AEROSMITH's Fenway Park Concert Sells Out In Less Than One Day
April 18, 2010According to NESN.com, Live Nation announced that all tickets have been sold for AEROSMITH and THE J.GEILS BAND's once-in-a-lifetime show after the tickets became available Saturday morning.
Fans lucky enough to score tickets will witness a historic performance at the legendary ballpark, with two Boston bands playing together on the same stage for the first time.
The summer concert will begin at 6 p.m. Gates will open an hour before at 5 p.m. There is no second performance scheduled at this time.
The announcement of the "Double Play" event was made on April 7 by Boston home boys Steven Tyler and Peter Wolf at the top of the 4th inning of the Red Sox/Yankees game when they visited Red Sox announcers Don Orsini and Jerry Remy to make the surprise announcement to a roaring Boston crowd. This is the first time both bands have ever played together.
"Sox fans, look out! You've got a grand slam with AEROSMITH and J. GEILS and we're going to rock it over the Green Monster," said Steven Tyler.
Tyler most recently appeared at Fenway Park for the opening Red Sox/Yankees game on Sunday, April 4 when he performed "God Bless America" from the field.
AEROSMITH's Joe Perry, who was recently on tour in the U.K. with THE JOE PERRY PROJECT, commented from Newcastle, England, "When I heard that AEROSMITH would be playing Fenway Park this summer, naturally I freaked out. Then I heard it was going to be with THE J. GEILS BAND. I knew that this is an event that I, like all hard core Bostonians, have been waiting for for 40 years. There have been other shows at Fenway Park, but this one is going to leave them all behind because it's going to rock so hard the Green Monster will crack and they will have to keep the Citgo sign together with duct tape and glue. The biggest problem for me is that I can't be on stage and in the audience at the same time. I'll definitely be in the audience watching J. GEILS' performance."
AEROSMITH will be celebrating its 40th anniversary later this year.
For more than 30 years AEROSMITH has defined American rock and roll. They've earned countless awards (including four Grammy Awards, eight American Music Awards, six Billboard Awards, and 12 MTV Awards),performed electrifying sold-out concerts around the world, and have a fan-base numbering in the millions worldwide.
