BRIAN 'HEAD' WELCH's LOVE & DEATH: 'The Abandoning' Video Released - Jan. 28, 2013
"The Abandoning", the new video from LOVE & DEATH, the band led by former KORN guitarist Brian "Head" Welch, can be seen below. The clip was filmed November 10, 2012 with director — and UNDERØATH/ex-NORMA JEAN drummer — Daniel Davison.

"The Abandoning" comes off LOVE & DEATH's debut album, "Between Here & Lost", which was released on January 22 via Tooth & Nail Records. Recorded in Nashville with producer Jasen Rauch (RED, BREAKING BENJAMIN) and mixed by Paul Pavao, Ben Grosse (MARILYN MANSON, DISTURBED) and Jim Monti (KORN), the CD consists of 11 tracks, ranging from songs about personal struggle and triumph ("Chemicals", "My Disaster", "Paralyzed") to emotionally charged anthems ("Fading Away", "Watching The Bottom Fall") to a riff-heavy rendition of DEVO's 1980 hit "Whip It".

LOVE & DEATH is comprised of Welch, lead guitarist JR Bareis, bassist Michael Valentine, and drummer Dan Johnson.

Like the album title suggests, "Between Here & Lost" captures the honesty of light and darkness, beauty and tragedy, good and evil, delivered by a band with intense passion and commitment to the message of its music.

"This record was birthed from trials, tribulations, pain, suffering, anxiety, depression, and drama," stated Welch. "However, we came out on top and the end result is a very real, raw and honest record. We are so stoked for people to hear it! From our opening song, 'The Abandoning', to our cover of DEVO's 'Whip it', to our collaboration with Mattie Montgomery from FOR TODAY on 'I W8 4 U', It's an exciting piece of art and the listener will feel the different range of emotions with the lyrics and melodies of each song."

"Between Here & Lost" track listing:

01. The Abandoning
02. Whip It
03. Watching The Bottom Fall
04. By The Way...
05. Meltdown
06. My Disaster
07. I W8 4 U (featuring Mattie Montgomery)
08. Fading Away
09. Paralyzed
10. Chemicals
11. Bruises

LOVE & DEATH formed when Welch decided to have open auditions on YouTube in 2009. "I picked the guys and then had a jam session in Phoenix," says Welch. "Over the last couple of years, there have been a few lineup changes as we went through normal growing pains. The current band has been together and touring for a while now and they are a big part of the new music and the future of LOVE & DEATH."

LOVE & DEATH will be touring extensively in 2013 to support the effort.

This has been said before: Though it's not my jam, it's a million times better than what Korn is up to these days.

Korn could still be relevant if they'd been able to keep making music like this.

I don't think he needs Korn. Korn needs him!

It seems hes better off by himself rather then having his band pulling strings.

It's cool to see he can stand on his own. At lot of people cant.

This material blows Korn out of the water. Like his vocals too.

Korn need Head back in their band. Even as a ghost writer. This sounds like Issue-era Korn. Korn, doesn't sound like Korn anymore. If this had JDs vocals, this sound could easily be a return to form for Korn.

Korn - get Head back in your band.

Isn't hard to see why Korn went down hill when this dude left. That chorus is athemic as fuck. His vocals are not bad either.Korn really do need this guy back if they want to continue releasing relevant music, and not just tour off the back of their back cataolouge.

I rarely care about a metal bands "look",but that mascara, eye liner and dangling arms shit looks fuckin retarded!.

What's up with sudden praising of this guy? This sounds like korn, nothing innovative really.

Yo dude. Korn hasn't sounded like Korn since this guy quit the band. Sometimes it's not about innovation. Sometime's it's about recapturing what made you successful in the first place.

Head's new band, Love and Death, is pretty good. Their debut album is better than anything that Korn has put out in a decade. On iTunes it's got an average 5 star review after 250+ reviews.
