AEROSMITH's JOE PERRY Says He 'Wasn't Jealous' Of STEVEN TYLER's 'American Idol' Stint

September 24, 2012

AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry and singer Steven Tyler were interviewed on today's (Monday, September 24) edition of ABC's "Good Morning America". You can now watch the segment below.

Asked about the rumored tension within the band over Tyler's stint as a judge on the reality-TV singing competition "American Idol", the vocalist said, "It was the biggest show on TV. And every night millions of people got to see that big lip, singer guy from AEROSMITH sing up there, you know, being what he is. And it didn't hurt AEROSMITH. They were a little jealous in the beginning that I took it." This prompted Perry to interject and correct Tyler, telling the frontman, "I was upset because, I had to read about it in the press. But I wasn't jealous you were on the show; I was glad you were on the show."

Tyler announced his departure from "Idol" in July after serving as a judge for two seasons on the hit Fox program. The AEROSMITH frontman explained that he wanted to refocus on his music career.
