AEROSMITH To Headline SWEDEN ROCK FESTIVAL
February 8, 2007Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet reports in its Feb. 8, 2007 edition that AEROSMITH will be one of the headliners at this year's Sweden Rock Festival, set to take place June 6-9 in Sölvesborg, Sweden. The last time AEROSMITH played in Sweden was in 1999.
Sweden Rock Festival representative Ingolf Persson refused to comment on the report, but admitted that "a band like AEROSMITH is every festival's dream — there's no denying that."
According to Aftonbladet, Sweden Rock Festival organizers will officially announce AEROSMITH's participation in the event as a headline act in late February.
AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry recently revealed that the band is planning to mount a massive world tour this year. In an interview with Ultimate-Guitar.com, Perry said, "What we're looking at is coming back and playing some places we haven't played a long time. And places we've never played. It's been eight years since we've been in Europe, and I don't how long it's been since we've been in Australia, and these are all things I want to do and I know all the other guys in the band feel the same way, too — we want to get back and play back out in the world."
Perry added, "We've played America enough for different reasons and we've stayed here, but it's time for playing in other parts of the world. We're an international band and we've played out there, and it's time to get back and go to a lot of places we haven't played in awhile."
AEROSMITH and VELVET REVOLVER are expected to play dates in South America in April.
AEROSMITH is working on a new studio album that they hope to release by the middle of this year.
