OBLIVION Featuring Former ALL SHALL PERISH Guitarist: 'Reclamation' Video Released - Dec. 23, 2012
"Reclamation", the new video from San Francisco Bay Area "blackened, technical post-death metallers" OBLIVION, who feature in their ranks former ALL SHALL PERISH guitarist Ben Orum on bass, can be seen below. The special "End Of The World" version of the clip was directed by Brandon Hunt and is the first OBLIVION video to feature the band's two new members: Orum and guitarist Victor Dods (HACKSAW TO THE THROAT).

"Reclamation" comes off OBLIVION's debut album, "Called To Rise", which will be released on January 1, 2013.

OBLIVION is:

Nick Vasallo - Vocals
Ben Orum - Bass
Ted O'Neill - Guitar
Victor Dods - Guitar
Luis Martinez - Drums

Orum announced his departure from ALL SHALL PERISH earlier this month, explaining in statement that he "could not fulfill [his] duty as a touring musician any longer" due to the fact that he needed to provide for his family. He added: "While I am done with touring, I will never stop writing music. I am joining the extreme metal band OBLIVION as a bassist and contributing songwriter. We are beyond excited to unleash [our debut album] onto the metal world. I've always been into death metal and extreme music, [and] this is my return to true death metal."

...But not as good as Canada's Obliveon. 'Nemesis' and 'Cybervoid' are classics.

tech-death bands are so boring to watch. they can shred like mad but that's it. no stage presence, no energy. from what i see in the video, these guys are more of that.

and +1 on the canadian obliveon comment.

He'd been better off staying in All Shall Perish...

He leaves All Shall Perish because he "could not fulfill [his] duty as a touring musician any longer" due to the fact that he needed to provide for his family."

Then he proceeds to join a brand new band a few weeks later.

In this day and age, bands are pretty much obligated to tour. It's their bread and butter...so, what is this guy gonna do when the tour offers come in for the band? Sit on the sidelines and let someone else play the bass?

Something doesn't add up.

To answer your questions guys... OBLIVION are not a band looking to tour and make a living from touring. We are just self producing and releasing music for people to enjoy, period.

So.... Enjoy!

Love Ben Orum

Im a big fan of Ben's work in All Shall Perish. Loved Hate Malice and Price of Existence....they're simply kick-ass albums... Awaken was ok, but the latest is far from the early releases.

Im glad that Ben left All Shall Perish, then we wouldnt have Oblivion! ;-p

My only worry is such an excellent 6-stringer is playing bass (with all due respect to bass)... please continue to play lead/rhythm guitars.... or atleast record them....may be do a couple of songs in an album.... Loved the lil' bass jig at the beginning of this video...

Hope you guys tour in the future....Please try to tour INDIA... that's where am at...

Dennis.

I can totally respect a band that make self-produced music just for the love of it. The business side of music is watering down art, that's for sure. I actually enjoyed this song, pretty brutal shit!

I just have some difficulties accepting their name, sort of disrespectful for the legendary band Obliveon.

I love how their wikipedia page is trying to address this issue by saying:
Despite there being several other bands named Oblivion, the members officially secured the ownership of the name with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

That doesn't change the fact that they could've picked any other name on the planet but they still chose to go with this one and patent it... kind of lame.

In the end they'll always be "the other" Oblivion...
Anyway,... whatever...
