TRISTANIA Begins Recording New Album - Jan. 5, 2013
Norwegian/Italian metallers TRISTANIA entered the studio on Friday, January 4 to begin recording their seventh full-length album for a late May release via Austria's Napalm Records. The first part of the recording sessions (drums) will take place at Tanken Studio in Oslo with engineer Fredrik Wallumrød, before the band moves to another location where they will join the CD's producer for the remainder of the recordings.

TRISTANIA's sixth album, "Rubicon", was released in August 2010 via Napalm.

TRISTANIA in 2007 announced the addition of Italian singer Mariangela "Mary" Demurtas to the group's ranks. Guitarist Gyri Losnegård was added to the lineup in 2008.

The band's previous CD, "Illumination", was released in January 2007 via SPV. The effort was recorded at Woodhouse Studios in Hagen, Germany with producer Waldemar Sorychta (LACUNA COIL, TIAMAT, GRIP INC.).

I know bands change, I don't expect or want a band I like to keep rehashing the same sound. That being said I must confess I am not a fan of Rubicon. I'll stick to playing Widow's Weeds or World of Glass. I will reserve judgement until I hear the new album.

Sure, Rubicon was different, but I liked it. I just hope they will have some longer, more epic songs on the new one.

It's not the new vocalist which bothers me about Rubicon, but the less imaginative pop-like format of the songs.

Still, I didn't hate it (although I do prefer Vibeke-era material ... except most of Illumination) and will definitely give it a fair spin.

First couple albums, great, but it's gotten worse and worse and worse and more of a joke as time goes on.

Judging from the comment ratings, Tristania is reading this.

Might as well be, since barely anyone else is.

And while I'm at it, try having some artistic integrity, you assclowns.
