AC/DC's Norwegian Chart Reign Continues

November 6, 2008

The Norwegian music industry was caught by surprise when AC/DC topped the album chart with "Black Ice" last week, reports Norway's music industry magazine Faro Journalen. But the Australian veteran rockers have had such strong sales for their new CD that they managed to hold on to the No. 1 position for a second week.

AC/DC outsold several local Norwegian artists, including the debut album from "Norway's Got Talent" winner Erlend Bratland, who was expected to have a strong chart showing after releasing two No. 1 singles earlier this year.

According to Faro Journalen, AC/DC's chart success is the result of the band's strong sales at traditional record stores as well as through wholesale companies that distribute records to grocery shops, gas stations and other unconventional retail sales outlets.

The AC/DC single "Rock N' Roll Train" is at position No. 29 on the Norwegian radio chart this week. This marks the band's highest radio chart position in Norway to date.
