ADEMA 'On Hiatus'

February 21, 2008

Bassist Dave DeRoo of the Bakersfield, California-based rock band ADEMA has issued the following udapte:

"It's been a little while since we've posted an update, and I want to apologize to all our fans in the ADEMA militia that have been patiently awaiting an update from us.

"We love you, and we appreciate all the friends we've made over the course of the last several months touring in support of our latest, 'Kill The Headlights' — and the continued support we receive from our familia over the last 8 years that we've been a band.

"We're starting fresh, and getting a whole new team over here in ADEMA-land! The band is cool; we just need a new crew (a new 'supporting cast,' if you will). We recently parted ways with our longtime manager, as well as our accountants/business management shortly before the end of last year.

"We feel that we did everything that was asked of us (and then some) in support of 'Kill The Headlights'. And we did what we've always done: Toured our asses off! Nothing makes us happier than sharing these songs with you guys, and seein' you at the shows. But as of right now, regretfully, there are no further plans to tour in support of 'Kill The Headlights'.

"In regards to the European tour that was slated to kick off at the end of this month in Germany, we have never confirmed those dates. Our former 'management' was negotiating the deal when we ceased working together, and I haven't heard of anything from them since then. We would love to try to make it over there as soon as we can; it just isn't feasible at this time, until we handle some more of our business issues…

"Tieff-Druck Musik (our German label) has been nothing short of amazing in trying to make this happen, and on behalf of the band, I apologize sincerely, from the bottom of my heart. The fans don't deserve to have these opportunities to see the band taken away from them. I only wish that Immortal Records would have been as supportive of the album as you have been!

"So what have we been up too, you ask?

"ADEMA is alive and well, but we are taking a break (I guess you could say we are on 'hiatus' right now…lol) I've never been entirely sure what that term meant, because we've always been so busy, we've never even had an opportunity to stop and 'smell the roses' or to make sure that we were always making the best decisions, but hey — it's life, ya know? Sometimes, you just keep the ball moving, whether you agree with the direction the ship is heading or not, you hand it off and let somebody else steer for awhile…

"The band is great, and honestly, probably getting along better than we ever have! Everyone has been keeping busy working on individual projects.

"Ed is busy as always, writing, producing bands and working out of his home studio (as well as doing some engineering work at other places in L.A area…)

"Tim has been writing, taking some engineering courses, and brushing up on his ProTools skills. He's eagerly awaiting the arrival of NASCAR season (and eagerly awaiting the birth of his second child in the next few months…!) Congratulations, brother!

"Kris has been busy working on his solo record, and has been training with UFC and MMA fighter Jason Lambert, among others. He has some no-holds-barred contests coming up as well…

"Bobby has been keeping busy working on a few different projects; he's sent me a few different ideas, and we're always working on songs a bit here and there — the ideas are always poppin'!

"As for myself, I'm just tryin' to stay outta trouble (albeit unsuccessfully at times — lol) I've been doing some work to my house, and working on a few projects…

"I know that we all would love to be on the road still, if it made sense (and if it felt right) but honestly, the best thing that ADEMA can do for itself is re-group right now; so we can continue to be the band that you've always loved, and respected! For us to be a band that you can be proud of, and to insure that we're making the best music that we can… (and for our own sanity…lol) we need this time for ourselves — for our sake.

"After 8 and ½ years of us giving you everything we have to give, all we ask of you is for our support right now. This band will always be here as long as you still want it — and I know that there are way to many of you out there that would be just as heartbroken as we would be if this thing died. So in that sense, we have an obligation to you, and each other — a 'mutual obligation' you could say, right?"
