They're both Queensryche. The judge who oversaw the court case between Tate and the rest of the band decided "the free market" should be able to sort out who wins. So now anybody who doesn't visit Blabbermouth 14 times a week isn't going to know that no, Queensryche didn't really put out two albums in the span of a year, and will end up sinking money into both bands just to find out that one of them is a fraud and one isn't.

So is that the excuse that you'll use if the new Tate fronted Queensryche sells well?

Youre absolutely right Gino. It happens all the time... eventually fans will be asking for reuinons. The problem here is Geoff alienated himself from the majority of the fans by taking the music in a direction the fans didn't like. He refused to play their favorite songs at shows, and then told them "They suck" at a show, which eneded up on a video that went viral for all the fans. Sure eventually when everything cools down, they might be warm to the idea of a reunion on a song. but with Geoff's reputation, I dont think it will be of any concern if he doesn't.
At the end of the day it won't matter who has the name or what the financial situation is or who put out a record first. It's who puts out a QUALITY record first. Geoff didnt trust his own version of Queensryche to do that because he has 10 songs and 8 guest musicians for his album.
He went out of his way to send a message to his bandmates by naming his album FU. I mean really? What is he in high school still? It's that kind of mentality that the fans see. It's cheesy. If you think Geoff is still amazing, by all means rock out to him. He was a great singer if not a decent person to know. The interpretation from the majority of fans is that Geoff is going to keep making the music in the direction of the last few albums and those were some of the worst received, so why should the majority of fans be excited by anything he's doing?

Anyone on here actually make the show? Curious how busy it was. Phoenix is big place with a balcony, can't really tell from the video. The ticket price was pretty steep but if I wasn't going to a show tonight I'd have been there.

Both bands should sign a legal, binding contract to create 2 albums, to be released by a set date. Then a website should be set up by a 3rd party, not at all associated with either band, for the sole purpose of fan voting. Whichever album gets the most positive reviews wins all. The other band has to change names and use absolutely no reference to the name "Queensrhyche" at all, whatsoever.

Tate and his wife ran this band into the fucking ground. Starting with the abomination called Operation Mindcrime II, every album had sharply declining sales. If he was the business manager, he was a shitty one.

Now his latest decisions -- shitting out a solo album within months of getting fired that sells 1800 copies, a tour that sold poorly, shitting out another album with the same tin-eared hacks that produced the last few shitty QR albums, the self-serving, immature press release to go with it, etc. -- don't lend any confidence to the idea that Tate has any fucking clue what he's doing.

OTOH, the real QR have gone on a successful tour with Todd and have spent time trying to reconnect with their fans and rebuilding their audience. They're playing the music fans actually WANT to hear instead of the crap from the last few albums. They went back in the studio with Jimbo Barton, who has been able to pull the best out of these guys before. They signed with a metal label instead of a reissue print. They have Live Nation on their side.

I can dig the nostalgia aspect of wanting to see and hear a band with the original singer. Even you have to admit that Geoff Tate simply can not sing the classic material anymore - at least not without rendering that material changed greatly (in a poor way) from a vocal standpoint.

It sucks because the guy was once a fabulous singer with a great and soaring range. I'll check out the upcoming FU record, but sans a whole lot of studio magic, I'm not expecting much in the way of a great vocal performance.

As he is today, I think Geoff Tate is best suited for lounge/ jazz material. The man should go with what he is capable of. I mean, if FU has him singing like he once did (via pro tools and what-not), it will be a disaster if he tries to perform the material live.

obviously you do know your metal if you're listening to "abigail"! and gino... you're an idiot. if the guys stayed with geoff they would have put out another geoff tate solo album that would have been pure shit instead of playing metal like they want to do. if their new stuff sells five copies they will still be happier than they were with the release of dedicated to chaos. i bought it, it was simplistic boring crap that only served as a showcase for tate's ego. it wasn't metal, hell it wasn't even rock. it was some old white guy trying to rap with the metal version of acid loops or something. definitely not the band that i used to think deserved to be the biggest metal band ever!

And no matter what you actually think of JLT personally, stage or voice wise, he did front Rainbow at its commercial peak and Yngwie Malmsteen never saw as much success as he did with JLT

and i dont care when someone buys a king diamond album just that they do! his stuff is amazing and andy larocque... one of the best ever. for me it's "them and conspiracy" but i know most people say "abigail". its all good stuff though

I've got the original EP here from Mercyful Fate 'Burning the Cross' got it in 1981, I don't care about people who downloaded 'Abigail' this week and they think they know it all. I am in no way way a casual QR fan, got all the original released material and tons of bootlegs , all the stuff, fan since the EP days, and I am 100% supporting Geoff Tate, couldn't care less about TLT and his following. It's all fake and copycat stuff.

I know about the career of Joe Lynn Turner, from Fandango, Rainbow, the best Malmsteen album and various good albums after that, but his short stay in Deep Purple wasn't a succes.

His stay in DP was a disaster and was always going to be. He was in the Blackmore camp and Lord and Paice did not gel with him.

Depending how you look at it, Slaves and Masters was the finest Rainbow album ever, or the greatest Ritchie Blackmore solo album ever......the man in black was on fire on that record; between 1984 and 1993 he only released one dud album, House of Blue Light....
