A PERFECT CIRCLE Guitarist: 'New Songs Are Definitely In The Future'
September 24, 2010A PERFECT CIRCLE guitarist Billy Howerdel told Gun Shy Assassin in a new interview that there are plans to release new music after the band completes its short tour this fall. "New songs are definitely in the future," Howerdel said. "As to how they're packaged and how many, that's yet to be seen. But we're working on it. [Frontman Maynard James Keenan]'s possibly working on some new stuff; I don't know where it's at right now. I've thrown some songs to him and he's working on it. I'm working on new music, too. We might debut some of these things at some of these new shows in the fall."
A PERFECT CIRCLE will hit theaters in five cities this November, with each city save one getting a three-night stand. The band will play each of its three studio albums — "Mer De Noms", "Thirteenth Step" and "eMOTIVe" — on a different night.
In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Keenan said about the decision to play small venues, "There's no way we're going to sell out arenas. We haven't been around for six years . . . These shows are going to be very small intimate theater gigs, basically just the five of us trying to connect with each other."
The cities the band will hit on this run are Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Phoenix and Las Vegas. The group will play just two nights in Vegas, dropping the eMOTIVe performance.
The 2010 lineup of A PERFECT CIRCLE will include Keenan, Howerdel, drummer Josh Freese, former SMASHING PUMPKINS guitarist James Iha and bassist Matt McJunkins.
Keenan said that former members Paz Lenchantin, Jeordie White and Troy Van Leeuwen have been invited to stop by the shows and play on a couple of songs.
A PERFECT CIRCLE currently does not have a record deal.
