Inc.
25. Breadfan
26. Phantom Lord

The "Damage, Inc." performance clip from "Quebec Magnetic" can be seen below.

METALLICA announced on November 30 that it has taken ownership of all the band's master recordings and long-form videos under a provision of the band's 1994 joint venture agreement with the Warner Music Group. According to that provision — almost unheard of for acts signed to major label contracts — all the masters reverted back to the band. Frontman James Hetfield said in a statement, "We would like to thank everyone at the Warner Music Group for 28 years of a fantastic relationship, particularly since 1994 where we truly felt we had partners in every aspect of our business in North America."

The band has also revealed that it is launching its own label, called Blackened Recordings, that will be the new home for all of their recordings and videos, as well as anything else that the band may come up with. All marketing and promotion will be handled by Blackened, with distribution through Rhino Entertainment in North America and the Universal Music Group internationally. Drummer Lars Ulrich said, "Forming Blackened Recordings is the ultimate in independence, giving us 100 percent control and putting us in the driver's seat of our own creative destiny."

Ulrich told The Pulse Of Radio a while back that METALLICA was long past the point where the band needed a corporate record label to support it. "The great thing about being in a band like us is that we're in a position to bypass the record company," he said. "Basically record companies act like banks. And when you don't need the bank element of a record company, then you can kind of do it yourself."

METALLICA is also working on a 3D feature film for release next summer, as well as a new studio album that should surface in early 2014.

...is still my favorite thrash song ever.

This version isn't too band, guitars sound good, too bad James sings the way he does now.

He doesn't need to be a better drummer, he's the drummer in Metallica. Didn't he say that once ?

Given how much money Metallica have it is incredible to me how terrible their guitar tone is.

Big Metallica fan here, but I agree on that one! Plus, this video editing is dreadful, and studio doctoring is evident on the clips displayed so far.
With that amount of money to spend, I would demand a lot more quality from the producers, but unfortunately I think quality is not a priority for Metallica anymore...

a) they release a video that's completely as-is, in which case you would slam them for being sloppy and off-key
-or-
b) they release an edited video where you slam them for "dreadful editing".

I'm far from being a Metallica fan-boy, but you should refrain from attacking bands just for the sake of jumping on a "They Suck Now" Bandwagon.

There's not much more to say about their guitar tone. Sounds like the farting arse of a 65-year-old ex-pornstar with a lifetime of double anals behind her.

You should have been at Donington in '91, they were abysmal. 20% of the crowd walked away after 30 mins.

James sounds like a really nice father-figure now as a good example to the kids. All the anger...angst...growling...etc...totally gone.

The big problem with Metallica these days is that they just can't replicate the early material with any fidelity to the recordings. James fuck things up with his half-assed vocals, trying to sound like a singer when he's always been a screamer. Lars can,t keep time and accelerates everything, including important breaks and punches. Kirk is botching most of his leads, trying to keep up with Lars accelerating all the time. Robert, well, he's the hired gun to replace Jason and Cliff. He's ok but you can't hear much of him anyway live.

Whatever, we're left with a bunch of millionaires who simple lost the anger of their youth and a band whose simply no more hungry. it sounds and looks like that. You can praise them all you want for being close to their fans, for bringing great stage shows all around the world or for opening the Metal genre to the masses but they ain't the band they used to be; They're miles away from it. From that perspective, I'll never finance any of it anymore. The last metallica album I bought was And Justice For All and there,'s a reason...

Why does Lars even bother anymore. Please hire a drummer to play these classic songs we all fell in love with when we were teenagers. Stop ruining my memories.

The only thing that always bugged me about their live sound is how out of tune Kirk guitar is. I just can't believe his guitar tech can't tune a guitar. It surely has to do with how Kirk's playing. He surely slightly bend his strings when he plays. That's just ridiculous.

To my big surprise Lars is the only one that sounds great on this DVD

If they could have created a guitar sound like Master of Puppets and And Justice for All in the studio back in 80's, there is absolutely no reason and above all no excuse why they can't create that same sound on live shows. Do they know how crappy the guitars are sounding?
They should fire the sound men

Can't beat the price of this. These naysayers don't seem to realize that they contribute to the machine that is Metallica just as much as us "Fanboys" do. Drink a beer and try to complain less. Cheers to Metallica. Happy holidays.

I've completely lost faith in Metallica. People pay massive amounts of money and put the time and effort into their live shows only to be met with a scrappy performance turned up so loud and played with the so called "vibe' and the 'energy' that no-one supposedly notices how badly they actually play. All the dvds are massive edited. It's a fraud. Laziness, arrogance and total disrespect for those who have provided them with their immense livelihood.
To top it off, Lars says that those who don't like Lulu are too dumb and unsophisticated to 'understand' it. The arrogance is astounding. I hope they're uncovered fully what they truly are

Larzzz's timing remains terrible, but at least we have some double bassing in this clip. Not too shabby... I'd never expected he'd be able to do it. But still, overall his performance is far from what he should be able to pull off!
