NIKKI SIXX Says MÖTLEY CRÜE Will Go Out On A High - Mar. 7, 2013
In a brand new interview with Australia's TheMusic.com.au, MÖTLEY CRÜE bassist Nikki Sixx spoke about the band's plans to go out on a high.

"I wanna finish our movie [adaptation of MÖTLEY CRÜE's New York Times bestselling collaborative autobiography 'The Dirt: Confessions Of The World's Most Notorious Rock Band'] and put out a new album. We'll be back in Australia and, ah, that'll be it. I can honorably say, 'We did it our way and we're never coming back.'"

He continued: "It's important that when you do a farewell tour that people understand that when you put a bullet in the back of the horse's head, and it goes down, it's not a plastic bullet it's a fucking shotgun blast. You know, blow its fucking brains out, it's never coming back. It has to [be that way]. It's the only way I can look at myself in the mirror and do a farewell tour. That's it. So when we take our final bow, it's it. I will cry. I cry thinking about it.

"So it's very emotional and I just think it's important that we finish what we started and then, you know, it will be whatever it will be. It could be beautiful. It could be a beautiful ending! When you go and see a great movie — I'll leave you with this: when you go and see a great fucking movie and it ends and you go, 'Fuck!' like, you walk out and you go, 'That was amazing! That blew my mind!' It's not like, 'That blew my mind and, um, maybe there'll be a sequel to it'."

MÖTLEY CRÜE last year released a brand new song called "Sex" to coincide with the launch of the band's North American co-headlining tour with KISS.

Written when the group was together during their residency in Las Vegas in February 2012, "Sex" was the first studio track from the CRÜE since their June 2008 release of "Saints Of Los Angeles".

Does that mean he's foreshadowing his own relapse?

Gee, that headline wasn't a pun at all, given that he himself doesn't say "high" once.

Doesn't that mean the band should have ended twenty years ago?

Just like this farewell tour? I see no dead horse or shotgun. If the shotgun goes anywhere it should be in his mouth.

Ah, yes, the old farewell album & tour trick. Great for making piles of cash. Just ask Ozzy & Kiss.

Haters be damned. The first 2 decades had some great music. Especially the Corabi album. Sure would be nice if they finished it out with a worthy album. That Sex song sucked. We need something with filth & energy, not fat & reality show.

They'll be back 3 to 4 years from now. If no one shows up to the farewell tour then obviously it will be a farewell...

R.I.P. original Mötley Crüe 1981-1989. These guys haven't released a good album since Dr. Feelgood and they probably never will.

- they'll get someone who can play bass?

I'd think this would have more to do with Mick Mars' impending inability to play onstage. If that's the case I applaud them for not carrying on with (shudders) DJ Ashba or someone.

Obviously Vince's inability to SING has not limited their touring ability.

Kiss has been around twice as long as Motley Crue and they arent doing a "farewell tour" any time soon. Motley are too young to retire I dont see why theyre doin this

When you get to the point where you're constantly talking about "going out on a high note", chances are you haven't been at the top of your game for a long, long time!

One reason might be Mick Mars about two steps from not being able to walk anymore.

Another might be that Vince hates them and they hate Vince.

Regarding your Kiss comparison, maybe it's because the Crue care enough about their fans not to hire DJ Ashba and dress him up like Mick Mars.

Crue peaking 20 years ago, or what have you. The show there doing now is a monster. After seeing them numerous times throuout the decades, not even shout at the devil compares to this. I was stunned how great they were on the tour. Theyve had highs and lows. But Id be hard pressed to say that any of it "sucked".

The last Crue show I saw pretty much sucked. Mars and Lee were right on, but even they couldn't carry the lumbering Nikki Sixx and the woeful Vince Niel. Here's how I break it down

Tickets - 13,000 yen
Train - 1,600 yen
Beer - 1,000 yen
Watching Vince come in in the middle of a line and having the band follow him and get out of time with the canned backing vocals - priceless

They'll continue to tour until Vince Neil achieves the Chandrasekhar limit and collapses into a White Dwarf.

Uh.. Buddy, KISS are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, Motley have been around since 1981, i'm sure I can do maths, because it sure doesn't look like KISS has been around twice as long, only another 8 years more than Motley Crue. But that's okay if you can't count, we will be here to help you step by step.

If this is true, it's great news to me!

I have NO interest in this boring band of scumbags. After decades of having to buy overpriced Crue tickets just so I could see their interesting opening acts, and having Crue clutter the bill of otherwise interesting festivals, there is finally a sign that they are going away!!

I will be quite happy to se them go. Coming soon: Tommy Lee on American Idol.

The Kings!! Disappointed to see them go when it's time, since i've been a longtime fan and they are one of the first bands I got into back in around '96/97ish. Hope the last one is even better than SOLA and if there's one good thing about it, it's that Mick will finally get that solo album finished.

These guys are to young to retire. They must really hate each others guts!! Motley are a last of a fastly dying arena rock breed! Sad news!! Who's left..KiSS, Aerosmith, Van Halen. And these bands are down to their final years too. The only younger band with a hard rock edge to them thats sells arena's is Nickelback.
