AEROSMITH Guitarist JOE PERRY: New Radio Interviews Posted Online

August 13, 2009

A couple of brand new radio interviews with AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry — conducted by Akron, Ohio's WONE 97.5 FM and Detroit, Michigan's 101 WRIF — can be viewed below.

According to The Pulse of Radio, Perry is not sure at this point whether the band will continue its trouble-plagued summer tour, which ground to a halt again last week after singer Steven Tyler injured his head, neck and shoulder falling off a stage in Sturgis, South Dakota. Perry told The Pulse of Radio that the tour's status depends on Tyler's condition. "Right now I don't know what's gonna happen," he said. "A lot of it's gonna depend on what they find from the CAT scans. I mean, he hit his head really hard. Apparently they didn't find any concussion, but stuff happens. It's just the odds, you know. We've had such a good run, you know, the last 25 years. I think we canceled two shows until the last four years."

Perry said that he, the three other instrumental members of AEROSMITH, and their manager have met to discuss the situation, while relying on email updates from Tyler's management about his condition.

Tyler injured his leg earlier on the trek, forcing the cancellation of seven shows, while guitarist Brad Whitford missed the first few weeks with a head injury and bassist Tom Hamilton went home to deal with a recurrence of throat cancer.

Perry told Billboard.com on Tuesday (August 11) that the tour's on-and-off pace has been frustrating, saying, "It's been such a stop-and-go thing," he said. "In some ways the band has played the best it ever has, and with ZZ TOP on the bill and everything and Billy (Gibbons) coming up (on stage)...it was building up to be the best show and best tour we've done in a long time."

AEROSMITH has postponed this week's five-date Canadian run, with the U.S. portion of the trek set to resume next Monday (August 17) if all goes well.

While AEROSMITH is grounded, Perry has been taking his tour bus to various cities and radio stations to promote his upcoming solo album, "Have Guitar, Will Travel", which will be released this fall.
