AC/DC Honored For 'Outstanding Service' At Australia's APRA Awards
May 20, 2003AC/DC members Angus and Malcolm Young, along with late frontman Bon Scott, were honored with the Ted Albert Award for Outstanding Service To Australian Music at this year's APRA (Australasian Performing Right Association Limited) Awards, held at Sydney's Four Seasons Hotel on Monday (May 19).
Speaking in a recorded message from London, Malcolm paid special tribute to Bon Scott saying, "On behalf of AC/DC and Bon Scott, especially Bon as he's a big part of this, we're proud of the honor of receiving this award."
In a fitting end to the night, Melbourne punk band 28 DAYS paid homage to AC/DC by performing a version of their monster hit "Back In Black".
As previously reported, AC/DC will play several intimate German concerts next month around their previously announced support gigs with THE ROLLING STONES. A new studio album from the group is not expected before 2004 at the earliest.
