For most other bands, the release of live albums with regularity might seem unnecessary. For MOTÖRHEAD, it is not only accepted, it's expected. And if you're a fan you want every damn one of those live releases because there is an authenticity and passion about MOTÖRHEAD that translates so well to the stage, not to mention the fact that drummer Mikkey Dee, bassist/vocalist Lemmy Kilmister, and guitarist Phil Campbell are killer musicians individually and an incredibly tight live act collectively. Even QUEEN's Brian May affirmed as much about that tightness when he performed with the boys on "Overkill" some years back in the U.K., as captured on DVD. If all those things weren't true of a MOTÖRHEAD live recording, then one might get a little tired of hearing the umpteenth live rendition of "Ace of Spades", "Overkill", "Stay Clean", and "Metropolis". But one doesn't.

As such, one should have no qualms about purchasing "The Wörld is Ours – Volume 1: Everywhere Further than Everyplace Else", a darn fine package containing two CDs and one DVD of live performances (and a few interviews on the DVD) from one of the only bands that matters. A Blu-ray edition is also available. The centerpiece is the band's set from the Santiago, Chile stop of "The World is Yours" tour, which includes the aforementioned favorites, as well as the always awesome "Just 'Cos You Got the Power", the spine-tingling "Killed by Death", and one of the catchiest/grooviest songs ever recorded by MOTÖRHEAD in "The Chase is Better the Catch". Then there's reliable opener "Iron Fist", a selection from the Robo era in "I Got Mine" (from 1983's "Another Perfect Day"), the adrenaline-pumped, Chuck Berry-inspired staple "Going to Brazil" (from "1916"), and underrated über-rocker "Over the Top". Material from "The World is Yours" album includes "I Know How to Die" and "Get Back in Line", while "Rock Out" and big-hook gem "The Thousand Names of God" are taken from "Motörizer". In what is quickly becoming a classic, "One Night Stand" (from "Kiss of Death") appears early in the set. Finally, "In the Name of Tragedy" is the "Inferno" representative and features a Mikkey Dee drum solo smack dab in the middle of it.

The complete 17-song set in front of a riotous Chilean crowd on April 9th, 2011 is included on the DVD, as are performances of "Rock Out", "The Thousand Names of God", and "Killed by Death" (with Doro Pesch and Todd Youth) filmed at the Best Buy Theater in New York. Six songs — including "We are Motörhead", "Be my Baby", and "Born to Raise Hell" (with Michael Monroe) — are taken from a 2010 gig at the Apollo in Manchester, U.K. The two CDs compile all of the same material, except for the interviews. As if there were any doubt, the sound mix is good too. Finally, the CD/DVD package is done well and inclusive of a slew of terrific photos in the booklet. Good enough to recommend to any MOTÖRHEAD fan? That's been established.
