Video: SOUNDGARDEN Frontman Performs At 'Commander-In-Chief's Ball' - Jan. 24, 2013
SOUNDGARDEN frontman Chris Cornell performed at the Commander-In-Chief's Ball, helping President Obama and Vice President Biden honor U.S. armed forces, on Monday, January 21 at the Washington Convention Center.

Video footage of Cornell's appearance can be seen below.

The Commander-In-Chief's Ball recognized Medal of Honor recipients and Wounded Warriors with a guest list that included both active duty and reserve military. In addition to Cornell, the entertainment portion of the evening included artists and celebrities like Alicia Keys, Brad Paisley, Jamie Foxx and Jennifer Hudson.

Cornell told The Pulse Of Radio that he is confident SOUNDGARDEN's comeback album, "King Animal", is just the start of a new phase for the group, with more new albums to come. Unlike many reunited acts who make one album at most and call it quits again, Cornell said that he thinks SOUNDGARDEN can go the distance. "I think it can," he said. "I don't see any reason why not. The overall attitude about keeping it going, that attitude seems to be really good. I mean, there's nothing stopping us from continuing to make records, that's for sure, and continuing to play shows. We had a great experience doing this album and since we've been back together everything we've done has kind of been that way."

Cornell told Billboard.com about the way the band is handling itself these days, "I think that's a simple as us making the conscious decision to not be influenced by anything other than what the four of us want to do and not putting a business version of a timeline on it. Our attitude is that we're doing this because we love it and because it matters to us and not for any other reason, and everything else kind of takes care of itself."

The group, which reunited in 2010 after a 13-year layoff, recorded "King Animal" last year and released it in November. It's the band's first new set of studio material since 1996's "Down On The Upside".

He should have performed Scream. I'm sure they would have loved it.

Chris looks like a beatnik from the 50's with that beard and velvet smoking jacket and the turtleneck sweater. The only thing missing is a beret.

Don't they mean "his royal highness' ball"? I wish King 0bama would invite me to something, just so I could turn it down. I would never perform or sit in the audience with that commie pinko.
