A PERFECT CIRCLE: 'The Sleeper Must Awaken'

September 27, 2006

TOOL/A PERFECT CIRCLE frontman Maynard James Keenan has posted the following message on the APC web site:

"Peace. Sorry it's been awhile since we've posted. Been busy. Billy [Howerdel, guitar] is hard at work on his solo project and I'm on the road with TOOL, working on the www.puscifer.com website, and making wine in between all that. No telling when Billy will be finished with his new material, but what I've heard is very promising. I forgot to post lyrics for 'Thirteenth Step' and 'eMOTIVe' so [I'll] get on that soon. Check back often. Peace. Out."

A PERFECT CIRCLE's sophomore album, "Thirteenth Step", was certified platinum on March 24, 2006 by the RIAA (Recording Industry Association of America) for shipments in excess of one million copies.

In a May 2006 interview with MTV.com, Howerdel said about A PERFECT CIRCLE's future plans, "We don't know what's happening. [Maynard and I have] talked about it lightly. A few months ago, it was like, 'If we did A PERFECT CIRCLE again, I'd want to do this or that.' It was a benign conversation. I think we both entertain the fact that it could happen again, but for right now we don't have any plans to do it again. We're focusing on what we're doing now. A PERFECT CIRCLE is done for now."

Speaking to France's Rock Hard magazine last spring, Keenan revealed that A PERFECT CIRCLE had likely reached the end of the road as a touring and recording entity. Asked what the future holds for A PERFECT CIRCLE, Maynard said, "I think it's over," before adding, "We pushed this project as far as it could go, and I see ourselves playing again together only in a few years to make one or two songs, nothing more."
