ADEMA Singer Is A Soldier For Iraq & Roll

March 31, 2005

New ADEMA vocalist and ex-Marine Luke Caraccioli recently spoke to the New York Post about the band's upcoming trip to Iraq in early April to perform a USO show for his former comrades.

"We want to rock it for the troops," Caraccioli told the Post. "Guys there don't get their CDs or American TV, and they definitely don't get the latest music. It will be a great honor for us."

Although Caraccioli's own unit, the 361st, recently returned to the U.S., he personally knows some of their replacements in the 465th, and may be performing for them at some undisclosed location — the USO won't confirm dates or camps.

Perhaps the greatest change for Caraccioli is the freedom to ditch his regulation crewcut.

"You used to get a haircut every Monday morning or you were in big trouble," said Caraccioli, who at age 15 learned guitar from his dad by playing OZZY OSBOURNE and BLACK SABBATH tunes.

"There was no way I was going to re-enlist," he said of his segue from a military career. "It was a great experience, but I wanted to be a musician. That was too much for me to stay in."

ADEMA's new album, "Planets", is scheduled for release on April 5 via Earache Records.
