BODY COUNT: New Album Title Revealed - Dec. 13, 2012
BODY COUNT, the metal band fronted by legendary rapper Ice-T, has set "Manslaughter" as the title of its new album, due next year via Sumerian Records. The group will enter the studio in January to begin work on the CD.

In September 2009, BODY COUNT made an appearance at the Vans Warped Tour 15th-anniversary party at Club Nokia in downtown Los Angeles. The group played a 20-minute set, covered SLAYER, talked a ton of trash and closed with their controversial classic "Cop Killer". Also on the bill were NOFX, KATY PERRY, PENNYWISE, BAD RELIGION and RISE AGAINST.

BODY COUNT's last album, "Murder 4 Hire", came out in 2006 via Escapi Music. Lyrically, the songs ranged from political ("The End Game"), personal ("You Don't Know Me [Pain]"), and religious ("The Passion Of The Christ"), to obsession ("In My Head"), armegeddon ("Dirty Bomb"), hate ("Lies") and relationships. A eulogy for fallen band member D-Roc was also included ("D Rocs [RIP]") as was a hilarious take on deep south rednecks ("Down In The Bayou"). The CD closed with "Mr. C's Theme", a show-stopping hard-rock instrumental.

Ice T has always cracked me up, but the guitar tone on the first BC record sounds like the dude recorded it with a $50 POS amp.

Excellent! I've been listening to all the Body Count stuff since I heard the news a few days ago. I still prefer BC and Born Dead, but I've had a change of heart on the Violent Demise and Murder 4 Hire. There's some good stuff on those albums. They seemed to go a bit more into the rap metal area, but they've been growing on me in the past couple days. Maybe I didn't give them a chance before.

Hopefully a tour will follow.

Looking forward to the new one, and

Murder For Hire wasn't a great record compared to the other 3, but the Gears of War single was a nice taste of what to come. I'll be getting this one. Necessary Evil!

The title ''Manslaughter'' reminds me of Law & Order by the way.

I hope they go for a sound like their live DVD (on youtube if you look) from 2005.
I'd gone off them for s while until I watched that video earlier this year.
No tinny guitars or over production Ice.

I wasn't a fan of the first album. It was a novelty for sure, and arguably humorous in lyrical content, but it was about as metal for the time as Slipknot was when they came out.

Novelty.

Glad to have BC still putting stuff out 20 years later. I can't believe it's been that long. They were fuckin shit up left and right back in 1991-92.

Since first hearing BC's debut 20 years ago, I always thought the guitar sound was from some 20-watt Crate combo amp.

"But you see, I live in South Central Los Angeles....and unfortunately....SHIT AIN'T LIKE THAT! IT'S REAL FUCKED UP!"
