AC/DC-Inspired Movie 'Thunderstruck' Confirms International Distribution Deals

May 23, 2004

TheAge.com.au is reporting that the new Australian film "Thunderstruck", which follows five friends who are devoted AC/DC fanatics and after a near-death experience, make a pact to bury whoever dies first next to their idol, the late AC/DC singer Bon Scott, has already confirmed international distribution deals.

The movie was screened four times during The Cannes Film Festival and the film's representatives have been hoping to capitalize on AC/DC's international popularity to secure buyers.

"From the very beginning, we really believed that 'Thunderstruck' would work all around the world," the film's producer Jodi Matterson said.

"Not only because of the AC/DC hook, but because the themes in the film apply universally and the film is a great romp that is sure to have you leaving the cinema feeling better than when you walked in."

Deals have been struck in Germany, Portugal, Spain, Korea, Scandinavia, Benelux and Japan. In addition, two offers have already been received for the lucrative U.S. market.

Discussions are also underway with U.K. distributors. The film was released nationally in Australia on 163 screens on Thursday.

"Every country likes it and has shown a very strong interest," said Bjorg Veland, chief executive of the film's Norwegian-based sales company BV International Pictures.
