JASON NEWSTED Would 'Absolutely' Play METALLICA's 'Orion Music + More' Festival - Jan. 14, 2013
Former METALLICA, VOIVOD and FLOTSAM AND JETSAM bassist, and current NEWSTED frontman Jason Newsted was interviewed last week by Cindy Scull of the Dallas, Texas radio station 97.1 The Eagle. You can now listen to the chat below.

"Soldierhead", the first video from NEWSTED, will make its online debut this week. The clip was filmed on December 15, 2012 in an abandoned factory in California.

In a recent interview with Sonic Excess, Newsted stated about the video shoot: "It's just a simple thing, and I just wanted to capture the band. There is no heavy concept, no literal thing about bullets chasing your head or any of those things. It's old-school metal and most likely will be black and white. It was shot in an old factory. It was a gnarly, dusty, old factory and it had energy. That is what I will describe it as. I haven't got to play to the camera like that for a long time, and I was really going for it. The soldier version is something everyone will have. An HD version will be available on iTunes, but I want everyone to have it for free across the world. I want it to be the tip of the spear for everybody to see and hear what exactly it's all about."

"Soldierhead" was premiered on the December 17, 2012 edition of the "Eddie Trunk Live" show on SiriusXM satellite radio. The song comes off NEWSTED's four-song EP, entitled "Metal", which was released on January 8 exclusively via iTunes. The EP will be made available as a physical CD on January 15.

"Metal" contains the following tracks:

* Soldierhead
* Godsnake
* King Of The Underdogs
* Skyscraper

By purchasing all four songs, you will receive a copy of Jason's handwritten lyrics.

NEWSTED is:

Jason Newsted - Bass, Lead Vocals
Jesus Mendez Jr. (THE NAPOLEON BLOWNAPARTS) - Drums
Jessie Farnsworth - Guitar, Backing Voice

Newsted and his bandmates will guest on the nationally syndicated radio show "Rockline" with host Bob Coburn on Monday, January 14 at 8:30 p.m. PT / 11:30 p.m. ET. Fans are encouraged to speak with Jason by calling 1-800-344-ROCK (7625). The show will be streamed on the "Rockline" web site for two weeks beginning the afternoon after the live broadcast.

I like Jason Newsted, but I really don't need to read about everything he thinks. I've not commented on the last 20+ articles but every day it seems that he has something to say about something.

I was thinking the same thing! But I guess he does have some new material to promote, so I guess we will know in a couple of months.

He has a new release out and he is doing a press tour for it. He's financing this whole thing himself, so obviously he is going to every available outlet to get the word out. The fact that Blabbermouth chooses to make every appearance and interview a story is on this site, not him.

That would be cool if they invited him on stage for a few songs.

Would much rather hear Jasonic talk, especially when he touches upon his time in Metallica, than the daily "Tainted Vest" updates we had in the latter part of 2012.

However, it is fun getting Mishy all riled up :-)~

I think it would be very big of the boys to invite him to play @ Orion. It would be a huge jesture of continued normal friendship they no seem to have. Plus the fans would go nutz and of course he'd make an appearance on Metallica's stage for a little Battery! Larz......make the call!

What the hell is a 'tallica? That's not the name of the band and its silly to try and come up with some trendy TMZ. This is metal and we don't do that!!!
