AC/DC Tickets Continue Reign Over The Top Events Rankings
October 6, 2008TicketNews reports that Australian hard rockers AC/DC are continuing to sell more concert tickets than any other artist, according to TicketNews' Weekly Top Events rankings for the week ending October 5. The band holds the number one position in both the Top Combined Events rankings and the Top Concert rankings for the third week in a row.
18 Black Ice World Tour concerts sold out in record time when tickets went on sale for the initial round of on-sales, with shows being added in Chicago, Los Angeles, and Oakland due to unprecedented fan demand.
UK's What Records is taking pre-orders for AC/DC's new album, "Black Ice", as a limited heavyweight vinyl, deluxe packaged (book) CD and CD album. The vinyl will come with an exclusive AC/DC badge. Also available are "Black Ice" t-shirts which can be bought with the new album.
A new AC/DC track entitled "War Machine" is available for streaming on the band's MySpace page. The song comes off the Australian hard rock legends' first studio album in eight years, "Black Ice", which will arrive on October 20 and will sold exclusively at Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and ACDC.com in the U.S. All three plan multiple promotional campaigns aimed at the group's millions of fans.
AC/DC's first new single in eight years, "Rock 'N Roll Train" (see video below),hit the band's web site and radio stations on August 28.
AC/DC was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2003. The band has sold more than 200 million albums worldwide, including 69 million in the U.S. alone.
"No Bull: The Director's Cut", a chronicle of the band's famed July 1996 concert at the Plaza De Toros De Las Ventas in Madrid, Spain, was released on DVD and Blu-ray September 9.
