AC/DC's 'Black Ice' Still Tops In The U.S.
November 4, 2008According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, AC/DC's new album, "Black Ice" is on track to sell between 250,000 and 275,000 copies in the United States in its second week of release to hold on to the top position on The Billboard 200 chart.
"Black Ice" is Wal-Mart's fastest-selling album of 2008, according to figures released last week. The disc, which is being sold exclusively through Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and ACDC.com, moved more than 780,000 copies in its first seven days of release.
Special "pop-up" AC/DC stores are open through January 9 in New York City and Los Angeles, where Wal-Mart does not have stores.
"Black Ice" also topped the sales charts in 29 other countries last week, including the U.K., Germany, Canada, France, Argentina, Japan, Australia, Belgium, Finland, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Switzerland and more.
AC/DC kicked off its world tour in support of "Black Ice" on October 28 in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.
