AEROSMITH Guitarist Is Not Battling Hearing Problems, Says Wife

Joe Perry's wife has shot down rumors that the AEROSMITH guitarist is suffering from partial deafness.

AEROSMITH is scheduled to return to the studio next month to resume work on its long-awaited new album, but Internet chatter suggested the sessions could be further delayed as Perry battles hearing problems.

In a series of posts on her Twitter page, the guitarist's wife Billie insisted her husband recently had his ears examined and was given a clean bill of health.

"Joe does not have tinnitus nor does he have any hearing loss," she wrote. "His ears are perfect they were just checked."

She added, "More rumors. Ugh!!

"I was at the visit and can assure everyone Joe's ears are 100 percent."

AEROSMITH's new album, which will be recorded in the Massachusetts studio that the band built six years ago, will be the group's first set of original material since 2001's "Just Push Play" and first studio offering since 2004's covers CD, "Honkin' On Bobo". The CD will be helmed by Jack Douglas, who worked with AEROSMITH on the "Bobo" album, but is most associated with them for producing several early AEROSMITH classics, including "Toys In The Attic" and "Rocks".

The plan to resume work on a new disc follows the completion of singer Steven Tyler's first season as a judge on "American Idol". The band, minus Perry, did get together for a week earlier this year in Los Angeles to work on new material.
