AC/DC Announces 2016 American Tour Dates

Legendary rockers AC/DC will embark on the next leg of their U.S. tour in February. The 20-show trek kicks off February 2 in Tacoma, Washington and concludes on April 4 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The dates are as follows:

Feb. 20 - St. Louis, MO - Scottrade Center
Feb. 23 - Dallas, TX - American Airlines Center
Feb. 26 - Houston, TX - Toyota Center
Feb. 29 - Kansas City, MO - Sprint Center
Mar. 08 - Atlanta, GA - Philips Arena
Mar. 11 - Ft. Lauderdale, FL - BB&T Center
Mar. 14 - Greensboro, NC - Greensboro Coliseum
Mar. 17 - Washington, DC - Verizon Center
Mar. 20 - Detroit, MI - The Palace
Mar. 23 - Columbus, OH - Nationwide Arena
Mar. 26 - Cleveland, OH - Quicken Loans Arena
Mar. 29 - Buffalo, NY - First Niagara Center
Apr. 01 - Philadelphia, PA - Wells Fargo Center

Tickets for the newly announced shows are scheduled to go on sale on Friday, December 18.

Asked how AC/DC puts a set together for a tour with so much great material to choose from, singer Brian Johnson told VH1: "The problem with the songs is, none of them sound like from any era. They all sound like they could have been done on [our latest] album ['Rock Or Bust']. 'Shot Down In Flames', let's just take that. 'Hell Or High Water', 'Hell Ain't A Bad Place To Be' could have been on this album. Honestly. And that makes it much more difficult. It gets tough, you can only play so many songs before you drop."

Added guitarist Angus Young: "And whenever we play live, we got to keep the energy level up, you know? We've been lucky through our career. There's a lot of strong songs that connect with different eras so we've got a big catalogue of tracks. It does become a little bit hard. We try to cover all territories."

AC/DC's sixteenth studio album, "Rock Or Bust", has sold more than 550,000 copies since debuting at No. 3 on the Billboard album chart back in December 2014.

It's the band's first album without founding guitarist Malcolm Young, who is suffering from dementia. He has been replaced by nephew Stevie Young.

AC/DC drummer Phil Rudd was arrested in November 2014 at his home in Tauranga on charges of threatening to kill and possession of methamphetamine and cannabis.

Although Rudd played on "Rock Or Bust", he did not appear in photos or videos for the disc.

One-time AC/DC drummer Chris Slade officially joined the band's lineup for its performance on the February 8 Grammy Awards telecast. Slade is also behind the kit for the group's current world tour.
