CHICKENFOOT To Take 2013 Off - Dec. 24, 2012
Sammy Hagar (CHICKENFOOT, VAN HALEN, MONTROSE) has revealed in a new holiday video message that CHICKENFOOT will take 2013 off to focus on other projects. He said: "Joe's [Satriani, CHICKENFOOT guitarist] doing his thing and Chad's [Smith, CHICKENFOOT drummer] just coming off a [RED HOT] CHILI PEPPERS tour and he's not gonna wanna go into the studio. So I think Mikey [CHICKENFOOT/ex-VAN HALEN bassist Michael Anthony] and I and the WABOS, we'll just go out and do some stuff." That "stuff" will likely include "more shows, maybe a proper tour" and possibly even a new record."

In other news, Hagar will perform at the third-anniversary party of the Cabo Wabo Cantina in Las Vegas, Nevada on February 9,. Wristbands free on a first-come-first-served basis.

CHICKENFOOT recently reissued its gold-selling 2009 self-titled debut as a double-disc set. The new version features bonus live tracks recorded on the group's tour behind its sophomore studio effort, "III"

CHICKENFOOT's most recent touring lineup included legendary drummer/musician Kenny Aronoff, who was filling in for Smith while Chad was on the road with RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS.

Who cares? Fans of Sammy Hagar, a man who obviously has no talent. And that lack of talent has allowed him to make a career in music for the past 3 or 4 decades. Who cares? The fans that will go see him and the long time bass player of Van Halen bust out some great rock and roll. Be sure to let me know who your favorite bands are so that I might post a mindless, stupid, "who cares" comment on their stories as well. Merry Christmas!

Alf's a lot younger. And his nose is a lot longer. I do see some resemblance, though. Sam looks pretty good for his age. Sings darn good for his age as well. Hope alf looks that good when he is in his 60's.

Sammy is roughly the same age as Steven Tyler and Robert Plant. Twice the voice, twice the vigor, and still going strong id say.

Sammy is one of the last true class-acts in heavy music. He kept rockin' when he didn't have to. He employs many many people, gives to charities and probably gives to fans more than anybody. This is a man with a career in rock that us peons only dream of, and guys like Eddie, David, and Alex VH wish they could of had. He is one of the last true wordsmiths, a genuine rock and roll singer/songrwriter. It is too bad when the younger guys on here dismiss not only Sammy, but anybody that isn't new stuff. This man is the reason that rock is around today. And he can still bring it better than kids, hell, 1/3 his age. Your disrespect shows your intelligence.

There are so many things to point out about your comment, but these 3 take the crown. Funny your are ending up your post talking about intelligence (good one!). Merry Christmas Sammy (and thanks for taking time to post)!

Van Hagar saved Van Halen there would be no Van Halen right now if it were not for Van Hagar.

Sammy is a class act and knows where his bread is buttered ...the fans.. Van Halen could learn a thing or 2 about respecting the fans.

I would like to see Sammy and Mikey go out as The Other Half again. I caught their 6 song set at a Sammy show a few years ago and it was cool hearing the 5150 songs again.

Heck, even if they did a small theater show, fans would show up.

Wasn't Sammy supposed to be doing some VH, Montrose, solo gig thing in '13 anyway? (like a show he did in CA a few months ago).

In 2013 I'll be listening to new Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Deep Purple songs... Maybe even seeing an Ozzfest show with Sabbath and Priest!

Take all the time off you want Sammy ... you've earned a extended long vacation!!!

Hagar deserves props, he's been around for decades, always positive, funny, and still sings great. Are his lyrics the best? No. Are his songs the best? No. But he's written some classics with and without VH. And I agree with the poster above who said Van Halen would be history long ago had Hagar not kicked new life into them. They were FINISHED in 1985 when Roth left. Roth's voice was gone by the late 80's too. With Hagar they had 4 #1 albums, not a bad "2nd chapter" for any band...He definitely extended their shelf life, kept them going, and in the public eye. After Ed Lefler died, the only man who could keep Ed in check, they fell apart. This has been a Van Halen moment...

finished? I love this notion that the bros VH would have never been heard of again. EVH was the biggest rock star on the planet, VH was a monster. They could have plugged in anyone and kept it going. Sammy Hagar was a soundtrack rocker, if he could keep VH going, they could have used anyone. Billy Squier. you name it.

Smart.. Prefer albums every couple of years . Not like BCC, shoving three albums out in just over two years was ridiculous and is backfiring. The foot are smart not to overexpose the band.

Even if I'm not that big of a fan, liked Van Halen more than Van Hagar , can't stand Chickenfoot (no good songs) , I still like Sammy the Man and would buy a ticket to see him play live anytime. Would rather see him play a set of his solo hits plus Van Hagar & Montrose over Chickenfoot anyway.

Sammy is a great performer and a great guitar player, truly a living legend and Rock & Roll Hall Of Famer.

As long as he plays live concerts I'd buy a ticket.
