SUICIDAL TENDENCIES: New Album Announcement Coming Soon - Feb. 21, 2013
Long-running Venice Beach, California thrash/punk band SUICIDAL TENDENCIES is planning to make a special announcement — which will apparently include a new album — on March 13.

Says the band: "Get ready for the new SUICIDAL TENDENCIES release. Also, we are working on the new website which will be released soon.

"U.S. tour dates, as well as more details on the new album and the new website/webstore will be announced later this week. Stay tuned."

When asked why he thinks the sound of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES has stood the test of time, the band's frotnman, Mike Muir, told Loudwire in a 2012 interview, "I think for us, when we started we didn't really know what we were doing. We didn't really set out and try to do something for other people. We stood there and did what we liked. We didn't care what other people thought. After we did our first record, one of my good friends came up to me and said, 'Yo, Mike, I got to talk to you. People aren't going to like the album. It's not music. You have an opportunity to make music that people can listen to on the radio.' But I didn't think that was an opportunity because I didn't like what I was hearing on the radio. Our barometer is not what people are going to think or how many records we can sell. We just want to be proud of what we make. That's why it stands the test of time. We did records that we thought were really good."

On the topic of SUICIDAL TENDENCIES' plans to release a new studio album, Muir said, "We've always had new music in the works. Now it's actually to the point that we have some that we're ready to put out. Now is the time to put out a new record and we feel really, really good about it. There will definitely be a record out this year.

Regarding what fans can expect from the upcoming CD, Muir said, "The way we look at it is that next year will be the 30th anniversary of our first record. When we look at a record, we don't want to have it sound like 2012. We want it to sound awesome 25 years from now, so when a kid who wasn't even born when we made it listens to it, he's like, 'Damn, that's a cool record!' I just had a guy from a radio station tell me that some listeners have been requesting the new song 'Institutionalized'. The young listeners don't realize that's an old song! Something like [METALLICA's recent Orion Music + More festival] is good for us, too, because a lot of people who wouldn't have listened to us will check us out because they know Robert [Trujillo, METALLICA bassist] was in the band."

EXACTLY! Clark hasn't been in ST for almost a year or so. He wasn't part of the US east coast summer tour last year and wasn't at ORION fest.

I can't wait to check out the new S.T. album. It's been like, what, 13 years since they released their last one.

Fuck me, there is some trans fats on show in that photo. I wouldn't like to be in a room after they fart.

No silly funk sound on the new album. It is dated and leave it to Infectious Grooves.

Rocky and Rob left, and now that Mike Clark is also gone, I think this band are truly dead. Maybe they'll prove me wrong, but I seriously doubt it...

I'm afraid so. :( It'd be great if this "announcement", was also announcing Mike Clark's return (and god forbid, Rocky!) to the band, but at this moment in time, he is officially out of the band, yep.

I used to fuckin' love Suicidal Tendencies!
Everything they released from 1983 to 1994 was great.

They haven't released anything good since Mike relaunched the band in 1999.

I pray this new CD is a return to the greatness of the first 11 years of the band. But, I'm not holding my breath on that.

Saw these guys in Iowa back in 94 and they just tore it up!

I'd like to think that this new album would be good. But no Rocky and Mike.....that sucks!!!

I lost all respect for Rob when he joined Metallica!!!

Yes, Mike Clark is no longer a member of Suicidal Tendencies.

This is what I found on Wikipedia:

"On May 31, 2012, in Santa Cruz, California, Clark suffered a head injury during a pre-show incident resulting in concussion that also required nine staples to a gash on his head. He has since left Suicidal Tendencies and is currently[when?] not performing with any band. He was replaced by Nico Santora."

It's pretty ridiculous the way this band goes through musicians...at this point, the lineup makes about as much sense as Tate's Queensryche.

Bring back Rocky and Clark already.

.... I hope they have a kick ass album followed by a tour that I attend this summer. Haven't seen them since they opened for Queensryche during the '90's.
