AC/DC: Proof Copy Of Unreleased '12 Of The Best' Collection Sold For $9,000

According to a posting on the AC/DC fan and collectors site AC/DC Highway To Hell, a cassette copy of the band's aborted Australian "best of" album "12 of the Best" has just sold on eBay for a whopping $9,000!

"12 of the Best" was a "best of"-type album that was originally intended for release in Australia in 1978 but which was eventually scrapped after guitarist Malcolm Young objected to its release. Only a handful of LP proof sleeves of this are in circulation, and this was the only one cassette copy (which actually includes the cassette!) in existence, making it a a one-of-a-kind AC/DC collectible item. In related news, AC/DC tribute band LIVE WIRE will be performing live on the air on Halloween night (October 31) on Opie and Anthony's XM Satellite Radio show "High Voltage". This event will be taking place at The Hard Rock Cafe in New York City (brand new location in Times Square) and is in celebration of Opie and Anthony's one-year anniversary on satellite radio.
