AIR GUITAR WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS Winner To Receive Guitar From QUEEN's BRIAN MAY

August 8, 2006

GoTravelInsurance.co.uk reports that the Air Guitar World Championships are scheduled to take place in Oulu, Finland from September 6 to September 8.

Beginning as an offshoot of the Oulu Music Video Festival, which runs until September 10 this year, warm up sessions for the air guitar event will take place at the 45 Special rock club, followed by the grand final at the Club Teatria on September 8.

The winner will receive an electric guitar and a Signature Vox amp donated by QUEEN's Brian May, creator of the "Bohemian Rhapsody" solo, an air guitar favorite.

The championship's purpose is to promote world peace, the event's web site explains. "According to the ideology of the Air Guitar, wars would end and all the bad things would disappear if all the people in the world played the Air Guitar.

"This is why the whole universe is invited to play the Air Guitar at the end of the competition."
