Witness: RANDY BLYTHE Was 'Extremely Aggressive' On Stage During 2010 Prague Concert - Feb. 5, 2013
LAMB OF GOD frontman Randy Blythe's trial on charges of manslaughter in the death of a fan at a Prague concert got underway yesterday (Monday, February 4), with day one focusing on the singer's own testimony.

Blythe is facing the possibility of conviction and a long-term jail sentence after a 2010 incident in which a fan, Daniel Nosek, attending a LAMB OF GOD show died almost a month later, allegedly from injuries sustained when he was thrown off the stage.

Back in court on Tuesday, Blythe listened to testimony from nine eyewitnesses, some of whom were friends of Nosek while others were were friends of Milan Poranek, a concertgoer whom Blythe admitted to pushing off the stage during the same show. The witnesses described Blythe's demeanor at the May 24, 2010 concert as "extremely aggressive."

"[Daniel] climbed onto the stage, he turned to the audience and was thrown into the crowd. Blythe pushed him from behind with both hands, I'm one hundred percent sure," said witness Jan JebavĂ˝.

Another witness stated that Randy asked the crowd if Daniel was okay and when told that he was, continued the concert.

Witnesses also disputed Blythe's assertion that the band warned the audience to stay off the stage and claimed that the security at the venue made little effort to control the crowd.

According to WTVR, many of the witnesses struggled to recall the events of that concert nearly three years ago.

Blythe gave a statement on Monday in front of the three presiding judges (there are no jury trials in the Czech Republic), telling the court that he was a man of his word and had returned to face his charge, just as he promised he would.

"The death of a fan is heartbreaking," he said. "I'm not a man who runs from his problems, but I do not wish to be punished and suffer the consequences of an act I did not commit.

"I never saw Daniel and I never came in contact with him," he added in court.

Also testifying in court yesterday were LAMB OF GOD drummer Chris Adler and the band's manager, Larry Mazer, both of whom described Blythe as quiet and well read. They also explained that Blythe's aggressive stage persona was merely a part of the show.

The trial is expected to last until the end of the week.

The parents of Daniel Nosek are demanding compensation of 10 million Czech Koruna (approximately $530,000).

Blythe was imprisoned for five weeks in the Czech Republic after being detained on June 27, 2012 when the Grammy-nominated, Richmond, Virginia-based band arrived there for a show.

The singer was freed without charge in August but had to post $400,000 bail, then left the country, vowing to return for the trial.

An audio recap of the first two days of the Blythe trial from Prague Post reporter Jonathan Crane, who is helping cover the proceedings for WTVR.com, can be found below.

Why he went back there is beyond me. He should have just said "Fuck the Czech Republic" and never played there again.

You could have the most "honor" in the world. "Honor" doesn't do you a lick of good in a corrupt, backwoods country.

If he'd had said "Fuck the Czech Republic" and never went there again, I doubt anyone with half a brain would find that cowardly.

If anything, I think it is naive of him to go back there.

The United States and the Czech Republic have an extradition treaty with each other. Who is to say that he wouldn't have been shipped off to face trial whether he wanted to or not?

Perhaps it isn't so much that "only the guilty run" as it is that it looks bad if you run from a murder trial and have to be involuntarily transported to it.

if he wouldn't have gone back, then he wouldn't of been able to tour with the band outside of the U.S.....
think about it....bands make money from touring....and a band as big as Lamb of God can't just stay in the U.S. forever now because of this.

Also, by him going back it proves that he believes in his innocence, and it also proves that he has bigger balls than 99.9% of anyone out there, cause i know just about everyone else would be too chickenshit to go back for the trial like he has

Mr. Randal Blythe is one hell of a class act. he has shaped up and made himself a better man in the last few years, and this is without a doubt the biggest proof of that.

Well if he didn't go, sooner or later the mess would probably go international and he'd have to make a list of (mostly European) countries that would instantly arrest his ass and deliver it to the Czechs. I know most Murricans will say "fuck Czechs, fuck Europe", but other than your emo boy ear tunnel modern radio whinecore pop-metal nobody here cares about, a proper metal band can't just say "fuck it" to a whole continent littered with metal festivals.

There is the essence of the trial right there. This could get complicated. What the crowd saw and what Randy saw are two different things.

I am still not clear on what this guys injuries were that caused him to die a month later?

This really sounds like a security issue to me. At some point the band has to defend itself if security is not.

I have met Randy several times before the Lamb Of God name switch from Burn The Priest. He was a very nice and well spoken guy. He did not come off as a jock thug or someone who would intentionally hurt someone.
I believe that going on the videos that I have seen from that night, the victim could have caused the damage that killed him at any point of the night. And not due to the "push" off the stage that Randy apparently ensued.
It's a horrible thing that has happened but I think the courts are looking for a scapegoat. It's terrible that Randy is the one who has to deal with it...

even like LoG that much. When I first heard this I thought Randy had gone and done something stupid. I took the time and watched the posted video of the stage divers antics, that the kid recording says is the exact one he handed to the authorities.

I saw nothing in there but one handed pushes back into the crowd from Randy while the kid was attempting to jump back anyway. The security guard however did a double fisted shirt grab and throw to him. My question has always been "Where the hell is that guy at"?

the officers in the case had done enough interviews since 2010 to try and convict randy. They wouldn't just arrest someone for no reason.

randy was being the typical "agro" he usually has been the last 10 years on stage and it's got him fucked.

I've already said this a million times, but here we go again, "CHARGE SECURITY", otherwise there is absolutely NO POINT to even having them at all. People's safety should fall directly under security, and anything that goes wrong should fall onto them, otherwise there is absolutely 0 point to having people like that at concerts!! Unless now suddenly its the bands job to make sure no one gets hurt (partially is, which is why they HIRED SECURITY!!!). The only reason this is even a case against randy is because he acts angry and violent on stage (which youd expect at this kind of show... anyone at the show was expecting that, im sure of it), plus if randy actually stopped the show to make sure the kid was alright then this is beyond asinine...

He could fill in for 10 years until the big Get Outta Jail reunion tour of 2023. Alternatively, he might be allowed to record in jail, as Varg did.

I've never heard LOG, but the guy seems alright from the little I've gleaned. Sometimes, shit happens, no one is 100 percent at fault, and should be treated accordingly. Sadly, that basic outlook is lost in our litigious crazed age.

The fact that large sums of money are seen as part of getting 'justice' for such cases should also go against prosecution, but it's seen as normal and right. Shouldn't seeing your sons killer in jail be all you care about?

I could name several high profile cases right here in the USA where victims families rightfully went to court to sue for compensation in wrongful death situations. Listen Nancy, all i'm saying is that kid looked like a professional stage diver by going up and down from the stage 3-4x by video. Who knows how many times he did it unrecorded and how may shows he attended afterwards doing the same thing. If this was here in good old America, the venue would have been in as much trouble than the singer. And again I didn't see anything that made randy look like he used excessive force, nor do I like LoG very much either.

So what? It's not illegal to stagedive, Chief. I know, I know... you watched a video and your some sort of expert now. Except what has that got to do with my comment about morons making the victims family the villians here?? I've never stated any position on Randy's guilt or not, EVER, IN ANY ARTICLE, other than to say let the court take care of it, so no idea wtf you're on about! But then you're the idiot who once called CNN a conservative news outlet once. Exactly why I would never call myself a metalhead anymore. Dumb, with a capital D.

And no, it isn't illegal to stagedive anymore than it is illegal to drive a car or smoke, but people die from it everyday. I feel bad for the kids family and friends, but maybe if they looked at it from an angle that he was doing something that could result in risk of bodily harm it would just be an accident.

And as for the CNN thing, I use sarcasm 90% of the time. But of course you know that because you're the smartest man(verdict still out if your male) on this site.

Yeah, because putting a price on your son's life is the right thing to do... Fuck that kid's parents and fuck his friends, it sucks that he died but it was his own fault for repeatedly going on stage when he wasn't supposed to.

who probably had a great time at the show, in the pit with their friends, now saying Randy was "aggressive"? Really, aggressive at a metal show? Come on. I sympathize on the loss of their friend, but they knew full well that comes with the territory seeing a band like LOG. Bottom line, the guy shouldn't have jumped onstage. Unless you lived under a rock, you know what happened to Dimebag, and musicians are expected to be ok with people randomly invading their space? Common sense has officially been lost...

Is that right? I woulda thought these people would be smarter than that. Anybody that actually believes that he's guilty of a murderous crime is a buffoon. As people have said, the guy jumped on stage, and Randy essentially did what anyone would do if the security didn't act. Randy doesn't deserve this, it was an ACCIDENTAL DEATH. Never Forget Dimebag!!

If you see ice on the sidewalk, dont step on it. Its a human beings responsibility to take into consideration danger no matter what it may be. If you are at an aquarium and it has sharks in it , do not jump in, whether or not its posted. This is totally a money thing and nothing more. No matter what country you are in this applies. I truely dont think anyone with any sense will convict someone of pushing anyone thats already running to jump off the stage at any type of entertainment show. Its just stupid. Its a sad thing when anyone passes away. But when its that persons own FAULT for his/her own misjudgement of safety no one should put blame on other people. I have nothing more to say about this except Randy Blythe did absolutely nothing any other entertainer would have done in the same situation. I AM DONE HERE.
