'United States Of Cabo' Documentary On SAMMY HAGAR Fans; New Trailer Released - Dec. 30, 2012
An independent documentary about Sammy Hagar fans (Redheads) titled "United States Of Cabo" will be released in early 2014. The new official trailer for the film has just been made available by Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada's Murmer Films and director Murray Wasylnuk and can be viewed below.

Spotlighting fan stories from the many "Redheads" that celebrate all things Sammy Hagar and Cabo Wabo, "United States Of Cabo" has seen the filmmakers travel to South Lake Tahoe to capture a special performance from CHICKENFOOT in September 2009, then returning in May 2010 during the Cinco de Mayo celebrations for the annual event that boasts back-to-back concerts and a pre-party like no other.

In July 2010, Wasylnuk headed to St. Louis, home of the largest gathering of Sammy Hagar fans on the planet. While there, the director captured more Redhead stories and even managed to gain exclusive interviews with all three members of the WABOS.

Hagar released his autobiography, titled "Red: My Uncensored Life In Rock", in March 2011 via It Books, an imprint of HarperCollins Publishers.

Hagar, the multi-platinum Red Rocker, is best known as the bombastic frontman of VAN HALEN, one of the biggest-selling rock groups in history, and the lead singer of the hard rock group CHICKENFOOT.

Are there really die hard Sammy Hagar fans? I get that people like him or they wouldn't buy his records. But die hard fans that connect with him like that? Doesn't make sense. But I guess thats what the film is for. Looks pretty low budget, but whatever works.

Love or hate him Mr. Hagar knows how to rock live. But he was dead wrong about the new VH record.

... has a core fanbase that is devoted to him. They all fly to Cabo for his birthday shows, follow him on the road. The part that always seemed strange to me is why St. Louis is so into him. He's a California guy, lives in Hawaii and Mexico, I just don't get the connection to St. Louis.

there wouldn't be a Van Halen today if it wasn't for Sammy. Their career was over after Roth left and Sammy basically changed their sound and rescued them.

Eddie is a great guitar player but he has no motivation and a horrible business sense.

Roth was entertaining for a few years but go see him now his voice is gone and what was cool 30 years ago is now embarrassing to watch.

Sammy was the Best thing that ever happened to Van Halen.

Sammy is a true entertainer and always will be.

Redheads 4 life

don't be silly. you like Sammy, that's great. No problem, VH and EVH would have done just fine without Hagar. Yes, commercially, VH did excellent with Hagar, taking nothing away from that. But do you really think EVH and the band would have just faded away? There was NO other singer that could have taken that spot? I think they would have figured something out. no? please.

Sammy Hagar, pre VH, was a corporate sound track rocker. I can't drive 55? I think EVH's riff's and songs elevated Sam a bit, don't you? My point is, they could have had any guy like that, say Billy Squier, and it still would have been huge. or somebody really talented, and been even better. Maybe not #1 on the charts, but they weren't a pop band. ...EVH & VH were the biggest band on the planet in 1984...and if they hadn't found a singer, they probably would have patched it up with Roth. Who cares about EVH's business sense? Rock me. don't care about chart positions, or record sales.

for many, Sammy was one of the worst things to happen to VH. He brought a pop element to a once savage beast, a band that was album oriented hard rock, became a band that was in the charts.

this film clip is priceless. This guy says Sam is the best show he's ever seen? really? he needs to get out more. RedHeads is a life style. Frightning. Sam seems fun to see in Cabo, night out partying, playing his silly love songs, and cliche rockers, but the best show you've ever seen? Good lord.

Here's a clip of Sam on the first day he actually played with EVH in public, 1985. This is the guy they hired. embarassing. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R56GOuigAuE

a major collector of live concert performances (video/disc) and one of the greatest shows I own is Sammy (St.Louis,83).It was a made for MTV concert of the week, and to this day kicks my ass. I saw him live in 85 (with the matching jump suits) and was disappointed. Since that time I have seen him twice with Van Hagar. Both times having an excellent time. Sammy takes a backseat to no one when it comes to live performances.
