TESTAMENT, OVERKILL Frontmen Interviewed On SiriusXM's Liquid Metal (Video) - Feb. 16, 2013
OVERKILL frontman Bobby "Blitz" Ellsworth and TESTAMENT vocalist Chuck Billy took part in a joint interview SiriusXM's Liquid Metal with host Jose Mangin on Thursday, February 14.

A five-minute snippet of the chat can be seen below (courtesy of Munsey Ricci at Skateboard Marketing Ltd.).

TESTAMENT and OVERKILL are currently on the road in North America together part of "The Dark Roots Of Thrash" tour, also featuring FLOTSAM AND JETSAM and 4ARM.

In a recent interview with Full Metal Jackie's nationally syndicated radio show, Billy stated about touring with OVERKILL: "When [the thrash metal scene] first started, we were young and it was about the East Coast / West Coast battle of styles of thrash. It was funny because OVERKILL was actually one of the first bands we toured with on 'The Legacy' record and it's funny because we've seen each other and toured that tour, and in the 25-plus years, we haven't even ran into each other anywhere, not festivals in Europe, nowhere. It was weird coming to this tour; it's going to be déjà vu all over again like I wonder how it's going to feel. When we were young, it was that East Coast / West Coast rivalry. I wonder how it's going to be this time. We've seen each other and we talk about families and the kids and me and Bobby were actually just talking about how it's a new generation of metalheads now and how both of us have just forced through with our own styles of music and still doing what we do best. It's great here we are again 20-plus years later doing it again."

TESTAMENT's February 15 concert at the Paramount Theatre in Huntington, New York as part of "The Dark Roots Of Thrash" tour was professionally filmed for a 90-minute DVD, to be released later this year via Nuclear Blast.

OVERKILL's new album, "The Electric Age", sold 6,500 copies in the United States in its first week of release to debut at position No. 77 on The Billboard 200 chart. The CD was recorded and mixed at Gear Recording Studios in New Jersey, owned and operated by OVERKILL bassist D.D. Verni.

Should be a good DVD

Sucked Overkill had to cancel, but people get sick, so get well Blitz. Testament was fantastic, the whole band. Is it possible that Skolnick keeps getting better? He was just on fire last night.

back in the heyday of thrash in the mid to late '80s, i wasnt a fan of either band, but ill give credit where its due. these bands are still putting out quality shit......which is more than we can say for the 'bigger bands' from that era.

Good interview, but too short of a clip. That host is hilarious. I especially liked his story about telling his wife that they were going to the show on Valentine's Day, because I had a similar experience. When I found out about the show, I flipped out and started pacing around the house and ranting to my wife about how excited I was to see this dream billing of metal legends. As soon as I calmed down a little, I went and bought a ticket online.

Right after that, my wife came in and observed that the date on the ticket was our wedding anniversary! ...And not just any anniversary, it's our tenth!!! I knew she had big plans for that day, so I did the right thing and said I would sell the ticket and skip the concert. But she immediately said that there was no way she was going to deprive me of seeing this, since she couldn't remember the last time I was so excited about a show.

Yes. I really love my wife!

I just heard Bobby had a stroke last night.

This sucks.

One of the coolest people I've met.

I hope all is well.

I'm going to the Twin Cities date one week from today. I saw all the great metal bands at First Avenue back in the 80's. Slayer, Overkill, Megadeth, Testament, Metal Church, Powermad, the list goes on. I was just at the arena across the street to see The Who looking at First Ave thinking "what happened" and the next day I found out about this show. I'm really psyched. Can't wait to see Flots as well. I sure hope Overkill is gonna be there!

Someone posted it on the Overkill forum. Said they talked to one of the road crew and that's what he said.

It's just a rumor until an official announcement about what really happened..

I also heard Pneumonia. There should be some sort of news in the next 24 hours.

Whatever happened, I hope he's doing good.

COMMENT | Overkill Cancelled Last Night on Long Island

Went to this show at the Paramount on Long Island last night. Great club, my first time there. We get there and there are signs on the door saying that Overkill will not be playing due to band member illness. After Flotsam & Jetsam played the other members of Overkill came on stage and DD said they couldn't play because Blitz was sick and throwing up. Testament played a very good set. Alex Skolnick is a freak.

The band posted a statement that he has walking pneumonia. He just has to take a little time off to get over it.

"We are terribly sorry that we had to cancel our performance last night, but let's put the rumors to rest, before speculation runs rampant.

Blitz was diagnosed with what is called "walking pneumonia", and was medically advised to not perform due to it potentially getting worse if he did. When the health risk is no longer an issue, he'll be ready to kick ass once again."
