August 4, 2004ADRIFT, the Florida-based heavy rock band featuring former CANNIBAL CORPSE guitarist Jack Owen and ex-RESURRECTION/EPITAPH drummer Kevin Astl, have been confirmed to play the Big Spring Jam at Big Spring International Park in Huntsville, Alabama. ADRIFT will hit the stage at 6:15 p.m. Saturday, September 25, just prior to Columbia recording artists SWITCHFOOT, who will then be followed by southern rock legends LYNYRD SKYNYRD.
Some of the hottest and most resilient music acts spanning the past four decades highlight this year's 12th anniversary of the Big Spring Jam music festival in Huntsville. Major artists confirmed for the festival include country superstar WYNONNA, modern rockers 12 STONES, SWITCHFOOT and LIVE, LYNYRD SKYNYRD and P-Funk architect George Clinton with his groups PARLIAMENT and FUNKADELIC. More than 70 musical acts are scheduled to appear at the three-day festival, which will be held in Big Spring International Park in downtown Huntsville on Friday, September 24 through Sunday, September 26. Other artists confirmed for the Jam include contemporary-folk turned techno-pop queen JEWEL, country artists BLAKE SHELTON and RESTLESS HEART and alternative rockers COLLECTIVE SOUL and TANTRIC. Classic rock enthusiasts also won't be disappointed with the return of .38 SPECIAL and performances by past chart toppers that include GARY PUCKETT and the UNION GAP, THREE DOG NIGHT and THE TURTLES.
Owen had this to say about the festival: "This event, which we are very excited to play, is going to show people what ADRIFT is about. And, to share the stage with the quality and diversity of acts that have been booked is staggering. I mean, we're playing the same stage with LYNYRD SKYNYRD! Come on, that's huge!" Added Mark Elm, ADRIFT's singer, "We will be debuting the new singles from the ADRIFT album at the Big Spring Jam, and when we leave the stage, that crowd will know without a doubt that ADRIFT deserves to be in the same company as the other acts playing the festival!"
